Surprised one wasn't made yet.

I couldn't help but laugh at Selena Gomez's forced smiles when she was preforming with Justin Bieber.
They looked forced to me, at least..

I only saw a little bit of it as I flipped around checking out the different programs. God bless him, but I think Clark should retire. Ever since his stroke it just hasn't been the same, and he messed up while doing the countdown again this year. It's just hard to watch now. But like I said, I admire his determination and loyalty.

That Justin Bieber kid is too desperate. You should see his interview on Chelsea Lately. He was hitting on Chelsea Handler. Did he really think he was gonna score with a 30+ year old woman? Poor kid. I feel bad for him.

Plus, Ryan Seacreast wasn't the best addition. I'd rather watch Carson Daly on NBC.

I was surprised that he was 15.
Now I'm surprised that he's straight. :p

Dick Clark's voice sounded really off, hope he's alright.

Also... How on earth did Selena Gomez get herself from New York to Las Vegas? Does she have a Transporter from Star Trek? Is she a Organization XIII member? Does she actually have magic powers?

I know, I know, it was probably pre-filmed.

it was probably pre-filmed.

During the after show hosted by Fergie it said "pre-taped" on the bottom of the screen.

He talks the way he does now because he had a stroke. It sucks though. I used to like the way he sounded before then.

Dang. I didn't even think about how she was going to be in New York for the ball-drop, yet she was also on Disney Channel when they were having that New Year's celebration.

Omg. Now that's gonna be a big problem at my school....

I saw Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve last night. Ryan Seacrest, who ironically succeded the legendary Casey Kasem as host of American Top 40 on radio, did a fairly good job helping out Dick Clark on the program. Dick Clark is still suffering from the effects of his stroke, five years earlier(that prompted Regis Philbin to fill in for him in 2004-05). Dick's now 80, but given the effects of his health from that stroke, it's time for him to retire and to name a successor to carry on the program he has hosted on ABC for many years. Ryan Seacrest makes good as a substitute and assistant, but how will he fare as Dick Clark's successor as host of the program? Only time will tell. If Seacrest is named Clark's successor, if he had a co-host for the program, what about Casey Kasem's daughter, Kerri Kasem. Right now, it's a wait and see mode, but clearly, it's time for Dick Clark to retire- he's done it for many, many years and the effects of his stroke have taken a toll on him.

I know what you mean. I was surprised that all she did during his performance was just sing along near the end and sit on a stool. I also didn't expect Justin Bieder to be on there since I didn't think that he was that popular. It probably helps that I didn't even hear about him until he guest stared on True Jackson.

I saw most of this last night and I honestly wasn't that impressed with the performances. Granted, most of the music wasn't my taste or the songs weren't for my age demographic, such as the performances by Selena Gomez and Justin Bider.

As for Dick Clark, I felt bad for him as well since he did sound like he was struggling to talk due to the effects of his stroke. He seems like such a nice guy and it's great that he has such determination to host this countdown, despite his physical complications. I wouldn't be surprised if he does retire and I also think that might be the best choice for him. Of course, it is his decision to make, especially since I don't know who could take his place. Ryan Seacrest does a nice job as a co-host, but I'm not sure if he could be Dick Clark's successor.

I thought Dick Clark did well last night. Yeah, he doesn't sound like he use to but compared to the last two New Years Eves he looked 100% better and his voice is, at least to my ear, getting a bit better. The sad thing is he just isn't going to ever sound like he use to. There's just so much that can be done for someone who gets hit with a stroke like that. That said, at least he can still speak which is something poor Roger Ebert has said he'll never be able to do again :crying:.

As to Dick Clark retiring - I don't know. He seem to enjoy doing the show and it is about the only thing he does these days, from the looks of it. If he's still having fun I say let him do the small, pre taped spots. Because once he's gone I don't know if I'll really be watching the ball drop anymore (might check in for a moment on CNN or something but at this point I don't see any really interesting successors to this New Years Eve show).
