HOMECOMING FINALE
As the ECW Homecoming concludes, it will be the biggest Eight-Man Over-the-Top Rope Challenge in ECW history! Who will win the coveted No. 1 contender spot for the ECW Championship at Royal Rumble?

I really prefrer the way TNA does the over the Rope matches. I think that when it comes down to the final two, it should be decided by wrestling and not luck. I think it's way too early for Jackson's stardom here. Lets see, last time he got a push they decided to make him a member of the ruthless roundtable and then have him basically sit on the sidelines. Now they have him as the #1 contender, but they never have finished the feud between him and Kozlov. Sure, he may be a threat to Christian's reign, but how many people really think Jackson would have won if it were a wrestling match between him and Kane?

To those of you who thought CM Punk would win the battle royal, shame on you. Crowburgers should be the special of the day! ;) :p :D I told you 4 weeks ago that this was set up for Ezekiel Jackson to win the battle royal, and that was indeed the case.

What cinched it, actually, was the fact that they tested out E-Jack vs. Christian on the road over the weekend, and must've gotten high enough marks to make it offiicial for the Royal Rumble. Christian's title reign, I think, will end on Jan. 31 after 7 months.

The theme of the night was putting the younger guys over. Ryder-Hurricane was the match of the night, so of course it was the curtain jerker. "Citizen Woo-Woo"? ROTFLMAO!!!! 'Cane reverts to his campy 60's style Hurrispeak, and while it is amusing, it also gets old real fast. With Tommy Dreamer gone, 'Cane settles into Dreamer's JTTS role. Good opener, and Rosa's not that bad, either. ;) :p :D

If I'm Trent Baretta, I'm looking for a new finisher, else I'd keep my eye on the sparrow when the going gets narrow. ;) :p :D See, there's a certain crusty veteran on Raw who uses that high knee to the head as part of his moveset, though not as a finisher (Do I really need to tell you who it is?).

{And if you didn't get the "eye on the sparrow" reference, I'm embarassed for you.}

Zack Ryder won't be able to ride the "I got rid of Tommy Dreamer" train much longer so he'd better find some more success. His win against The Hurricane could put him on that path.

I was a bit disappointed that only Punk and Ezekiel & Regal got promos. It would have been cool to feature a few more of the Homecoming participants, especially those that were "coming home" for it. Add in Kane walking in the back and it was less than half.

Well, Yoshi beat Croft on Superstars (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=262435) and then Barreta beat Goldust on ECW. The tag match becomes to the rubber match. I suspect we'll see you next week for that one.

I don't know about anyone else, but I found Christian surprisingly annoying on commentary this week. Normally I love Christian, but he was just really grating on me here.

While I wanted him to, I don't know that I expected Evan Bourne to win, but I was really disappointed by his quick elimination by Kane. I suppose that's why they call it high risk, but he got no time in there at all. It was a while before the second man was eliminated too.

From that point, I more or less liked how things turned out, especially with Benjamin and Archer eliminating each other to keep that feud going. Ezekiel Jackson getting the win is a natural extension of Regal's feud with Christian, so this works for me. Certainly better than Kane getting the title shot.

The battle royal for the vacant Intercontinental Championship in October 1993 where Razor Ramon and Rick Martel both won and then wrestled the next week I was cool with, but if everyone else goes over the top rope that night, I want the last man to do the same. Better that than a five minute match following a battle royal.

Kane would have not have been able to throw Jackson around like most of his opponents, so it is completely plausible that in a regular match Jackson could have beaten Kane. Zeke capitalized on a Kane mistake to eliminate him. Kane appeared to injure his leg when he missed the closeline, Jackson could have just as easily picked him and thrown the Big Red Monster to the ground, scoring the pin.
