Cameos and hints of the crew in animation

Normally this doesnt often occur much in animation, but however there is usually a cameo of someone who worked on the animated film or short. And sometimes a hint like a name or something else. So in what animated films have you seen cameos of the crew who worked on the movie? And when I mean by the crew I mean animators, storyboard artists, and directors. So what animatied films have you seen a cameo or a hint of someone who worked on the film? And voice actors can count as well...

Disney has done this a few times I think.

Joe Murray made a cameo in that one Rocko's Modern Life episode where he dreams of being big.

Do you consider voice actors as part of the "crew"? If so, we can't forget that one Chowder episode where the animation budget runs out and it cuts to the voice actors in the recording booth.

Termite Terrace (the WB cartoon studio in the 40's) had a lot of caricatures of in-house staff in their cartoons (I believe the tradition of behind-the-scenes in-jokes and "gag" references that have become commonplace in cartoons today originated at Termite Terrace). Take a look at Russian Rhapsody (1944) and all the Gremlins are caricatures of in-house staff (http://gregbrian.tripod.com/hidden/hid06.html).

I liked the cameo in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episode "One False Movie". An upset Eduardo writes a letter to the crew of the show-within-a-show Lauren is Explorin' about pooting... and the creator ends up being Craig McCracken himself. The show's title also refers to writer Lauren Faust, who is apparently depicted as a parody of Dora. XD

I also know Craig did this a lot with PPG.

Also, I dunno if this counts because this was a live-action cameo, but when Flapjack did those two "drawn inside a live studio audience" segments, both of them started with a brief clip of Thurop van Orman working on a storyboard (I think it was him anyway).

One episode of Nick's Angry Beavers opens with Norbert reading a letter from the mail announcing the birth of Richard Horvitz (the actor who voiced Daggett)'s son. After Norb finishes reading the letter, Daggett asks, "Who's Richard Horvitz?" to which Norbert replies, "No idea".

The Batman: The Animated Series episode "Joker's Favor" depicts Mr. J. blackmailing an ordinary family man named Charlie Collins, who's a caricature of the show's story editor Alan Burnett.

Plus, the two old guys watching the big action sequence at the end of the movie are caricatures of legendary Disney animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston (who also provided their voices).

Also Aladdin directors John Musker and Ron Clements appear in the crowd in one scene ("Another suitor for the Princess").

That reminds me of that one episode of Dexter's Lab where his dad is watching a golf tournament and he's following the play by play of a "Mister McCracken" trying to get himself out of a absurdly large hole he dug himself into. Apparently Craig isn't a particularly good golfer.

In the climax of The Powerpuff Girls Movie, a chemically-enhanced Mojo Jojo rips open the side of a skyscraper to reveal what is actually the second floor of Cartoon Network Studios, complete with caricatures of actual employees.

I think I figured out that was a cameo the first time I saw the movie.

Invader Zim, Rugrats and the Simpsons have done this many times, and the commentaries on the Zim and Simpsons DVDs identify some of them.

In pretty much every episode of Mighty Mouse - the New Adventures, there's a caricature of Ralph Bakshi, and sometimes the other animators as well. In one scene, a guy talking in a phone booth starts drawing a caricature of John Kricfalusi in the air for no reason. In "Night of the Bat-Bat," a picture of a superhero on the wall who looks like Bakshi is called 'Ralph-Man', and in one of the last couple of episodes, there's a director who looks (and talks, if I remember correctly) like Bakshi, and is addressed as 'RB'.

A puppet version of C.H. Greenblatt made a cameo appearance in a couple episodes of Chowder. Most notably is "Schnitzel Quits", where he convinces Schnitzel that they (Mung, Chowder, and Truffles) need him back.

Nabeshin, aka Shinichi Watanabe, appears in, I believe, every series he directs, albeit as somewhat of an exaggerated caricature (though he DOES sport hair that wild). Also, in Excel Saga, we see a brief still shot cameo of Junichi Higashi, the show's art director, in episode 16, as they were making fun of how the episode didn't use any new sets (though that isn't true) and they're blaming him for being lazy.

Anouther instance when this happened on Tiny Toons is the episode "Fields of Honey where several Eddie Fitzgerald caricatures are laughing in the audience watching the Honey cartoons.

There's a lot of cameos in BTAS; just a few days ago I was watching the commentary track for "Harley and Ivy," and they mentioned a lot of episodes have pseuco-caricatures of Bruce Timm and other creators, including the three hecklers in that episode.

I recall Bruce Timm and Paul Dini were in the crowd shot of "Legend of the Dark Mite," too.
