What does it take to get banned around here? Just so I know what to avoid doing :).

Well, to be banned, do the oposite of what the "rules" say.
Twas Nice Knowing You!

That shouldn't concern you - simply that you should avoid breaking any rules in the first place should be enough.
Read the rules and then just use your common sense. We will let you know privately when you are out of line.
Simply, just be nice to each other, listen to advice if given and have fun. :D
I think that is generally a universal net board motto.

Now why would someone want to know how to get banned? Why in my day people didn't ask how to get banned, they just did immature things till it happened.

Fair enough. It was hard to tell whether the remark was a serious question or just a cheeky nudge upon reading it!
An emoticon would have rounded up the sentence nicely and made it all the less confusing... emoticons can be invaluable when trying to affirm the mood behind a post!
A simple suggestion - in the end there was no harm done! :D

Doing that confuses everyone because they have no idea why that person is banned and then they see them posting and wonder what the heck is going on.

I've been doing it for a few weeks now, and 2 friends asked if I was banned other than that no one cared. It made me laugh when I came up with the concept.

In all honesty, I don't feel bad for people who get banned. It's so simple to follow the rules, most of which are just common sense anyways. Besides - these are great forums. I have no idea why anyone would want to get banned of them.

I dunno, I feel a little pity toward a certain number of banned posters. As my time as a lurker instead of a poster, I got to know a lot of people from their posts alone. The mods have been extremely lenient with everyone, but sometimes even the most respectable of people seem to suddenly change, having a bad week or something. You know there is something wrong when they place themselves in a position to risk getting kicked out of these wonderful forums. I'm speaking of one person in particular, but I'm not certain if I should say the name out of respect.

Unfortunately is consistancy. Everyone has to be treated as equal and I don't think any of the mod/admin ban someone for having a bad week, you can normally tell when someone is going to start causing trouble way before they cross the line and it's all done privately.
Out of all the boards I've been to, I think this is the best moderated. Changes and alterations to posts are done quietly without creating a fuss and any problems are always attempted to be solved (again privately) before the stern hand comes down.
I don't feel bad for those who are banned - it is however a great pity that circumstances sometimes call for such action and that nothing could be resolved to prevent it.
Considering the board has over 2,000 members, I think everyone behaves pretty well!

With the exception of blatantly bad behavior, Toonzone works on "baseball terms"- if you screw up, you still have another chance. You'd have to be naturally rude or deliberately choosing to break the rules to get banned. You'd probably still get another chance if you "had a bad week or something".

True true! But I'm sorry if my post made it sound like an attack at the mods! You guyz are the best, extremely intelligent and always ready with a well thought-out answer to every situation, annoying, disrespectful, or hostile. And that was even without considering how you guys handle things off-board as well.
Okay, blah blah blah, you guyz rock blah blah blah :D
But the thing I was thinking about was that there's few things in life that could cause one to dare do the things that could get one banned. And when it happens to someone you know for the most part and respect, you know there's something really wrong when that person goes off the edge. But, like you guys said, no matter who it is - if they do something wrong over and over again, there should be consequences.

I was planning on doing that for one day on April first until I noticed you were doing it.
I hope I never screw up and get banned. This is probably the best forum I've ever been to.

Well, look at it this way:
If you're worried about getting banned, then you are the sort of person who will almost certainly NOT get banned. So there's no point in worrying about it.
And if you're the sort of person who's likely to get banned, you're not going to care about it. (Everyone who's been kicked out has made a big stink about how they didn't "care" because we were all morons anyway.) So again, there's no point in worrying about it.
Bottom-line, then: You shouldn't worry about it. ;)
And like NF said, people don't get banned for having a "bad week." Only one person has been kicked out for having a "bad" period, and that was more like a bad three months.
If you're worried about getting banned, then you are the sort of person who will almost certainly NOT get banned. So there's no point in worrying about it. I wasn't worried.............. Until now!
