So...anyone that watched it what did you think. I'll post my thoughts later because I don't want to sway anyone either way. Respond please though...people from Cartoon Network frequent the board, so your opinions are appericated. :)

Most people actually posted their reviews in the Anitainment board, but it's mostly been positive. Some chatters were upset about the choices though, such as the frequent Dexter votes. But kids are kids.

Some things worked...some didn't.

The initial jokes by Bravo worked...I loved how they made fun of AOL, and the lame Live Action adaptations of cartoons. I wasn't as in awe of Bravo as Host. Bugs Bunny would have been a much better host....here's why...

These awards are ment to spoof the Acadamy Awards..who do they get to host the Academy Awards? Comedians who are widely known, and not in the mainstream anymore. (ie Billy Crystal) Bugs fits this to a T. Everyone knows Bugs...he hasn't had a real acting gig in a while...

Anyway, the show then plodded on through the awards. Best Female/Best Male...I understood. Best inanimate object was an obvious category to get Ed, Edd & Eddy an award...so when they also won Best Team..I was less than thrilled (I shoulda voted)
Worst Villian really confussed me...worst villian - Ameoba Boys inept villian? or Worst Villian - Mojo Jojo turning everyone on Earth in to dogs, and ruleing forever? there are two ways to take that, and given the winner, I assume it's the former.

The tributes were VERY cool, especialy the Chuck Jones addition. Having Porky present that part was a nice touch.

Scooby...I knew it was comming...Still not happy about it, but it was done somewhat decently.

My biggest complain in hindsight, were the live actors on the stage. They looked small. I realize they were sized so as to be at about the same hight as the cartoons...but cartoons are bulkier. The humans needed to be a bit bigger, and it wouldn't have looked so obviously chroma keyed...

And while "What's Opera Doc?" didn't win, at least I got to see "Rabbit of Seville!"

Well It was diffrent.
Some of the choices made me a weeeeee bit angry. I.E. Mach V winning over the far better "What's Opera Doc?" Not to insult "mach V' But i think that even the people who worked on the ep. would have said that "opera" was much better.

Scooby...I knew it was comming...Still not happy about it, but it was done somewhat decently.

I Hate scooby more than most people, but cutting him off (I.E Frank sinatra at the grammys while getting his lifetime achivement award) was humorus.

Lots of Inuendo. Cn will probobly get flack for that.

I wanted goober an the ghost chasers to win somthing so i could see this show.

Over all it was... diffrent. But good.

(Zorak For Best Villian!)

What on earth is Goober and the gost chasers other than a take off of scooby doo? Nominating them for almost everything was just to take up space I guess. Didn't see the entire thing, but glad that The Barber of Seville won!!

I have to give the producers credit for accurately re-creating the feel of a real Academy Awards show. There were the lame jokes juxtapositioned with better ones, the awkward pauses & accutely embarassing moments, a genuinely moving tribute to recently departed animators, and presenters running through the whole spectrum of quality (worst of the evening: that kid who introduced the 'Beat Alls' clip. It deserved better!) They even managed to convey a sense that this thing was running on too long.

Of course, I could never muster any real concern about who won, since I couldn't take the nomination process seriously. It's absurdly inappropriate to pit classic eps like 'What's Opera, Doc?' against recent releases. And IMO 'Goober & The Ghostchasers' shouldn't have been nominated for anything except 'Most Blatant Rip-Off.' Plus there was that glaring omission from the Villains category, which I've already commented on.

But taken just as a piece of entertainment, it had suffcient redeeming moments for me to rate it Better Than Average.
Certainly not worse than your average *real* awards show!

I dont understand why they tacked on two catagories that they wouldnt let people to vote for (Meaning the Inanimate Object and Hiney catagory) But Plank won one of them so it doesnt mater and i'd also like to say BOW TO THE WINNERS OF BEST TEAM!!!!!

I thought it was good how you knew the votes actually were counted by them cutting to the episode. Will they possibly aire it next weekend, I need to tape then archive.

Yea! The Eds totally deserved best team, but for some reason i doubted theyd win against the Powerpuff girls. I thinks its becuz Powerpuff girls is the more popular show. I liked the award show thingy, but just like above, the nominations werent all that great. What the !@#% is Goober and the Ghost chasers????

Yeah! Eds won for best team! They really deserved that! I was worried they'd loose to the PPGs. And when Plank won, that was hillarious!

It was cool to see Captin Linger, but I wish they had some other Adult Swim characters. They should of had a "Best Adult Swim Show" catagory.

I was surprised they didn't nominate 'Tom and Jerry,' or 'Porky and Daffy,' or 'Roadrunner and Coyote' for "Best team."

The parts I liked the best were the musical numbers, especially the tribute to dancing with the Harman-Ising Merrie Melodie characters. I also loved the tributes to Hanna, Noble, and Jones they did.

I liked the Fancy Anvil Awards; I thought it wouldn't be so good since the ppg were in so many of the categories, but I decided to tape it anyway in case the Eds do win, and they did!!! :D The moment Plank won for "Best Inanimate Object" just made me so happy, that I almost called it out in my neighborhood! My biggest excitment was when the Eds won for "Best Team." OMG! That made me just go really, really happy! I had always had faith that the Eds would win, and they actually did!!! (I must confess) I actually cried for joy that they won, and against the ppg too!

P.S. - I really liked Plank's acceptance speech. hehee ;)

Not for one moment could I take the nominations seriously, for reasons outlined in my above post.

But even if I could, the three examples you mentioned wouldn't qualify- they're paired antagonists, not teams.

Prehaps that category will be included in the next awards show?

I dunno, Porky and Daffy did work together as a team on numerous occasions. Does "team" mean the characters must always be friends, never rivals?

American Heritage Dictionary defines 'team' as "a group organized to work together."

While it's true Daffy and Porky have occasionally worked together, it's only been as a temprorary arrangement- Daffy's ego would never allow anything else. So they aren't a team in the sense that that's part of their series format. To judge from the groups that were nominated, that's probably an Academy requirement.

I can't think of many cartoons in Daffy and Porky split up because of Daffy's ego, but I guess you have a point. Usually, when they are paired up (except for the genre parodies), tension comes from their conflicting personalities. Daffy being more a free crazy character while Porky is more reserved.

I had a few gripes with the show and here they are, in no particular order.

-If CN doesn't want kiddies watching Adult Swim, why was Captain Linger presenting an award? They had to go so far as to say Zorak was nominated for "1960's Space Ghost" on CN.com because of the AS "adult programming." This I didn't get.

-The shorts shouldn't have been shown. They took up valuable awards time. They could have had more awards instead of the cartoon cartoons everybody's seen. Rabbit of Seville was a healthy exception to that.

Now, what I liked:

-Plank

-the Eds winning best team.

-the jokes

-the tributes

If I remember anything else, I'll post it.

I think all the nominations with Goober and the Ghostchasers were just fillers.. to me there always seems to be at least one person/group/etc., in any awards ceremony, where you just have to ask, "huh?" What I mean is that pick an award show.. there's always someone who is nominated and you just know that they really dont even deserve to be in the same category as some of the other nominees.
I was surprised at some of the winners and I wonder how the producers of the show came up with who they did to win. I know fans could have some input by voting but I thought the Beat Alls and the ppg's would sweep the night if that was truly the case.
Anyhoo, that's my 2c's.

If I recall, Goober and the Ghost-Chasers wasn't on the ballot for when you voted. It makes sense that they wouldn't win.

I definitely remember that show being on the ballot. Th reason it didn't win is probably because nobody who voted knew what it was.

Or, even worse, because they *did* know what it was.

One doesn't have to be an admirer of 'Scooby Doo' to be annoyed by such a flagrant rip-off.

I'm glad the Ed's won cause, let's face it, they are the best team. They lose everytime they try something and still stay a team!

Another reason is because I knew if the Eds were in a catagory with the puff, I forsaw that they would lose cause the puff get everything they want and are nominated for (I hate that, just like being nominated with "Rugrats".) So when the team award was given, I was pretty pleased.

As far as Plank winning inanimate object, DUH! what else is there? The way he was presented was so funny, cause yah didn't hear anything and everyone laughed. clever. That's why they didn't let us vote.

I like the award show. can't wait for the 2nd 13th anual Fancy Anvuls.
