Beyond Batman

The first time I saw BTAS was when I came home from school in 7th grade, somewhere in the middle of the week. At the time, we were living on the Eastcoast. I remember sitting in front of the TV motionless as the TV captured all of my attention. My friend came over in the middle of the show, and we watched it together. After it was over, I said "This is a really cool cartoon." while my friend said, "Why doesn't Batman have a nose???"
Where were you when you saw your first BTAS episode?

First year in grad school.
I'd heard that Warners was launching an animated spinoff, and since I loved the Burton movies and was really impressed with TTA and Tazmania, I was really looking forward to the show.
But I didn't have a TV, and actually missed the first few weeks. But another one of the first year students had one, and when I mentioned how sore i was about missing BTAS, he volunteered that he'd already seen "Two Face" (which he praised as the "best damn Two Face story" he'd ever seen) and invited me over to watch it most every afternoon.
First one I actually caught was "Fear of Victory," and I was instantly hooked.

Well I saw the commerials for the show before it aired, and because I was a big fan of the Bat back then, I thought... "this is cool, I really WANT to see this". But I didn't have Fox back then. :(
But I went on a vacation with my parents and was alone in my hotel room when I caught that first Man-Bat episode right where Bats was breaking into that lab and I was HOOKED man! Of course I had to go with my parents somewhere the next day, and I got upset that I couldn't see more of the show.
But I soon got Fox added to my cable station anyway, so I became a regular viewer of the show. Its cool that I get to see all these episodes again on CN because its like reliving my childhood.

I was a wee girl in elementary school :) I watched "Feat of Clay", was terrified, didn't sleep that night, and watched the next episode spellbound.

I too had caught the promos before the show premiered. I was living on the other side of the country at the time. I seem to remember that it was "On Leather Wings" and sometime in the evening.

I had followed the promos for months and was there for the big sneak preview on Saturday morning. "The Cat and the Claw part 1" was the the first one. I somehow managed to catch every BTAS episode on their first airing. Even caught the original ending to Robin's Reckoning part 2 before they changed the animation for the reruns.

I saw was in sophomore year in high school and was at a friends house and he wanted to watch it. i figured i would give it a shot.
I asked what year the series took place.
my friend told me that the technology was cutting edge, but the style was old-fashioned.
and i was like, "oh, you mean like the Flash." he said, kind of. The first episode i ever saw was "Feet of Clay, Part 2" and it was awesome!!!

After grade school, obviously, as I watched every program on Fox Kids: Animaniacs, Tom & Jerry Kids, Tazmania, Tiny Toons etc. I remember even watching the Penguin at Circuit City when I was away from the house.

Sept '92, I was 15, so I was home.
I think debuted it on a Sat morning w/ an encore presentation Sunday evening. It was "The Cat & The Claw".
Having watched Adam West in my earlier youth AND absolutely loving the two Burton films, I was ready for a daily dose of Batman. And I wasn't disappointed!!!
This series had it all: great animation, great characters, stories, writers, music, and attitude. The first few minutes of Cat & the Claw remain one of my favorites.
After it's debut weekend, it went to it's M-F 5:30 timeslot, starting w/ "On Leather Wings".
When I was lucky, my father would be home from work in time to watch it with me.

Laying on a couch in my living room while my dad fixed the VCR so he could tape it.

I didn't start viewing it religiously when it first premiered, but one day I must've watched some out of curiosity, and I suppose it gradually became one of my favorite shows (I was like 10). My little brother and I still use some of our favorite BTAS quotes in conversation even today.
I have an old tape with a couple episodes and a short behind-the-scenes special featuring some shots of the voice actors at work, which I haven't seen in ages. I had my little brother mail it to me from back home but the tape was too worn for my VCR. I hope to get some DVDs in the future with similar material.

I was only 9 then, and in either 4th or 5th grade. I know it was late afternoon and I had turned on the tv, who knows what channel and I saw the BTAS opening. The opening and the background were so awesome, I was hooked right away on that alone. And then, either curled up on the couch or sitting crosslegged right in front on the tv, I saw Batman and this really really really hot, young partner in, what else, red-green-gold...yay for Robin! What can I saw, I get the hots for animated cuties, have done so since I was little :p . I was so stuck on this guy in this loud costume who was young, cute, smart and very funny. Robin/Dick Grayson was what got me hooked way back when. Though I'm not sure if, without Loren Lester's talent, I would have been captivated so easily.

It was my senior year of high school. Like Maxie, I was also impressed with Taz-Mania and Tiny Toons, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I had never even given Batman a second thought before, I was just in it for the WB pedigree. So I watched the first part of The Cat and The Claw... and was unimpressed. I've never been too fond of that episode, and thought it was only average at the time. But I stuck with it and saw On Leather Wings the next day... and I was immediately struck by the atmosphere. I had no idea they would dare to do something quite as dark as Man-Bat, and I was fascinated. The next one I remember was Heart of Ice... that was the one that hooked me. Mr. Freeze's story was so touching, I remember thinking "wow, I think that villian was pretty lame in the comics... when the heck did he become so impressive?"
And so I've been with it ever since.

I was 5 at the time. I lived in New York City, and didn't go to school yet. I had nothing to do, in my small apartment. I started to bother my mom, so she took me and sat me down in front of the TV. She turned it on to channel 5, and said "this is a good show". When I looked at the TV, it was the opening to BTAS. I saw Batman standing their, with his cape swaying, and a thinder in the background. I got hooked ever since.

The waterbed room, I remember it vividly it was Saturday, and the Cat and the Claw was coming on. I was really excited because I remember telling my aunt, Batman's coming on, Batman's coming on. Then I watched it and have been hooked since. Oh, and what was the original ending to Robin's Reckoning?

Oh, and what was the original ending to Robin's Reckoning?
It's an animation variation. The first time part 2 broadcast, the part where Batman limps up to Robin, he is using a board as a crutch. In the later reruns, the board was gone and the limp was different. The Columbia House version is the original. Not sure what they show on Cartoon Network. I just remember seeing RR2 the 2nd time it aired and noticing that part was different.

i was sitting in front of the TV when i saw my first BTAS episode.
I had watched the recording of Cat and the Claw immediately after coming home from a 15hr shift from work (well almost imediately  ).
When that textless opening began, I was hooked. Here was a little animated peice that told you right away what the character was all about. No text was needed, and that was just the opening. The show was just as good.
What was better though, was showing my parents it when I visted them the next day. I can only imagined that's how I looked when I saw Star Wars for the first time back in '76(?). I think my mom summed it up best with a single word:
"Wow!"

I had a friend over and we had just finished playing video games when I turned off the nintendo and BTAS was on. I asked my friend if he had ever seen it before, and he said "Yeah, it's stupid."
After he left, I kept watching it, and highly disagreed with him. I have been a BTAS fan ever since.
