Why did they change Catwoman's look for the series? I think she looked fine the way she was.

Catwoman should have never been a blonde.

The new costume was also an improvement.

They changed it because they changed everyone else. I don't think the old body design was fitting enough for Catwoman.

Hey at least she didn't get a purple costume and have her hair sticking from the back of the mask.

I think it was just easier for the animators.

I actually thought the redesign looked more like Catwoman in Batman Returns than the original design.

Howdy all,

According to Batman: Animated (required reading for any serious BTAS/TNBA fan), Bruce Timm revisited the BTAS designs after STAS started airing to get them more in synch with each other.

The major problem I had Catwoman's redesign was that it turned her into Catgirl. Then again, this was something that hit all the women in TNBA series except for Detective Montoya and Harley Quinn.

Edit in response to TimTwoFace, below:
I should probably clarify by adding that Harley just didn't change much at all from BTAS to TNBA, to my eye. Good catch on Talia, though -- kind of forgot about her.

I disagree - Harley Quinn definately looks more like an impish girl than a woman. Rene Montoya, Talia, and Calendar Girl are the only characters that narrowly dodged Bruce Timm's "tiny frame, big head, big eyes" syndrome.

I liked the Catwoman redesign enough, but the original looked better. My favourite, though, was the redesign they made for the spin-off series that never came to air.

That spinn-off outfit was the absolute best! However, Selina Kyle was BORN TO BE BLONDE!
