It is a crying shame that they lost. I swear that the game was rigged!! Somebody payed good money to keep Duke out of the final four and Indina in.

You can't rig shots...unless the basketball was remote controlled!! Really, in basketball, you can talk about your defense, or your defensive sets, or your effort, but in the end, it's all about putting the ball in the hoop. If you fail to put more balls in the hoop than the other team, you're screwed. Duke simply couldn't convert in the last quarter.

I meant that more foul shots were called on Duke and not enough on Indina!!!!! When your slapped while in possesion of the ball its called a foul!

My Reaction exactly... Oh well looks like Illinois is going to take it.

Is this anything new in the NCAA?

The saying is, "If we let teh refs decide the game for us, we won't win."

I agree that there were more questionable fouls called on Duke than Indiana. But their offense was obviously struggling down the stretch. These things happen. Good teams have bad nights.

EDIT: Brain fart on "NCAA"...I was thinking too much about my sad-sack Toronto NBA team while writing this...

Duke lost! YAY!!!!!!!! I was laughing so hard when I found out..... sorry CoolBlue, I guess it just proves that Duke isn't as invincible as they seem...... :D *does happy dance* :o uhhhhhhhhh...... anyway, it was just a game, there's always next year(that's what I tell myself every time one of my fav teams lose...) :p

Oh well, yes, there were some fouls that didn't seem right, or weren't called when they needed to be......... but you'll eventually get over it.

Not everybody is a Duke fan..........*looks around suspiciously* anyway, I'm sure there were many others as upset as you you are....... like my History teacher said,"Destiny over Dynasty".... he actually was referring to the World Series..... but I guess it works the same using Duke. :)

Duke will be a different team next year. Jason Williams will most assuredly grab ROY status in the NBA...but he needs to improve his foul shooting. 67% foul shooter? Blah, nobody's perfect...

5-18 shooting, Jason Williams line of that night. He was not having a good game, passing or shooting, either way you slice it.

Duke gets better just about every year. I'm not extremely happy they lost, but I'm not sad or angry that they didn't win(I was laughing because they lost by 1 point, and I'd do that to any team that lost like that). Duke is a good team, they have very talented players, and they deserve to win(never thought I'd say that  :o ).

note: I still hate Duke, and will continue doing so forever and always....... though, I hope Duke's players have better luck next time, and continue to work hard(even if they weren't working hard before) :)
(I'm nicer than people think I am ;) )

HAHAHA thats was the happiest moment of the tourney I didnt even care Illinois lost. Seeing Jason Williams miss the free throw was priceless and Boozer missing the next shot. I hate Duke and I love the BIG 10, GO HOOSIERS. Anyway last time i checked Duke wasn't this invinsible team. They lost to FSU and Virgina two teams thats DIDNT MAKE THE TOURNEY. Plus they almsot lost to Seton Hall. Anyway if it was rigged it would be to Duke. Duke gets every call that could go eithier way. The sad thing was IU was playing terrible and Duke still lost. JJ and Moye had good games but Coveradle looked awful. Well go IU make the big 10 proud and beat thosse big 12 thugs. GO ILLINOIS!!! GO IU!!!! GO BIG TEN!!! DUKE SUCKS!!!! IOWA SUCKS!!! MICHIGAN SUCKS!!!!

JASON WILLIAMS = BIll Buckner

hehehe ;) IM RANTING

Duke didn't get cheated. I'm a huge Duke fan but the blue devils played horrible. It wasn't the refs who blew a 17 point lead with less than 8 minutes in the 2nd half it was Duke. If any team in that game got phantom fouls called it was Duke. After all this Duke still had a chance to tie or win the game and Duke blew it. I'm a diehard fan of Duke, but I'm not going to be a sore loser and whine about events in the game that are totally unfactual.

Yep, good teams have bad nights especially in the unpredictable sport of basketball. A good team having an off night...in a playoff game...that's your whole season down the drain.

The problem with the NCAA format is that you only get one chance every round. If they fought Indiana 5 times or 7 times like in an NBA format, I assure you Duke would have come out on top.

That the whole point of the touranment. If you changed the format then there wouldn't be any upsets and March Madness wouldn't exist.

Yeah, sucks they lost. But they'll be back next year just as strong. Losing Jason is a big deal, but look at the up and comers on that team and the prospects they've got... you can't keep the Blue Devils down! 2K3 Champions, Baby!!!

I like Duke because of Coach K. I think Coach K is second only to John Wooden as the greatest college coach ever. I also like Duke because of their will to win. Duke won't give up to till the buzzer sounds. I think people are just jealous of Duke because Duke recruits well and their players stay for at leat three years or their players actually stay for four year and graduate.

You can't deny the fact that Coach K isn't one of the bests of all time, both college and NBA. Hell, most of the NBA coaches are beneath him. He's a motivator, and a great stradegist... and I'm from North Carolina and I'm not a Heels fan, so who else do I pull for?! And don't say UNCC- I like them, I went to school with Jobey Thomas even, but I don't like them more the Duke! Go Duke!!!

I probably hate duke beacuse of coach k. Hes always complaning on every call against him. I think Wodden, Henson, Smith, and probably Rupp are the greatest coaches ever. K aint bad though. I'll admit hes a good coach. You can route for Wake. ;)

I'm from NC (well, I live here anyway), and Duke is the LAST team I like(kinda).
I like Wake better than Duke! But anyway, I guess Duke is better than SOME NCAA teams(can't think of any now), and I have to get used to them because lots of my friends are Duke fans :(

But for me, my fav NC teams go as follows:
Heels(YAY!!!!! :D )
State
Wake
Duke
and I don't like UNCC all that much......... uhhhh, yup...... that's it......

That was what I was trying to say. You can't complain when the "better" team gets eliminated in this kind of format, like some of the people here are doing. One bad night and you're KAPUT!

IMO, Duke probably is the best team in the NCAA right now.

Hey, follow my drift. Talent-wise, it is the best team in the NCAA. It has one of the most active offensive sets in the college circuit, and when hot, they can't be beat.

What I'm saying is that it's the best team that had a bad night, and paid for it. Such is the merciless nature of the tourney.

Put them in a 7 game series with any NCAA team and Duke would come out on top, every time.

I know that Maryland would come on top there, but the best team is always the team that wins the tourney.

Not always. Usually. Like I said, you can't gauge a team's superiority over another team by just one game. It takes at least 5 games against the same team to get a sense of which team is really better.
