View Full Version : The "This Should Come to Boomerang" Thread
Yep.
Try to be realistic, like for example, Nicktoons won't be coming to Boomerang.
I'd like to see:
-Garfield & Friends: Hey, CN airs Garfield Show, and this was great. They've aired it before as well.
-Megas XLR: Would be a good replacement for TT on there... and it's awesome
-Looney Tunes: Do I really need to explain this one?

It would be great if Turner could acquire the Fox Kids library from Disney, then Boom could show:
Eek! the Cat
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
X-Men
Bobby's World (not a favorite of mine, but nonetheless something Boom could air)
Peter Pan and the Pirates
Space Goofs
Also, some syndicated favorites such as:
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
She-Ra: Princess of Power
G.I. Joe
Transformers
Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers
The Super Mario Brothers Super Show
And of course, Megas XLR could run on Boomeraction. And while we're at it, why not...
The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show
Dungeons & Dragons
Jim Henson's Muppet Babies
Mighty Orbots
Galaxy High School
Saturday Supercade
The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley
The Real Ghostbusters
Captain N: the Game Master

Some ideas I had for Boomerang:
Looney Tunes and MGM shorts return
"Hollywood Goes Animated"-cartoons based on live-action shows, movies and celebrities. Examples:
Fonz and the Happy Days Gang
Laverne & Shirley in the Army
Both Addams Family cartoons
Rick Moranis in Gravedale High
Wishkid starring Macauley Culkin
Prostars
Mr. T
If Turner could acquire the Filmation library:
Fat Albert
The Archies
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
She-Ra, Princess of Power
Blackstar (the cartoon show ;))
Bravestarr
Sabrina and the Groovie Ghoulies
Uncle Croc's Block
The Brady Kids*
The New Adventures of Gilligan*
Mission Magic*
*These shows could also air as part of "Hollywood Goes Animated"
International Acquisitions:
The Raccoons
Dr. Snuggles
Danger Mouse
Count Duckula
Arthur and the Square Knights of the Round Table
Superted
Atomic Betty
"Press Start"-video game cartoons:
Pac-Man
Saturday Supercade
Sonic the Hedgehog/Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
Dragon's Lair
Pole Position
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
Super Mario Bros. 3
Captain N: The Game Master
Classic Action Cartoons:
Transformers G1
G.I. Joe
The Real Ghostbusters
M.A.S.K.
Defenders of the Earth
New Classics:
The Life and Times of Juniper Lee
Megas XLR
Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi
Sheep in the Big City
Time Squad
Celebrating the people who make our favorite cartoons:
Toon Heads
The Tex Avery Show
The Bob Clampett Show
The Chuck Jones Show
Late Night:
O Canada
Sunday Pants
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
Cartoon Planet
Late Night Black & White
Classic animated specials like Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Rose Petal Place, Nelvanamation, etc.
Cartoon Theater
Classic animated movies like Charlotte's Web, The Phantom Tollbooth, Gay Purr-ee, Twice Upon a Time, etc.
And classic commercials throughout the day.

It must be the fact I did not catch all the episodes while it was on, it never stood out to me as a great show. While thinking about it I could say it was ok to me, but really need to watch it again to be sure. I really not sure if its ready to be on boomerang since it not be gone all that long.

Megas XLR's "worthiness" to air on Boomerang is irrelevant, as the shows' quality is subjective. Whether a series is good or bad is strictly a matter of opinion, which varies according to the individual, therefore it would be pointless to debate that. In response to the series' "not being gone all that long", Megas XLR ran from 2004 to 2005. Officially 5 years ago. Boomerang has already aired Justice League (2001-2004), Justice League Unlimited (2004-2006), Duck Dodgers (2003-2005), Gerald McBoing-Boing (2005-2007), and The Batman, which also debuted in 2004, so why not air Megas?
People need to stop saying "So-and-so show is too new to be airing on Boomerang", since Boom stopped being a strictly retro network some time ago. Boom has basically been Cartoon Network's recycle bin for the past 8 years. Boom's schedule has been so repetitive that pretty much anything would be nice change from the monotony. At least Turner still has 1 channel that shows cartoons 24/7. The way I see it, if Turner is so hell bent on turning Cartoon Network into Nickelodeon Too, then Boomerang may as well become Cartoon Network.
It would be good if Boomerang were to suddenly start running Megas XLR. However, I'd settle for a complete series DVD of Megas. The series only ran for 2 seasons. Granted, episodes of Megas are available on iTunes, still, it would be nice to see it on TV again.

Boomerang stopped being a baby boomer's channel the second they started airing JLU and some of the Cartoon-Cartoons. The 90's cartoons are officially 20 years old now, and as was mentioned above, Boom has run shows which debuted later than that, so the "Fill-in-the-blank cartoon is too new to be running on Boomerang" argument no longer holds water.
Boom could easily run Megas or Juniper Lee or Samurai Jack or Time Squad or Sheep in the Big City or My Gym Partner's a Monkey, since they've already ran Pokemon, Duck Dodgers, The Batman, Dexter's Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken, Johnny Bravo, Gerald McBoing-Boing and Krypto the Superdog. For that matter, why can't Boom air Beetlejuice, Ozzy & Drix, Totally Spies!, Atomic Betty, Code Lyoko, Xiaolin Showdown or Freakazoid? All of these shows have been gone from Cartoon Network long enough to wet peoples' appetites for them.
The way I see it, if a show is old enough for someone to remember it nostalgically, it's fit to run on Boomerang.

What I find odd is on Mexican Boomerang (as seen on you-tube) they show Jeannie & The Partridge Family 2200ad.......why do they have the rights to show them & America doesn't?

Well, I'm no expert, and someone more versed in TV knowledge can answer this a lot better than I could, but I think here in the US there may be restrictions placed upon the airings of these shows based on ownership rights. While both shows were indeed Hanna-Barbera, they were also based on existing live-action franchises, so it likely has to do with whoever currently owns the rights to The Partridge Family and I Dream of Jeannie franchises here.
These same shows are able to air outside of the US where there are no such broadcasting restrictions. It could also have to do with both shows being imports outside of the States.

Bobby's World, Mr. Bogus, Looney Tunes and Tiny Toons would all be great selections for Boomarang, it would freshen up the schedule and break up the mundane HB shows that have take up home on the network for such a long time.

They should just pick up the Filmation library from Entertainment Rights (therefore also giving the shows a chance to be rereleased on dvd) and Terrytoons (CBS isnt doing anything with it outside of new adventures of Mighty Mouse), and maybe the King Features library too (popeye, defenders of the earth, beetle bailey, etc). Theyre probably cheap enough to aquire, and would appeal to the baby boomer audience.
EDIT: Doesnt turner also own the final series that Ruby-Spears made (james bond jr, mega man, and skysurfer strikeforce)?
