View Full Version : Is FF:WGH going to pull a Family Guy and go back into production?

I noticed that the recent advertisement for the last episode of FANTASTIC FOUR: WORLD'S GREATEST HEROES, is being called the "season" finale, instead of the "series" finale. Is it possible that this series might pull a FAMILY GUY, and go back into production and start making brand new episodes? Has the ratings on this series been that good on Nicktoons? I know the series has done extremely well in other countries.

As much as I enjoyed FF: World's Greatest Heroes and would love to see more episodes, I don't think so.

The reruns are doing well on Nicktoons, but not that well.

Besides, Nicktoons is the 2nd network that the show's been bounced to since its' cancellation in 2007. If no one's tried to revive the series yet, chances are no one's going to.

What happened with Family Guy was the exception, not the norm. FG was revived due to it's extremely high DVD sales coupled with the phenomenal ratings the show received while being rerun on [adult swim] on Cartoon Network, a mainstream cable network. FF:WGH isn't going to have that same luck on a bonus tier upgrade network like Nicktoons. Just because Family Guy and Futurama were brought back due to special circumstances doesn't mean that every canceled show has a chance of being revived. Sorry.

When Nicktoons first acquired it and promoted it about as well as they did with the newer shows, I wondered if that was a possibility, too. I can't imagine that it would be a priority for Marvel Animation but who knows ? It seems more like a pipedream than a possibility but I guess if NTN felt strongly enough about it, they could make a bid for it. NTN still has a strong rerun channel vibe and it would be cool if they had enough current and original shows to change that some day.

It's like they think kids will stop watching if they actually address that the show is over.

Well they said "series finale" when they promoted the end of the most recent SPEED RACER series last year. They also said the same thing when it came to showing the final episodes of both AVATAR and SKY LAND.

Yeah, I know, but I think that if the series is truly over, they would have said "series finale" instead of "season finale". And like I said in my first post, the FF series was a huge hit in the international market, and there were (a few years ago) rumors about a 2nd season was in discussion due to the series success in the international market.

Here's another possibility, maybe Marvel might be in talks with Nucktoons to develop a brand new FF series.

As a long time FF fan, I'd welcome that, but right now it doesn't seem like the FF is Marvel's top priority right now; their movies didn't exactly strike box office gold, so there's not much incentive to do anything new with the Four on TV at the moment.

How soon we'll see another Fantastic Four cartoon probably depends on how well the new upcoming FF live-action movie (said to be yet another reboot) does.

Yeah Family Guy got good ratings on Adult Swim for a long time and had excellent DVD sales. FF:WGH is a great show and very underrated but its never gotten close to FG ratings or consistent DVD sales. Not only that the show is very old, it came out shortly after the first FF movie and didn't even air its 26 episodes, they aired some more when the second FF movie came out but still didn't finish airing the show up until recently on Nick, and thats not even counting that Disney now owns Marvel and I doubt they want Nick airing more episodes.

Nope I don't think it has that much ratings even though I would love to see it happen.

I would definately be in favor of that. As long as it consists of more villians than Mole Man, Dr. Doom, Skrull, and Puppet Master (I think thats the guy who controls people out of clay). Because I was looking at a list of F4 villians and they have a lot that sound pretty intresting. Like the Frightful 4

While Disney owns Marvel now, I think they're leaving Marvel to it's own devices and wouldn't really interfere. If NickToons wanted to order episodes and Disney XD wasn't putting a bid in, I don't think they'd get a say as to where Marvel lets it air.

That what 4Kids did with Sonic X, and a third season was never produced.

Fantastic Four isn't cancelled it's just been on hiatus for awhile. Marvel just wants to test the water with this. Since the movie and how the show was treated on CN, Marvel is shaky on just putting FF on anything thats why they put it on NN because they saw their other 2 shows doing pretty well and are trying there best to make it work. Marvel wants to treat their first family better then what it's been treated.

Interesting if it's true, but where did you get the info about it being on hiatus?

When it got taken off CN I read a Marvel article that said it was on hiatus for the movie, then when it got moved to NN one of the animators that worked there and at Marvel had said in an interview they wanted to see how it would do and not to count it out just yet.

When something has been on hiatus for almost 3 years it's no longer testing the waters, it's lost at sea.

If Marvel was smart, they would create a FANTASTIC FIVE animated series based off of the MC2 series and featuring the children of the FF from an alternate future.

That probably wouldn't actually be a very good idea. Not a lot of people are super into the FF currently yet somehow making a series based off something as obscure as Fantastic Five( I wasn't even aware there was one and I read comics ) is a good idea?
