A very cute kitten has taken up residence in my backyard. I'd like to give it a name, but I'm lousy at that sort of thing. To the best of my knowledge, it's a female kitten. Here's what it looks like:

Here are some more pics:
Close-Up #1 (http://www.toonzone.net/eileen/images/personal/070401/kitten05.jpg)
Close-Up #2 (http://www.toonzone.net/eileen/images/personal/070401/kitten09.jpg)
Any ideas?

Well, she's a snappy dresser....Socks? She looks like she's wearing socks, just like that other cat by Beverly Cleary.

If I had a cat, I'd name it Annoying Customer.

hey, how do I post personal pics like that, if I wanted to? There are times I want to, but haven't figured out a way.

Actually, Harley already has a cat named Socks, so I wouldn't want to use that since it could cause some confusion.
Calhoun, you need to upload your pic someplace (http://www.photopoint.com is a popular place), and just put the picture's address between IMG tags (or use the IMG button on the typing screen).
You could go the easy route and name her a cartoon cat/character name, like Honey.
She's so cute:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Oreo?
Bright Eyes?
Matilda?
Tina?
Catherine? (can be shortened to "Cat" for nickname!)
Glowy?
Fluffy the Killer Cat of Death and Destruction and Master of All [S]he Surveys II?
Bitey?
Chases-Her-Tail-ey?
I'll probably think of better ones later. It's hard to think when I try.

Um...I think I'll pass on explaining the difference between boys and girls to Brian....
Just from looking at her, I'd suggest Penelope. You really need to base the name on her personality, which doesn't carry well into a single photograph.

Rita. Definitely, definitely Rita.
Or possibly Precious.

Can we vote on these names? Aside from Annoying Customer, this is my really favorite name suggested so far!
I'm not very good at names either, but heres my .02: Mittens (kind of a variation on socks!).

And since she does, may I suggest the name he gave his cat: Dakota.
Other names that popped into my mind:
-Elvira (the wiskers did that for me, and her coat kind of hangs like Elvira's dress)
-Mask or Masqurade (she looks like she's wearing a mask over her nose and eyes)
-Flicker (the name my dad was going to give his other cat he never got)
-Miss Kitty (sounds cheesy, but my grandpa named one of his cats that--the other being Matt Dillion)
-Dumb Cat
-Dumb _______ (insert insulting word/phrase here) :p
-Spot (after Data's cat)
-Phantom
-Catbertte
-Mochrie (don't ask)
-Dinkle (again, don't ask)
-El Gato
-Katze (or Die Katze)
-Watchdog
-Can Opener
-The Siren
And a couple of others that I can't post on an all ages board!! :D

Thanks, everyone, for all the name suggestions! Keep them coming! I'll put up a poll later with my favorite names.
About it's personality... it's very, very scared. It's nearly impossible for me to catch it, cause one step towards it and it runs off. The only I time I can grab it is when it's eating. And even then all it does is scratch me up and try frantically to get away. It seems to like Harley better than me. It was calm enough while she was holding it that I was able to take those close-up pictures.
How about:
Scratch
Fraidy Cat
Genome (named after my brother's friend's cat, who acts the same way...)
That's all I can think up...
Jack:D
or there's Psycopathic Kitty of Rage and Destruction (Psyco for short)....

Here are some more that crossed my mind, most of them are kind of cutesy...
Pussyfoot
Kitten
Laura
Mew Mew
Clicker
Flier
Mooch
Shtinky Puddin'
Lightning
Hannibal
Hannah
Kitt
Peach
Zippy
Nero
Allicat
Billy Boy Boy Boy (if she is a he...)

Well, let's see, considering her personality, Skittish Kittish comes to mind, Skitty Kitty for short. But it'd probably be too easy to get the name dirty. How about Socks II, or maybe Silver Age Socks vs. Golden Age Socks? But that might be more appropriate to a cat owned by Brainatra than Brian. Jack, if he's a she, she could be named Billie-girl-girl-girl. Hey, how about Billie? Umm, Pinky? Pat Bunny? Phar Fignewton? Furrball?

Golly, thanks! It's 'II' because it's named after my cat, Fluffy the Killer Cat of Death and Destruction and Master of All He Surveys.

Well... if you want something sick and twisted and demented, how bout something like:
Roadkill
Chew Toy
More "normal" choices:
Shadow
Nightshade
Dark Knight
Craig's Worst Nightmare
Bubba (or Bubette, for female ;) )
Hey You
Cat
I really like this topic, but I also really like cats.
What about "Kit Kat," that's what one of my cats was named when I was in 2nd grade. He ran away, though.:( I think Kit Kat is a very nice name for a cat, and it comes off nicely.
But if I had a new little kitty cat to have and to and hold, I would name her George. I would hug her and hold her and stroke her and take her for walks and put her to sleep at night and pet her little head....

After just seeing the cat in "A Hick, a Slick and a Chick", Herman (also mistaken as Erman) comes to mind -- if it's a male.

Hello, Kero! Welcome to toonzone. I assume you're into CCS; you'll have something in common with RockItShipper & Leaping Larry Jojo.
About bonsaikitten, I've heard about this @ length on RoRos groups & the TTA clubs. I think it's not for real, but I wouldn't know as I haven't deigned to grace it with a hit from me. Why add to their count? There's efforts to get it shut down, as it has been in the past; but I'll ignore it & maybe it'll go away.

Gem or Jewel? Flint? She's black, and the way we treat cats, she's in like Flint.
Dido -- which means toy or trifle. Or you could simply call her Toy.
Along those same lines, Puppy or Poppy or Poppet or Pet.
Flame?
Whatever name you choose, keep it short and memorable. Find something you wouldn't mind calling out at midnight if she got lost (God forbid).

Yes, Bonsai Kitten is a joke, just like Landover Baptist Church. Worry not. Welcome, Kero-chan. Cool show, huh?

E. PENROSE:
Dido -- which means toy or trifle.
Dido was the queen who founded Carthage. After her husband died, she fell in love with another man despite her vows to honor the late king. After Aeneas (try to pronounce that name without it sounding dirty), her lover, left her she killed herself on a funeral pyre she'd had built. There's also a pop singer by that name, who basically sounds like Alanis after she lost her anger (and her record sales went down the porcelain). Of course, some people, thinking they're being funny, will add an l to that name. Reminds me of a puppy I named Bernadette (after the divine Ms. Peters)--my brother always referred to her as "Burn-to-death" or "Bern-a-b****".
I suppose a name that can be easily altered in case you misjudge the sex would be best...that's how Tiger Lily, a silver tabby, got her name (Mom picked the first name when we thought she was a boy; after we realized she wasn't, I added the second half).
Maybe you could name it after a favorite actress or TV/movie character. In British slang cats are called "moggies"... conversely, "cat" is a slang word meaning "to vomit". Twisted language those Brits have....

He'd get shredded. Kitties typically don't take much guff, even at a young age.
You could make the same argument against WB cartoons, so you might want to be work on that....

You could make the same argument against WB cartoons, so you might want to be work on that.... Well see it is easy to come to the conclusion that if you walked of the cliff or got hit by an anvil you would be in seroius plain at the very least, your own instincts usally kick in to stop your self from doing stupid things like that. This sight does not come off that easily as we are just kidding they went a bit too far and made it look too legit
I have to agree with Psycho Fox, that site comes off as too real, someone may actually try this, if they haven't already. It really is sick, there is a very notable difference between this and a cartoon, when a cat gets electricured in a cartoon, it looks fake, like a cartoon. This looks very, very real.

Dido Twite is the fighting heroine of a number of novels by Joan Aiken. Try, for example, _Dido and Pa_.

I'm starting to think that "Hannibal" would be an appropriate name for the kitty. When I went into my backyard this morning, the kitty was chewing on a freshly killed bird. A gruesome sight, to say the least. And now I realize that the kitty must be the one responsible for the other bird carcasses I've seen over the past few weeks. The kitty also has a habit of chasing flies, stomping on them, and chewing them up. It especially likes to do that with fireflys. Nice to see that it's predatory instincts are working properly...

The thing's a bird-eater, huh? Time to finally weigh in:
Featherbane (or maybe just "Bane")
Shredder
Bloodbath
Col. Sanders
Winger
Henry (you know, that chicken hawk that's always trying to eat Foghorn Leghorn)
Sylvester's Revenge
Wile E. Kitty
Stalker
K-Rex (Kittysaurus Rex)
Avian Genocide
And I can't believe no one has suggested the classic cat name from Earthworm Jim:
Evil the Cat
