As you may know UPN has cancelled The Random Years (Almost All-white comedy with 1 Hispanic) and As If (Comedy/Porn hybrid with 1 black girl) which means Buffy,Wolf Lake and Roswell are the only white shows (Not counting reality, sports or news) out there so now it's your turn to pick a cast, plot and name for comedies to replace them. They can be black, white, hispanic or mixed (Or Asin or Indian, etc.) and we'll see how they work out.Sort of like a Fantasy baseball.Ready? GO!

I did and am REALLY happy it's gone. The camera angles and music in the backround (NEVER STOPPING) were SO annoying.Only 2 episodes aired.4 episodes of the FAR,FAR Superior Random years (My fave new show) aired!

Well it's more Sci-Fi/Comedy than pure Comedy but Special Unit 2 I heard isn't doing too good either, and the only main black character on there is the Chief of SU2.

I knew from the commercials that The Random Years and As If would quickly get cancelled. Not because they are "white" comedies, but because they look bad. You can just tell when a show is going to bomb (most times). Besides, don't sitcoms have the highest failure rate among new tv shows? Isn't that why networks like NBC will pay out the nose to keep the actors on a show that brings in good ratings like Friends, because finding a replacement is a hard thing to do?

Also, animation doesn't work on UPN. Dilbert and Home movies were both cancelled by upn. I mean, both those shows are much better then what UPN is airing now.....

when I was a kid and I watched shows like Good Times and What's Happening and Fat Albert, the thought never crossed my mind that those were black shows, or that other shows I watched like MASH or All in the Family were white shows. I don't want to turn this into a racial thing, really, but what does it matter who is in what show? If it's good, it's good. And if it's bad, it's bad. To single out As If for having one black character? Well, what's the point? I dunno. I guess thinking in terms like that is alien to me.

I see your point, but still. The only shows that actually do good on UPN are established shows or ideas. Think about it. There's "Buffy" and "Roswell", which originated on the WB, "The Hugleys", which originated on ABC, "Enterprise", which is working off of the the 30+ year history of "Star Trek" (and, bcause of Scott Backula, "Quantum Leap"), and "WWF Smackdown", which is working off of the WWF. (Actually, if you have been following the plotline, it's now "Vince McMahon Presents WWF Smackdown" and is working off of The Rock and Hulk Hogan, but that is another story altogether.) I personally say that they should fold UPN. Viacom should then move "Buffy", "The Hugleys", and "Enterprise" to CBS (which I have heard rumors of them doing), "Vince McMahon Presents WWF Smackdown" (hey, I have to stick with plotline) to a Viacom cable network (they own a bunch; pick one), and "Roswell", "Special Unit 2", and "Wolf Lake" (I was one of five people that watched it on CBS) to TNN. I'm sorry, but that network is a lost cause. I say quit while you're ahead and still financially solvent.

WB really struggled at first and was the joke network. Fox was too at first. (Well, they still kinda are for some of their programming, but now they are a joke network for entirely different reasons.) With all the competition today, it might take UPN a little while longer to get great new shows first that are truly original and theirs, but in the interim time, I say let them be. It takes time to really establish yourself, but I think they will.
