I would like to know what everyone has to say about this anime, other than the fact its one of the animes that 4kids dubbed. Now when it came to video games, Ive always thought Kirby would work out as a cartoon :D. But then I heard about the anime, and I was somewhat excited. I decided to watch the first episode{Subs not dubs if anyone is wondering}, and while I'm watching it. I sorta wonder whats with the hold up with adding a bunch of characters that had nothing to do with the game. I don't remember cabbies being in the game, unless the cabbies are based off of those mushroom covered things in the first game.
Don't know who's idea was it to add Tiff and Tuff though{probably the fact that most anime has a few children in based on stuff}. I admit that some parts of the anime are rather dumb but however some of it I could handle. After watching the first episode, I then watch it in the dubbed form. And other than most of the voice-acting isnt bad from what I heard from it. The only thing I could say about the voice acting in the dub is that the only good voice acting is King DDD.{Just a question am I the only one who dies laughing at King DDD's voice?} The only thing I dont like about the voice acting is Metaknight having a mexican ancient, hasnt this thing been done before bunch of times? A mysterious character with a cape having a mexican voice?
Other than that, the anime is decent to say the least. Personally it would've been better if there was a Kirby cartoon by the people who worked on Adventures of Sonic to do a kirby cartoon.

I enjoy Hoshi no Kaabii alot the english dub skipped a lot of episodes Fumu and Bun aren't Cappys and the Cappy are the resident of Pururu Land I think adding Fumu and Bun was a good idea since Kirby can't talk or really fight withut someone telling him to.

When I first saw the Kirby anime, I was disappointed. It seemed too kiddish for my taste.
Then when watching the episodes, I realized the huge amounts of parental bonuses in the show, with satires on politics, animation, theme parks, television, etc. etc. All cleverly shown in an anime staring a pink puffball. That, and the various homages, including the episode with references to The Exorcist and Psycho.
And the truly touching scenes are truly heartwarming (or heartwrenching). I cried in the Robot Dog episode because it was so sad.
Kirby seems to be a undeveloped character, not even getting most of the focus on the show (Although Kirby got lucky. The F-Zero anime dosn't feature Captain Falcon very much.) However, considering Kirby's personality, it might have been derailment to give him a voice. Kirby is perfect in the show, being the innocent glutton that only says two or three words. And his comedy is great slapstick. Kirby always made me smile :anime:
I don't really mind Tiff, mostly because she is a strong female role model. Ok, sometimes annoying role model, but not to the point you hope she shuts up. At least she actually tries to do something (take that Relena and Marina). And I think the audience would have gone nuts without an intelligent normal character on the show (Really, the sum IQ of all the residents of Cappy Town, King DDD, and Kirby amounts to a six year old.)
Metaknight remains awesome, and I don't mind the Spainish accent. Having grew up on Zorro, its a nice reference.
Overall, the Kirby anime was decent and fun to watch.

I realy hated it, no offense to the fans. I hope that the Kirby manga is MUCH better!

No, they just aired the episodes in a weird order and pushed other episodes back for a long time. Everything was dubbed and aired at one point or another.

The Kirby anime is best remembered by me for making this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-SEeKcn3XY) possible. :D

I did rather enjoy it; the dub may have had it's quirks compared to the original, but I can't find much fault with it even to this day. I think I caught it right at the point before I got wise to 4Kids', ahem, adaptation practices (that came around Sonic X...), so it had the chance to worm into me favorably. To me, it's a real shame that the majority of the dubbed series has been lost to the licensing void...

The dub wasn't bad honestly. Aside from a couple of questionable casting decisions (King DeDeDe as a hick? Mexican Meta Knight? Who could take Meta Knight seriously with Eric Stuart giving him a cheesy mexican accent!), it was a pretty good dub. All the familiar characters got their screen time and stayed practically faithful to the games that it was based on. Plus, Dan Green was awesome as the NME salesman! :D
Yeah I enjoyed the dub of what I watched, the show was cute and stupid which was just fun to watch. I didn't watch much of it but everything I watched I enjoyed. I do hate the fact that music was changed and edits but other than that good show.

Has it really been lost? When 4kids lost the Pokemon license Nintendo still kept all the rights to do whatever they wanted with the 4kids dubbed episodes. Counting Kirby came out a long time after Pokemon I'd assume that Nintendo kept the rights like it did.

And hey, if you missed him, you can hear him reincarnated as '88 Leonardo! Ba-DUM-chhhh!
But yeah, I liked him as well. (Pre-incarnation, I mean. ;P)

The major difference, sadly, is that Pokemon DVDs print money; the Kirby DVD apparently only used money to print...

I'm not kidding. Dan Green was dead on as the NME salesman. His voice just happened to fit the smooth and cocky demeanor of the salesman perfectly. I actually consider it one of his best roles.
Plus, people really should invite him more to anime cons, he's actually a blast to have. :anime:

Oh yeah I understand that and yeah I don't think we'll see dvds for a while but we will see the animated show released one day especially through digital distribution. I thought you meant that it'd be a licensing mess to get the rights, and since I'm sure Nintendo holds all the rights and 4Kids has no say whatsoever we'd just need someone who'd want to license it.

No no, I agree with you. I'm just saying I wish he could have kept the smarmyness out of Leo, is all; as NME Saleman, it worked perfectly. I enjoy Dan the man, believe me I do.
Eh, it was decent. Kirby's got such an interesting world that I expected a bit more out of it instead of the usual "powerful creature comes to other planet, is helped by children to defeat bad guys" plot. Kirby's not some Pokemon-like creature; he can talk and do other intelligent things.
To it's credit, it was entertaining. And Foghorn Leghorn King Dedede and Ricardo Montelban MetaKnight are both strangely awesome.

Eh, coulda been better. I'm glad that Kirby didn't talk, but including Tiff & Tuff was a mistake. Just like Chris in Sonic X, they took too much focus away from the games' characters. Also not a fan of Dedede being evil instead of childish and (occasionally) misunderstood.
The dub was fine. The show was intended for young children from the start, anyway.

Regarding King DeDeDe's voice in the 4Kids dub: the Southern accent and verbal gaffes were meant to be a spoof on George W. Bush, IIRC.

I personally have always felt like Kirby was not one of the really marketable Nintendo characters yet the company seemed determined to thrust him into the spotlight with shows, games, toys and other such venue's. I don't know, I guess the show was alright for a Saturday morning cartoon but I felt it was not really worth watching unless your a complete and utter crazy anime fan who has to watch and support every anime that airs on television here in the United States, or unless your a die hard Nintendo supporter.

Unlike Sonic Kirby doesn't talk, to make a show out of him you really need another main character that talks for it. They weren't that bad and without them Kirby wouldn't have been portrayed so awesomely, he would have been less naive and clueless and maybe even talk.

I thought it was a reference to Foghorn Leghorn, since DeDeDe sounded like from the South and not from Texas.

I already find this show sorta nostalgic. The dub actually wasn't bad at all, it was already comical, 4Kids just made it just as comical, sure, there are Japanese stuff, but I can get behind stuff like that.
My real problem with the show is the CGI. I mean...they just wanted to randomly toss CGI for some reason. Kirby (as well as DeDeDe and Escargoon) looks better traditionally animated than CGI, which makes them look really awkward. The only way that the CGI works is if it's on the monsters.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! It was pretty weird seeing those guys bopping around like that, not to mention they tried to make switching between their 3D and 2D forms seamless. I think they even had Tuff in 3D in one scene, not counting the opening.

Well the reason for the CGI or 3D was cause Kirby was on a low budget and so they need CGI for some seens since you know they since they were on a low budget but toward episode 40 you notice you see less CGI cause the anime was successful and they could afford to animate more scenes out of CGI.

To add to that fact, it was actually originally supposed to be all-CGI, as it was seen from it's pilot episode.
But yeah, the CGI being all over the place, that I actually cover Kirby (since he's the most frequent victim of this) with my hands when it happened.
Yeah, it was that uncomfortable. Another also; if they did CGI to save costs, it's impressive that they're able to animate the huge majority of the Cappy characters and the animals. That's kinda ironic.
As for Tiff getting more scenes/lines, all that stuff, someone forgot to mention that DeDeDe also got a lot of lines and scenes, as well.

Eh, I thought it was an OK show. Nice for a Saturday morning cartoon, but that's about it. It did kind of get repetitive after a while
Salseman: What can I do for you King Dedede?
Dedede: I need a monster that will get rid of Kirby for good.
*monster gets ordered, and attacks Kirby. Kirby keeps getting pummeled into submission*
Tiff: Kirby, suck it up!
*cue transformation sequence*
*Kirby uses his powers to defeat the monster*
Repeat in many more episodes
