Chicago's first annual C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo) is now over, and I enjoyed my first-ever comic convention. Here's a few thoughts I had on the show:

- Favorite costumes: Static; the Tenth Doctor (Dr. Who); Green Arrow; the Golden Age Flash.

- Lots of cheap comics and trade paperbacks there! Have a pile sitting on my living room floor that'll last me for way many weeks...

- McCormick Place seemed nice enough a place to hold it, but holding it on the same weekend as a kitchen and bathroom fixtures convention made for some odd mixing (such as costumed SW Stormtroopers loitering near a display on bathroom tiles)...

As for the panels I went to, the DC and Boom! Studios ones didn't seem (from what I saw, got to the DC one only toward the end) to give any earth-shaking new news. However, the Archie one was interesting:

There's going to be a revival of two classic 60s Archie series:
- "Pureheart the Powerful": Archie as a superhero; the panelists from Archie mentioned Betty as Superteen and Reggie as Evilheart will appear, and, from the sounds of it, other Riverdale denizens joining them to form a sort of "Justice League".

- "The Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E.": A spy spoof series featuring Archie, in a take-off of 60s TV show "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

Covers for the latter were shown (which'll be appearing in "Archie and Friends").

Other upcoming Archie storylines:
- That line about the (future professor) Dilton Doiley disappearing in that Archie wedding storyline isn't just a throwaway line, as the reason *why* he vanished will be revealed... two words: "parallel universes."

- A storyline parodying "Jersey Shore" will be seen (with Cheryl Blossom appearing).

- A storyline parodying "Twilight" will also appear (they showed a cover with Veronica hanging out with a vampire-ish looking teen, with Archie frowning)

After I asked, they also stated that Sabrina will be back in some future (Archie-house-style-drawn, not manga-drawn) series.

Overall, I'm glad I went, and will consider going back again next year!

Sounds like you had fun. Makes me want to try to make it to a real convention, I've mostly just been to comic book shows.
