A few years back DC was the king with regards to it's properties on tv and in the movies. We had the Superman movies and tv shows. Batman was big theatrical hit. Wonder Woman was on tv. We even had a pretty good Flash show, until the President of CBS killed it. The only big positive for Marvel was the Hulk tv show of the late 70's. A Fantastic Four movie was so bad. It was never shown. But, in the last couple of years Marvel has been roaring back. X-Men, Blade and the upcoming Spiderman seems to have knocked DC off it's perch. And with the upcoming Daredevil, Hulk and other movies Marvel is planning. They plan on trying to stay on top.
Now, granted I am a DC fan. But, I enjoy any GOOD adaption of any comic character. DC(Warner) has been crappy recently with it's movie adaptions (Superman:Quest for Peace, Batman & Robin). And the thought of what they are talking about for the new Superman movie really scares me. I hope that DC(Warner) will see that doing a movie adaption of a comic can be sucessfull if you make it with good effects and more importantly a good story. Also, to keep it within the realm of what is in the comic (ie-Superman not in his costume or using a neon Batmobile). I like what the honchos of Marvel do. They are involved. Stan Lee and other big wigs at Marvel are at least somewhat involved in the creation of the movie. I have been terrified and bummed about all the talk and rumors of what the new Superman movie was going to be like. Going back to a costumeless Nick Cage to the hiring of mtv director McG. But, I hope smarter heads prevail and don't change(too much) an American icon. But, probably not.

Marvel has benefitted from the lack of corporate ownership as far as movie studios are concerned, but that doesn't mean that they'll be more successful. Considering that they're throwing their properties at any interested movie studio, it would become quite difficult to do grand-scale films with multiple Marvel characters. Example: If one studio gets Captain America and another gets Iron Man, the possibility of an Avengers movie becomes almost nonexistant. I just can't see The Avengers without either man.
