View Full Version : What's the deal with this Rising Sun Nonsense?

Why don't they just call the late Saturday night reruns of Superman and Batman the The Batman Superman Adventures with the TNBSA opening and closing credits instead of re-edited Toonami credits. The original TNBSA credits blow away the Toonami credits.

I totally agree with you on this one..I would really like to see them dump the Rising Sun crap openings and show the originals.

The Batman Rising Sun opening is okay (because I have seen the original opening so much). But I only like the Rising Sun opening as a suppliement instead of a replacement.
Sunday has the best packaging: A nice CGI commercial with the bat signal (much better than the JL CGI intro), and the original intro with theme song. Don't forget those nice Batman, Joker, and Two-Face lead-ins for the commercials (are those called inbetweeners or bumpers?). If they could squeeze in the Toonami intro with that, you would have the most heavenly-looking Batman show. Maybe even use any cleaned-up episodes from the DVDs.

What's really puzzling is why isn't Dragonball Z on Saturday mornings called Rising Sun. Sometimes, I really have to wonder about these people in charge of programming.

Here's what I think:
(1) I LOVE Toonami! :D I wish Toonami would get its own TV channel, in the same way that Boomerang did.
(2) I think that Justice League should be part of Toonami, and that all four Dini/Timm DC Universe TV shows -- B:TAS, S:TAS, JL, and BB -- should be run as a Toonami block on Sunday nights, in that order. That would rock!
Cartoon Network, Sunday nights: Toonami Block
---------------------------------
6:00 pm -- Batman: TAS
6:30 pm -- Superman: TAS
7:00 pm -- Justice League
7:30 pm -- Batman Beyond
----------------------------------
(all times Central)
(3) I love to see my favorite TV shows get the "Toonami Treatment"! :p Part of the fun in watching Toonami is to see what scenes they put together for the 'Tooami version' of the intro sequences, or the going to/coming from commercial breaks (What do you call those?). We all know what the official intro sequences look like -- so it's fun to see alternative intro sequences once in a while! Besides, I LOVE the Toonami version of the B:TAS intro sequence...

The real mystery is: For Superman, why do they play the theme music from the movie?

So the Rising Sun makes it's return (something a lot of Toonami fans have been waiting for) and it's a bad thing?
I mean, Toonami gets an extra hour each week (plus a nod to the long time fans) filled with something other than DB/Z, and we get Batman AND Superman. It's a victory people, take it. Stop looking at the glass as half empty.

That's like asking why they play the Danny Elfman theme for Batman.
Reason: They're cool.

Except that the Elfman theme was the theme to B:TAS.
