View Full Version : What Did You Buy/Get This Month? - February 2010

Hello and welcome to the gaming purchases/gifts thread for February 2010. Whatever you bought or got as a gift during these 28 days that's video-game-related - games, systems, accessiories, add-ons, or the 100% real Tekken 6 TapouT shirts (http://shop.tapout.com/index.cfm?fa=c.template&template=Tekken.html&showcartnav=1) - should be posted here.

Welcome to month 2 of "The Great 2009 Migration," where a bunch of games - big and small - migrated out of the Holiday 2009 window, making this time of the year eventful yet dangerous. Eventful? Games like Bioshock 2, Dante's Inferno, Aliens Vs. Predator, Sonic & Sega All-Stars, White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain, the Lunar remake, Star Ocean 4 on PS3, Fireteam Bravo 3, and Heavy Rain are all coming out this month. Dangerous? Dante's Inferno and Bioshock 2 are coming out on the same day, along with Star Ocean PS3 (which may make less money than Squenix title Pony Friends 2).White Knight and Lunar share the same day, too. Heavy Rain has to compete with a kart racer featuring Sonic. And, let's not forget the potentially good smaller titles (those even smaller than the Lunar remake like Chime and Darwinia+) that may be lost in the shuffle.

Everything is culled from IGN.com. Special editions and special re-relases are detailed (excluding the "International" versions because White Knight never came to the US before and Star Ocean PS3 isn't game-changing). Expansions are noted. ALL RELEASE DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Data East Arcade Classics for sure. (Preordered from their site)

We need more comps with late 80s/early 90s stuff instead of always the same material.

Wow, other than Bioshock 2, this looks to be a pretty slow month for non-PS3-owners. That's fine by me, though: I've got a massive backlog of stuff from last holiday season and this January to catch up on.

From the looks of it, my confirmed purchases for this month are Bioshock 2, the collectors edition, the new Miles Edgeworth game, and Sam and Max Season 2 for the Wii. Anything else will pop up later.

January looked like it was a strong month for all gamers, and I'm actually curious whether the rest of these months can top last month.

Anyway, I didn't buy anything yet, but my sister bought Onimusha 2 (I'm real skeptical about it since I hated the first Onimusha. Stupid Resident Evil camera/control type setup) and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (I was actually hoping it'd be Double Agent, but "shrugs"). She intends on sending them some time this month. (Hopefully soon, I really want to try out SC)

Only two games interest me this month: Chime and Metal Slug XX. Still got to get through my massive backlog of games from the holidays, the Xbox games from last week, and massive spending on PSP games since 2009. Still won't stop me from spending and not playing, though.

Also bought the PAIN Downtown and Hot Shots Golf tables for Pinball Heroes and picked up The free Unkut Pack for Saints Row 2 (X360).

Whew. Not much in terms of games for February, save for Ace Attorney Investigations. January did it in for my wallet with regards to games, with the three-way tag team of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, No More Heroes 2, and Mass Effect 2.

Speaking of which, just recently purchased the Collector's Edition earlier. Good stuff.

As the forums were down on Saturday, I didn't get to say that I picked up Area 51 and PaRappa (a buy back of a game I owned a loooooong time ago) for PS1.

All the talk about pinball on the PSN thread has made me buy Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection for the PSP off of the Playstation Store. Got 15 minutes and 75% left to download.

One game interest me this month of February Dante's Inferno on the 9th. The trailer for the animation movie looks absolutely awsome as well! The game demo on xbox live was pretty good...reminds me of God Of War. =)

Telltale games gave out a survey last month, and I took it. So they emailed me a free game code today. I downloaded Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, since it does not seem to let me download all five chapters for free.

And rest assured, my survey told them to make more Grim Fandango and Maniac Mansion games.

I have a pre-order down for BioShock 2 to pick up Tuesday while I'm at school. Geez, with Bayonetta, No More Heroes 2, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom in January, and now BioShock 2, Heavy Rain, and Resident Evil 5 DLC in February, 2010 is going to be murder on my poor wallet. Not to mention I'd also like to get the Miles Edgeworth game, Dante's Inferno, and maybe Aliens vs. Predator in the near future.

I also want to get Deadly Premonition. The graphics are terrible but it's a horror game, and I'm a sucker for the genre. Plus it's going to be a mere $20.

T-minus 7 seven days until I get a Playstation 3. Finally. I sold my X-Box 360 in anticipation of picking up the PS3 on the 4th when my financial aid was to be disbursed. That disbursement didn't happen. Won't until the the 14th. SO I guess that will be what I am spending Valentine's Day with hahaha. Not really, but at least a little bit of the day.

So yeah... PS3 this month.
Gamewise, I haven't a frickin' clue. I know I will be picking up Star Ocean: Last Hope International, Dante's Inferno, and Tekken 6. Beyond that I have no idea what is good! Before I sold the X360 it had been like a year before I did anything with it besides use it as a DVD player and to play classic Sonic. So suggest games! I'm open mostly to RPG, Action/Adventure, and Fighting. Very much dislike sports (unless there is a Lacrosse game out there somewhere?), racing, and first person shooters.

Spiderman 3 (PS3 & PC versions are the best:D)
Both Ratchet & Clank Future games
Tales of Vesperia--a better remake of the 360 game:D
Wet--interesting Tomb Raider clone:)
Final Fantasy XIII
Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Street Fighter IV--a must have!:D
Valkyria Chronicles
Soul Caliber IV--a must have!:D
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2

I've gotten BioShock 2 in the mail yesterday (and so far it's... well, it's not terrible, let's put it that way) for the Xbox 360. Also, thanks to two Amazon promotional deals, $10 for buying BS2 and the Buy Two Platinum Hits, Get One Free promo, I've managed to snag three additional 360 games (Ninja Gaiden II, Burnout Paradise, and Lego Star Wars Complete Saga) for just $30.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot! I also downloaded Chime on Live Arcade, as well.

Awesome Sonic and Sega All star racing is coming out this month. I just gotta get the Wii and DS version, and I pray to god that after moments of buying the game the hackers haven't already found a to cheat their way to victory.

Anyways I was browsing my DSi store since I haven't done it since the day of the release but anyways I saw they're was a "free" section I didn't remember and so anyways I checked it out and I saw Flipnote Studio was there and so I got that.

Decided to get Duke Nukem 3D for Xbox 360 while the Deal of the Week was still up for it. I also started getting tired of playing only a bunch of 360 games in a row, so I bought some used games for cheap: Air Combat and Ace Combat 2 for the PlayStation, and Virtua Racing and Battle Arena Toshinden Remix for the Sega Saturn. I haven't heard great things about the latter two, but I can't help it, I have this odd fascination with the Saturn's US library, ever since before the system was even released.
