With FFXIII having been completed. Seems that Yoshinori's ready to talk about Final Fantasy XV. Here's more from scrawlFX

Final Fantasy XIII is almost out the door in the West, Final Fantasy XIV in lined up for sometime later this year, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII are to come some time after. You'd think Square Enix would relax with the Final Fantasy until everything announced is in consumers hands.

You'd be wrong.

"We've got a few ideas for Final Fantasy XV lined up," Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase told Xbox 360 World Magazine," but there is no singular aim for where we want the series to go. Final Fantasy can go in all directions, each one is very different from the last. The one thing we set out to do is to make sure we tell a story that hasn't been told before.

Could we expect it this gen? Final Fantasy XIII took five years but now the team has knowledge of the hardware.

Couldn't wait until versus and Agito got out of the door, could they?

Not that it isn't normal for them to have 3-4 Final Fantasies in production at all times, but let Nomura finish his other projects and put in new talent on the main series.

Yeah, it's too early. Not even Versus XIII or Agito XIII is close to completion.

It's not too early to at least plan the concept. I'll be surprised if the gap is shorter than the one between XII and XIII, but anything is possible I suppose.

I'm good with anything, but I'll echo the occasional wish for a next-gen Final Fantasy with a more medieval bent, kind of like IV. Not that I'm not really enjoying XII's setting, though. Still enjoying that game a lot (yeah, I'm late, I know).

I don't think FF 14 should affect 15 too much, considering they'd just be transferring 11's team.

What about 9?

I'm hoping more on the lines of versus XIII where you'd get a full open world and combat would be like Kingdom Hearts. Rather than transition to a empty battlefield.

That'd be good too. :) I just referenced IV since that's the one I'm familiar with.
