This one is really a no-brainer. Michael Ansara all the way! He added real emotion and pain to Freeze, Something no one else was able to do. Writing is a big part of any character, but if you don't have a quality actor to pull it off, it means nothing.

"I failed you. I wish there were another way for me to say it. I cannot. I can only beg your forgiveness and pray you hear me somehow, someplace... Someplace where a warm hand waits for mine." -Mr. Freeze, Heart of Ice, Batman: The Animated Series

But Ansara OWNS them all.

"You may experience momentary discomfort." - Freeze

I'm sure Arnold was good, considering the lines they gave him....

No, really, he wasn't. I could have played Mr. Freeze better than Arnold, and I'm a girl!!! :p

"Terry says something about the place blowing up and Freeze going with it"
"Believe me...you're the only one who cares."
Mr. Freeze, Meltdown

Michael Ansara, all the way, for all the reasons already mentioned. You really said it all, Penguin! :)

P.S: :p + = [gag me] ;)

EDIT

Oh my god. Two people voted for Arnold now! :p  We really need a [gag me] smilie!

Take two of these, and call me in the morning....

Oh come ON how lame was that. That was THE WORST BATMAN MOVIE, AND THE WORST Mr. Freeze (Fries).

Michael Ansara is by far the best actor to play the part. That combination of cold emotionless anger with the deep sadness of lost love applied against enemies who usually were badguys...

I mean Except for Harvey Dent, Mr Freeze (Victor Fries) is the most powerful of the batman "villans" But this would not have been so if It wew not for the incredible Michael Ansara.

The folks on this board may just be a wee bit biased toward anything BTAS. Y'know, since we named the board after the show, after all. ;)

But honestly, take a look at the quality of the acting even from a completely neutral perspective, and Ansara comes out on top. He just gives the character the right inflections.

But I also saw Ansara on an ep of Perry Mason(he was way younger then, obviously); he was good in that, too.

But he carried off Freeze perfectly. From Heart to Meltdown, this character was the most consistent throughout the BTAS-Beyond mythos/continuum.

And, that line of BB's Freeze I used was raw...and perfect for CN/WS Toonami intro splicing. :D

I never saw Lennie Weinrib's Freeze. I did hear his Hunk and Lotor on Voltron: DotU. I thought Lotor was Keith. (Neil "Green Goblin/Norman Osborn" Ross)

[thus, I also give Weinrib the BoD.]

But in the interests of neutrality, I say any of the live-action actors had a hard job. But that's a new topic. :)

Dini's story & Ansara's voice acting brought back interest in a villain that had become obscure.

Previous to the Knightsquest/Knightsend (?) & Underwolrd Unleashed stories, I couldn't remember the last time Freeze had appeared in continuity.

Wasn't Freeze scarcely used in the 70s and 80s?

I didn't care much for the Cool, Cruel Mr. Freeze in the old cartoon. Nor did I care for the Freeze character in the Adam West program. Of course back then, the only good shows featured Joker, Riddler, Penguin, or Catwoman.

Michael Ansara hands down, he brought so much to the character I can't even think about the other people. He brought pathos, intimidation, and mystery. His voice is literally "cold".
