View Full Version : Delays in Comics - Out of Hand, or Just Me?

Is it just me getting overly annoyed with it, or is there a legit problem with comic delays recently? As of late I’ve had multiple stories spoiled because of ongoings catching up to when a mini was supposed to end.

Last night, I cracked open the latest issue of “Justice League of America.” Lo and behold, as this is the first issue establishing the new line-up for the team, there’s a recap page for what’s led up to this, spoiling the ending of the “Cry for Justice” mini-series. It’s no uncommon fact that “Cry for Justice” has been delayed a lot. Heck, the most recent issue, #6, replaced the artist of the series because of the delays. And yet it still couldn’t get out in time.

Captain America’s had this problem as well. The “Reborn” epilogue, “Who Will Wield the Shield” came out before the mini ended, and even had a warning on the first page that it would spoil the outcome, and apologizing for that. Both of last years “New Avengers” and “Dark Avengers” minis even spoiled the outcome because “Reborn” could not make it out in time.

Heck, look at “Flash: Rebirth.” Barry Allen is all over the place with “Blackest Night,” and yet the mini explaining how he’s even back at all hasn’t even ended yet.

Maybe this isn’t something new, but it just seems that way to me. Probably with it affecting other series. With titles like suffered delays like “Ultimates,” it didn’t affect anything but itself, yet with these, it’s ruining other series.

Is anyone else feeling the sting of this? And if so, how would you rectify it? Just keep delaying it? Or does it get to a point where you just replace the offending party and keep going with it?
