Eltingville for sure. I liked Saddle Rash for the unique premise, but that is about all. Maybe in time I could grow to like the show better, but I didn't care much for the pilot. Eltingville was pure gold from the get go, as far as I am concerened.

Well I don't really want to choose, I enjoyed both of them equally for different reasons. I guess Eltingville is more dear to me, for the same reason the movie Rushmore is. Cause I've lived aspects of both. I really couldn't say the same for Saddle Rash, but comedically I felt like it was just as fluid (if not even more) than Eltingville. It's a toss up. I can't choose.

Although I thought Saddle Rash was a lot funnier than Eltingville, I don't see a lot of potential in it for a long running series. I have a feeling that it could get old pretty fast.

So, I guess I pick Eltingville. :)

Saddle Rash.

It is just funnier.

But I like both, and hope both get picked up.

Maybe we should watch "Lewis Lectures" before we judge.

I thought they were both pretty choppy and in need of work. Eltingville seemed to have more room to expand, wheras Saddlerash seemed like a one joke show.
Night of the Living Doo has been the clear winner amongst this months specials.

Saddle Rash. It's a lot funnier than Eltingville, IMHO. Plus, it's adorable, and has H. Jon Benjamin, and a lot of other super cool people doing the voices. Besides, I know lots of guys like the ones from Eltingville Club, and I sure don't want to also have to deal with them when I turn the T.V. on.

Lewis Lectures isn't a pilot, though. It was a short film made for film festivals by Merrill Markoe. I guess CN just picked it up because anything by Soup2Nuts is gold to them(Home Movies is their biggest late night performer).

Well, Saddle Rash was definately a lot funnier but I agree with some other comments. I don't see it as a series, the original western premise would get stale awful quick. However, Eltingville left me so utterly uninterested that if it did become a series I doubt I'd watch it. So between these two I guess I'll say Saddle Rash since I'd at least tune in dispite my misgivings.

Elitingville was funnier and would definitely make a good series. I doubt they could even pull off Saddle Rash as a series. :p

Maybe we could have some Saddle Rash shorts that could alternate with Captain Linger? I could kinda go for that.

I really felt Eltinville was a one trick pony; just a bunch of fanboys fighting a lot. I don't know, maybe 'cause I didn't catch many of the references (mostly in the Quiz Off scene), but I didn't think it was all that funny.

Saddle Rash, however, is an entirely different matter. Though will Slim be back? That could get old.

Eltingville would make a good series. It can talk about different fights, comic book stores, and the like. Saddle Rash, on the other hand, I don't see as a series. It just seems more like a one-time thing that you'd watch once and like. Overall, I'd say Eltingville would be better for a series.

I once felt Clerks would be a one trick pony also, but Kevin Smith showed us there were great stories to be told in the Clerks cannon not only thru the animated series but thru the comic books as well. I have confidence that Eltingville could also rise to that level.

Eltingville and Rash I just saw clips of on Adult Swim.com but Eltingville just seems a hell of alot better. Bad fanboys are very funny to laugh at and it remineded me of Clerks.

ELTINGVILLE ALL THE WAY! WOOT!

Probably because I love this show, it reminds me of a LOT of people I know, and these people were born to live at Comic-Con, and trust me, I've seen a lot of people highly similar to these animated creations.

One trick pony? As a scifi buff/toy collector I know theres plenty Eltingville could do for episodes. And I happened to catch all the references... I didnt know all the answers to the quizathon, but I knew everything they were talking about, so to me, it was one of the coolest/funniest things on tv in a long time :)

Saddle rash didnt make me laugh once. It IS cute, I like the style and characters, but I didnt really get a single joke... I couldnt even tell it was TRYING to be funny! What`d I miss that everyone else found amusing? Maybe I dozed off or something and didnt know it...

Eltingville is too pandering to the 'fanboy' set. I get the feeling that the makers of Eltingville feel that 'fanboys' (and fangirls, except there are none depicted) are entitled to a show of their own despite the fact that there is a preponderence of shows specifically for them. In other words, its redundant.

Saddle Rash gets my vote because of the distinctive voices of H. Jon Benjamin, and oneof my favorite comedians, Mitch Hedberg.
"If he says anything about his hat, disregard it." I love it!

Hey he's the best they could get for narration in such a small town. San Francisco, Chicago, maybe they could do better, but in Saddle Rash, that's the best they can do!

i'd pick both if i could but since i can't i thought saddlerash was a lot funnier but don't think it could go to far for a series i could see eltingville lasting a little longer but if they could come up with enough original ideas for saddlerash it gets my vote :D

Alright, so here's the lowdown:

Saddlerash fans claim Eltingville is aimed at "fanboys" and won't be able to reach the broader audience.
Eltingville fans claim people who sit on their couch and watch Adult Swim ARE the broader audience.
Eltingville fans claim Saddlerash isn't funny.
Saddlerash fans disagree.
Saddlerash fans claim that Eltingville is overly specific and contrived.
Eltingville fans claim that the best part of Eltingville is the overly-specified contrivedness.
Eltingville fans claim that Saddlerash is a one-trick horse and won't be able to sustain more episodes.
Saddlerash fans claim that Saddlerash isn't just a disease, it's a way of life... and "it's in my pants right now."
Saddlerash fans claim that only a geek could understand Eltingville's humor.
Eltingville fans claim that if you're watching Adult Swim, face it, you're a geek.
Eltingville fans claim that Eltingville should be praised for being based off the cult comic "Geek".
Saddlerash fans claim Saddlerash should be praised for being from the makers of Home Movies.
Lewis Lectures fans don't seem to have a place, but hey, I gots to give those homies some mad props from the non-canine kind.
Adult Swim fans claim that arguing over which show (any show) is better than another only creates unneccessary political parties that will evntually ruin our two-party system that so gracfully and lawfully elected the current president... umm, forget that last one...

Now these are all valid points... or not... but the important thing is to remember that if BOTH Saddlerash and Eltingville were turned into full shows, it would be to the benefit of Adult Swim, allowing programers to break up the monotony and keep fresh episodes coming every week.

-Big Ben

BTW, I liked Saddlerash better, but I also understood (sigh) Eltingville....

Even though I wasn't a big fan of both shows, I liked Eltingville more (although I didn't like how the characters were nitpicking so much).

While watching Saddle Rush, the jokes were too similar and rushed whereas Eltingville joked in different areas and didn't worry about holding back (that's why Family Guy is a good show).

So without a doubt, I say it's Welcome to Eltingville.

I would like to see Eltingville become a series more than Saddle Rash . Saddle Rash wasn't very funny to me and seemed to go on too long. Elitingville is my favorite AS special.

Fireswarm
05-05-2002, 04:36 PM
I actually liked Saddlerash :D , and thought Eltingville was boring. If you watch AS does not make you a geek. It only places you in the same catagory of the people who watch animation on Fox and EyeDrops on TechTV, animation fans. I may see the point of Eltingville being geared to fanboys, that may be a reason why I had no idea what the show was talking about.

It's not called "Geek." It's called "Dork."

Speaking of the comic. The Eltingville Club made their first appearence in Dork No.6 T2 of the 3 Eltingville stores were combined into the Pilot episode, the 3rd story wasn't cause it was a day in the life of Josh(The Fatass with the glasses). At the Comic show last week (I did meet Evan and he told me that he's really appreciative of all teh support from toonzone) over 200 people came to see the special re-showing of the Pilot episode (I missed it cause of a traffic jam at the Turnpike)

My vote went to Eltingville cause Saddle Rash really should've been a net show the way it was put together and shown.

Eltingville is that kind of show that geeks and non geeks can both enjoy. THe Geek can laugh at themselves, and the non-geeks can laugh at the losers the geeks are. (Bad anology I know but well I can't think of anything else)

ELTINGVILLE WILL BE REPLAYED MAY 19. THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he was saying the Scooby Doo thing was his favorite AS special (even if it wasn't made for AS).

It was mine, as well.

That was what I was saying. I haven't seen Eltingville yet, (Even though I am a Dorkin fan) but of the specials I have seen, I liked Night of the Living doo most. And, in my humble opinion a cool show would be "David Cross meets old Hannah Barberra Characters!"
