Batman looks awesome! Great work, John. And we get Joker as a bonus! Kind of reminds me of the Spider-Man sketch, but this one has some really cool shading on Bats.

I wonder if we'll get Joker in the sketch if Adam West ever wins.

Anyway, I think Bird Boy said it best:

Very very nice. Is it just me or does this Future Joker look amazing? His design plain rocks... and John's inks are just marvelous!

Bad News, everyone! I just had to reformat the c: drive of my desktop. I lost the last three months of e-mails. (I had set my store drive to be the d: drive, but outlook felt like resetting it to the c: drive without my knowledge. ) So, if you've e-mailed me with poll requests, or want to e-mail me with poll requests, now's a good time.

I think I have to say that the pictures are more interesting when there's the main winner and like a villain--- in these cases. It gives it more action and really balances out the image. Awesome picture!

Oh Man, What I've heard is true. You ARE awesome. That picture of BM is fantastic. If I could, I'd figure out some way to blow it up and frame it. keep up the good work!

WOW. Not just Batman Beyond, but also the Joker!

Mr. Delaney, you've definitely got the most generous definition of a "sketch" that I've ever seen! :p This is absolutely spectacular!

LOL. I wish I could draw humans like John can! They're like perfect. There's so much action, and 'strength' and the pictures are just moments from animating themselves before our eyes--- espically this Batman one. It wopuld have rocked to see the adam west batman, lol.

All I can draw are aliens and pug dogs--- and when I do humans they look awful! My newest Av is the picture I did of myself from Zeeltor's Galaxy (Zekklom 7). http://www.side7.com/cgi-bin/S7SDB/DisplayImg.pl?INO=104872

Hey before I forget--- John---What are the steps you go through for drawing--- do you draw it out on paper and scan and add the gray shadowing or do you do it entirely on computer? I've seen some impressive stuff on computer but I find it to be a bother. I'd say you penciled and ink your work and then scanned it, because you get superb line quality and variation. Excellent detail too.

Hi Delia
I rough it out in pencil, then tighten it up in inks using both brush and Rotring ink pen. I do the shadows(grey tones) in ink on a seperate level. Then I scan all the layers into photoshop and change the opacity on the shadow level . I then add in some lighting effects.
I'm really happy everyone is liking the stuff, when we first started doing the poll I just inked a drawing and sent it in but because everyone was so gratious I decided to add more to the drawings to pump them ( and hopefully everyone else) up. My only regret is that I didn't add shadows to the first Batman, Poison Ivy, Nightwing, Spiderman and Batgirls drawings. :(
Although there's something to be said for simplicity as well. ;)
Thanks
John

Looks good, as usual. Any chance of coloring this one Harley? I'm new to the "Sketch of the Week" threads, so I don't know if that's something you usually do or not. Last week's colored sketches were great (we all agreed on that) and I think we'd all like to see this one colored as well. Keep up the good work, both of you.

John

Perhaps you could show DC all of the sketches that you've done up for us and convince them to let you do all of their titles. After that you could work for Marvel and Image. Your artwork is amazing and I really enjoy seeing a new piece every week. Batman Beyond is one of my faves and you did a great job with him and the added Joker bonus is great :D:D

DUDE! Awesome--- and while I was on down-time (computer repairs) I picked up the Futurama comic issue 7 (the terminator parody) and I have to say that it's AWESOME! Very slick! My favorite was like page 17--- the huge picture of Bendernator wielding some very frightening weaponary againt Bender and Fry! Awesome!!

You're the best when it comes to Futurama Comics!

John does have talent, I will grant him that, but the drawing lacks alot in composition. My eye doesn't move around the drawing in one fluid motion like should. Its two different exercises to look at at Batman and to look at Joker.
But, hey, for a cartoon drawing, its still pretty good, and hell, I've seen worse.
And maybe I'm the only artist here, making me seem pompous.
