Okay. Blackface gags, suicide jokes, extreme violence, or racist remarks I can see being edited. but CN could easily restore some edits that really don't need to exist anymore. I'll run through a list (and remember, I'm beiong fair here, I'm thinking like a censor.)
"Gift Wrapped"
what could be considered the funniest scene in this entire cartoon is now edited on CN. Sylvester finds an Indian costume and archery kit in the presents, and uses it to hunt Tweety. However, the scene is certainly not offensive, since no Native Americans appear. And what really bugged me today was that CN aired the clip toon "Tweet Dreams", with the entire scene left in. Even if Warner won't send a new copy, can they not just replace it using "Tweet Dreams"'s footage?
"Claws for Alarm"
This cartoon used to air with only a minor cut, but over about 3 years it has been losing more and more footage, and is now time-compressed. In short, this is a mess. It's not just lightly sped up, tolerable anyway, but RUINED, like "Dough For the DoDo". I think CN did most of these cuts, and why shouldn't they fix them now? The gags here are no more violent than Tom and Jerry or Wile E. Coyote, in fact less so because nothing bad ACTUALLY HAPPENS to Porky or Sylvester. Besides, the noose-and-razor gag is the funniest part of the picture!
"Daffy's Inn Trouble"
This cartoon is fine, except for the little gun gag. There is a scene that has Daffy trying to show off with a gun, and it ends up blasting his face. Now, this is TAME compared to some of the nasty things that happen to Tom Cat (TNT, beheadings, mousetraps, guns, mallets, irons, ironing boards, sharp objects, bowling balls) and similar gags show up in other LT cartoons (take, for example, Wild and Woolly Hare, in which Bugs and Sam actually shoot EACH OTHER in the face.) Besides, Daffy's gun mishap only lasts a few seconds.
"Drip Along Daffy"
Okay. We all know this one, the most ridiculous edit I have ever seen in a cartoon. 'Twould be different on any other cartoon, but the folks at Warner who did this should know better than to do this, particularly to such a popular Chuck Jones laugh riot like this.
"Baby Bottleneck"
They show the drunk stork uncut on the Bob Clampett Show, plus all those cartoons that have people getting drunk, like "Wise Quacks", "I Wanna Play House", "Mouse on 57th Street", "to name but a few, they're 0n all the time. Why edit it elsewhere?
