have they released any images or sketches of the justice guild members? i'm interested to see if they closely resemble the
JSA members or if they are just "new" characters. also, does anyone know why they didn't just use the JSA characters?

The best reason I can give you that they didn't use the JSA characters is because they were made off-limits. I'm not sure it that was a mandate by the editor of JSA, or by someone higher up than him, but they did not want actual JSA characters on the show.

And as a JSA fan, I am actually very glad my favorite characters are protected by this decision from the cartoon.

Timm said that he talked to someone from DC about it, and that there were problems with it because DC has worked hard to make JSA one of their most popular comics. Since they wanted to do a few jokes about classic superhero stereotypes, DC was afraid that this could tarnish the JSA image. So they altered the characters just enough for the story to still work, and for the characters to be somewhat recognizable, but still not be the JSA characters. It was in an old news post.
