DX VS. STRAIGHT EDGE
They're back! Unified Tag Team Champions DX are coming to SmackDown tonight to defend their titles against No. 1 Contenders CM Punk and Luke Gallows. Can the straightedge duo dethrone the champions?
NO DISQUALIFICATIONS!
After a tag team win over Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre on last week’s SmackDown, John Morrison will face McIntyre in a No Disqualification Match for his title tonight. Can The Friday Night Delight regain the coveted title that was once his?

wow.. flipped over for the first time in a long while and I got way to many minutes of more "micky james is fat" crap. That was enough to turn me off for the rest of the night.

Is it just me, or is the quality of the show inversely proportional to Batista's involvement in it? We had two phenomenal matches -- McEntyre vs. Morrison and HBK vs. Mysterio -- and a few other decent matches as well. Even though HHH vs. Punk and HBK vs. Mysterio both ended with interference, they also both reached a good ending spot. Or in the case of the latter, an INCREDIBLE ending spot. That superkick is going to be in the intro within a few weeks, mark my words.

Well uh... you chose poorly. Everything else on the show was great.

Man, I was so pulling for Morrison to win the Intercontinental championship. Regardless of his loss, it was a great match.
Also, Triple H's promo actually made me laugh for once. I agree with him about how Punk speaks of a SxE lifestyle, but looks just like a drug user. Not a big fan of his chest hair (bad memories of A-Train), but his stable could be interesting if they had more charisma.

I gotta say this is the best Smackdown I've seen in a while IMO. The only thing I dis-liked was the Piggy James segment. I thought it was a waste of time. Although that would build up for the Royal Rumble.
Morrison/McIntyre "No Disqualification" match was good. I seriously thought Morrison would win that but it all came up to McIntyre to steal the match. Highlights of the match: Morrison flipping McIntyre on steel steps. The way Morrison did it reminded me of the Foley/Orton match when Orton was going for the RKO and Foley reversed it, making Randy land on the thumbtacks.
The opening was good. I thought that Rey and Shawn were gonna get along but that didn't go too well. I guess Shawn and HHH didn't remember Wrestlemania 22 eh? It's kind of funny how Rey won the WHC and HHH lost to Cena and now we're back to HHH talking smack.
Rey/HBK match was awesome. This match had alot of suspense and the Sweet Chin Music to Rey-Rey from the top rope was beautiful. Cole was right, that was perfect timing. I wonder how Shelton Benjamin would feel if he saw that....:p. And it was a perfect match until Bats showed up. I so hope he doesn't mess up the Taker/Rey match. All in all, this was a great Smackdown.

Decent Smackdown. The Mickie James stuff is boring

What worked:
HBK-Mysterio. Best match on the show (DUH!). I had flashbacks to that Raw match Shawn had with Shel Benjamin, as Mr. Freeze did. Day-ammnnn!!! :D :D :D :D Best. Superkick. Ever. :D :D :D :D
The ending, of course, was predictable. ;) :p
HHH-CM Punk. The pre-match promo by Hunter was hys-freakin'-terical. Poor Serena. 2nd week in, and she gets Amy Winehouse & Britney Spears references. If you want to go further, can we suggest Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), around "Alien 2", I think? Nice to know Hunter's up on current celebrity news. :p ;) :D
Morrison-McIntyre, Part IV: Grish says the "steel steps" are 100 pounds each, so D-Mac sells it by "struggling to lift the top step". Great promo by Morrison pre-match.
R-Truth upsetting Jericho. I'd think Chris would get a win back next week, but if they're punishing Hurricane by taking him out of the rumble for "drunken play fighting" in a cab with Jericho, then they should give Jericho similar punishment to be equal and fair. Truth has pinned Jericho 2 weeks in a row. That should mean something, shouldn't it?
What didn't work:
Me-Chelle McCool's comedy act with Layla as "Piggy James". Unfunny and -1000 credits to the writing monkeys for perpetuating this nonsense far longer than it should be. I know Vince is a few fries short of a happy meal from a creative standpoint, but all this does is it says to me that Me-Chelle McGoldbrick's title reign is on borrowed time. Couldn't Undertaker have taught her anything about respecting your rivals?
As punishment, I'd take her off the air and have her as one of UT's masked druids for a year.
Long story short, this angle has gone on way too long. It ends tonight, or else!

Please remember that Rumble spoilers do not belong in WWE talkbacks that took place before it. Comments made without any Rumble event knowledge...
I liked how Mysterio confronted Shawn about his plans to face Undertaker. HBK is overlooking a lot of things in his quest and I liked Rey-Rey reminding him of that. I too enjoyed Triple H's comments towards Punk under the "funny because it's true" category. Serena may be straight edge, but she seems a bit crazy with her willingness to attack HHH like that.
Chris Jericho is just not building a lot of momentum since he & Big Show lost the Tag Titles. Losing to R-Truth, he doesn't have a lot to carry him into the Rumble match.
I was kind of hoping Morrison would get the big win here and take the belt back, but unfortunately he did not. Good match though. How Morrison and McIntyre were not announced for the Rumble on Friday is beyond me.
Another unfunny segment from Michelle & Layla as the bullying continues. No actual Mickie on this night (despite what Lay-Cool would claim) so hopefully this ended at the Rumble (remember, no spoilers here).
I don't care what anyone says, 'Rumble by the Numbers' is fun to watch and I'm glad it's on every WWE show prior to the Rumble. I've even watched it extra times.
I enjoyed Batista trying to mess with HBK and then HHH showing up to get his former protege to back down. That was just a great little moment.
The Animal would not lay off for long though, attacking Shawn after what was a pretty good match with Mysterio. Of course, this being Royal Rumble time, HHH 'eliminated' both himself and Batista when he came down to make the save. Undertaker showing up and hitting the double chokeslam on Michaels and Mysterio was a good way to cap the show.

One other thing, concerning Bats' attire:
When did he take up golf? ;) :p :D Or did he raid the wardrobe department and find some old Mean St. Posse gear?
