I got it in 1996. That's the year Time Warner's Cable division bought Paragon Cable who was my operator and TW finished upgrading the systems to go from 46 to 78 channels. 3 years later they went to 175 channels(with Digital) and now they're at 400(with Digital).

Best? Now. They have a variety of toons.

My story is a bit different. I used to have it when I lived in the burbs which was basicly day one and then we freaking moved to the city and I lost CN for what I thought was forever until they finally got it in the city.

I honestly liked the earlier days better when they aired The banana splitz, The fatastic four, Space ghost and other random oldies. Right before I left for the city that had just started showing ...YO YOGI and the SMURFS.. And i was soo mad because I had used to love Yo Yogi when it was on CBS...

The newer days just weren't as good to me. I used to be able to watch CN all day with no inturuption but now I just can't do it..especilly in 1998 when they had the numorous Action Blocks...

SO For me..Seeing as how I missed a big chunk of years in between.

Best year: 1993
Worst Year: 1998

1994, when I moved to this state. When I lived in Virginia, we didn't get this channel, but whenever I visited my grandma I would watch CN, so I guess I knew of it sooner than that. It sure has changed...

I lived out in the country the first 9 years of my life, only way to get TV was one of those huge dishes. I can't remember far back enough as to not having it, so I'm not sure when we got it. All I really remember playing on it was Rocky & Bullwinkle.

I got it in 1993 or 1994, but briefly didn't have it in 1996 or 1997 (had just moved).

I actually do like the early years the best, they had the Pink Panther, all sorts of Hanna-Barbera oddities (many, like "Wait 'Till Your Father Gets Home" and "Top Cat" turning out to be real gems). I remember the first "World Premier Toons" (later renamed "What A Cartoons" and then "Cartoon Cartoons.") with PPG, Dexter, and what would eventually become Courage The Cowardly Dog. The first "50 Greatest Cartoons" special was the only really good one they ever did. It had historical information, interviews, and some more obscure cartoons.

I got it when it started. But all I can remember was that it looked like Boomerang. Then they started having a contest showcase for new comedy cartoon shorts. Dexter's Lab was the first to win it's own short, but I voted for "Powerpuff Girls" I knew it would be huge. They were the same guys who worked on Two Stupid Dogs which was really popular. I started telling people to watch Powerpuff Girls back in High School, but it went over kids heads back then. It would take a younger generation to really grab ahold of it, the same kids who liked Barney and Rugrats embraced the Girls and now here we are.

I really miss the Saturday Night Anime movies. They showed Vampire Hunter D, Twilight of the Cockroaches, Robot Carnival, all that good stuff. All the way into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Then on Sunday mornings they would show the Hanna Barbera shows they used to show on Sunday mornings in syndication in the Eighties like SuperTed, Midnight Patrol, Don Quixote, Yogi's Treasure Hunt, Galtar and the Golden Lance, and yes even Thundarr the Barbarian. But most of the time CN showed old school shows, which was good because most of that stuff was in a vault for so long it might've deteriorated without anyone seeing them, stuff like...

Top Cat, Yogi Bear, Jetsons, Flintstones, Space Ghost, Birdman, Jonny Quest, Herculoids.

I got it in the summer of 1999 (I think), right after Gundam Wing got done with its first airing. Thanks to the Midnight Run, I still have all the uncut episodes on tape. :)

Somewhere around 1998. Its best year was back when it wasn't invaded completely by Cartoon Cartoons, but had enough original programming to be new and have variety. I'd have to say 1999 or 2000.

I got CN when it first premeired back in the early 90's.

I was also one of those people who knew PPG would be a hit if it got a chance.

As for it's best year I'd have to say spring 2000- spring 2001 to me that was when Toonami really came into it's own, and we had some very interesting original shows appearing (like Sheep) Then came the whole Keilner debacle, and the Kids WB cross promotion and ehhh... But they did rebound in late 2001 Adult Swim, JLA, and Samauri Jack have all been fun.

wow. the memories. when i first got it, sailormoon was new to toonami's 3 HOUR BLOCK. it was early summer in chicago. i programmed the tv to turn on to cn when school let out. i think sailormoon was new...anyway, i think the year was 1998 or 99. but i liked the early years best. i used to watch cn at my friend's house. back then there was always something good on, when you exclude sunday's "mysteries, inc." and the scooby rip-offs. the powerpuff girls were nobodies--thick-lined, crudely drawn nobodies. man, cn is nothing like it was in, say, 1994.
