So i pick up some recent spiderman comics today. And i know about maryjane being dead but even though i have not read when peter was looking for her. So i got the comic where peter friends sent him on a blind date and on a few panels it show a woman that look like mary jane. So is mary jane still alive?

Those issues are from about two years ago that your reading. MJ turned up alive, but Peter and her decided to separate for a while. aunt May found out Pete was Spider-Man, and there's hints in this month's 'Nuff Said issue that MJ might come back to Peter soon.

MJ just didn't feel secure being around Peter.(I don't agree with this, but Howard Mackie messed up a lot, and J.M. Straczynski is trying to set things right again.)

Well Mackie was pretty much going under the directive of Joe Q. on that one. For some reason Quesada believes that people can't relate to Pete if he isn't single - that is seperated from MJ. He is also very oppossed to MJ and Pete getting back together but I'm really hoping that JMS can change all of that - I mean the 'Nuff Said issue said it all - both Pete and MJ are putting on faces to the people around them while truly missing the company of each other. Honestly I don't think the book had been the same since the apparent death of MJ and the creative duo of Jenkins and JMS has really started to turn everything around. I still remember that Jenkins first issue of Peter Parker was astonishing and I haven't been let down by the title since he came on board - couple that with the Amazing (pun intended) writing of JMS and the pencils of Bucky and JR JR and I think Spidey may have returned to a golden age - I just hope he gets some happiness out of the process.

Maybe someday Joe Q. will realize that the fans want MJ with Peter and that the move to keep them apart will eventually wear thin on comic fans.

-Joe!
