After getting into a nostalgia trip, decided to see if the Ducktales theme was available for purchase legally (of course). Low and behold, I found this:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/the-disney-afternoon-studio/id273791875#
The Disney Afternoon Soundtrack, featuring the themes to DT, Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers and Talespin, as well as the original intro to the Disney Afternoon Block. A must have for those want a trip down memory lane

Um, where is Gargoyles?

This was originally released 1990-91, so Gargoyles couldn't be there.
Does anybody else think that it's weird that Disney is OK with re-releasing this soundtrack on iTunes and making a comic about Darkwing Duck, but they can't y'know actually release the shows?

I still have this! I bought it at Disneyland in 1991 when they used to have the "Disney Afternoon Avenue." (http://www.yesterland.com/afternoon.html)
All of the themes are expanded versions featuring material not heard during the actual cartoon intros, and are probably also re-recordings, too, as I do remember the original themes sounding different from how they appear here.

I'm still pretty sure it's easier to make money on comics and itunes songs than on pricey DVD sets.
I'm speaking from experience because, well, I am considering buying some of these songs and I am definitely buying the Darkwing comic but I have not yet and probably will not in the near future buy a DVD set of a Disney Afternoon show. I have too many DVDs as it is and songs and comics take up less space.

I got the Disney Afternoon CD when it first came out. I didn't play it too much, and I lost the lyrics book to it when I moved out of my parents' house and into my apartment some years back.

Was that something that came with it separately or something? The insert of mine only has a track list, some credits, and a short list of other Walt Disney Records releases, but no lyrics.

Great! Since when is it available? (that's apparently not mentioned)
I would buy it...IF I lived in the US

The soundtrack has been up on iTunes for a few years now, I think it was among the very first wave of albums Disney made available exclusively on iTunes. It's a bit heavy on TaleSpin songs, but I guess that's because it was the newest of the four shows at the time the original CD was released.
Who knows? Maybe the upcoming comics will help renew some interest in the stalled DVD sets?

Disney has probably produced so much music in its time that probably half of it has been forgotten.
I looked to see if they also had Totally Minnie or Mickey Unrapped just for the heck of it. No dice, though.

I bought the audio casset in 1990. The only paper that came with it was a title list and production credits. Still got it. It still plays. Still enjoyable to listen.
