Awwww....no one cares which figure it was I picked up? Surely someone must be curious...
I'll say this - I didn't really think I'd be that pleased with the purchase, but having a new action figure around has put a smile on my face! And this one, despite not really having a "look" I thought I really cared for, has really grown on me!
For me the big YAY is that TRU is carrying JLU again! Alright DB, tells us already!!!!!!!!!

Since my nephew has recently taken an interest in these figures, I've been tracking down figures from near and far, and I must say, this line is kind of growing me, so much so that I've kept some of the duplicate figures for myself, and I'm thinking of possibly expanding my collection. There's a kind of endearing, old-fashioned quality to their simplicity, crappy molds and general lack of detail.
Does anyone know of a site with a definitive check list for the entire line of figures? I'd like to get an idea of the scale of the project, should I decide to pursue it.

Aw yay! People CARED :p:anime: Not enough to make guesses, though....
Well, the description suggests you got just one figure, but I would otherwise have put good money on Batman and Wonder Pig.
Well, I guess that technically counts, though it's really more of a non-guess LOL.
I got..
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
Still waiting for it? Well so is he. And by "it" I mean fame.
I gotsa Green Lantern. In a new costume. Like the kid said! Okay, okay...it's Booster! And I'm really, really liking him. True, his head is too small (I'm sure Volcana looks alien by comparison, one day I hope to add her to my collection and find out for myself), but that gives him a really nice "big hero" proportion to his body. And the blue and yellow looks great! I thought it would be too dull, after the awesome gold and black original, which I totally wanted to get. But these show-accurate colors, PLUS a painted Skeets (why wasn't he painted to begin with Mattel?) made it an easy grab.
I just couldn't bring myself to buy the Wonder Pig Batman. I have such a small disposable income these days, purchasing another Batman I don't like or want wouldn't fly. Plus, her front right hoofie had silver splash all over it, LOL.
Mystery solved. Exciting no?

Looks like the Waller pack is becoming a little easier to find, I saw a few on my journey to the city this weekend... and over on AFI and DC Hall Of Justice they say that the new three packs are popping up on the east coast already: Superman (with heat vision eyes, no less), Silver Banshee, and Metallo, Plastic Man, Cyborg, and Mr. Miracle, and Flash, Captain Cold, and Captain Boomerang...

Yeah, if you didn't pick up the older 6-packs now is the time to get them for a great price. Plus you can help make room for the arrival of the "attach from Thanagar" 6-pack! I really hope these start to show up before 6-packs are completely line. I have never loved and hated a toy line so much in my life!

Thanagar and Eclipso sets are indeed out. They hit Targets a few days before Christmas. The clearance started on the 26th, with prices varying by store. (Most of the previous Hero Villain packs are now $20, but I've seen as low as $5.) A few people have found the Thanagar/Eclipso packs at clearance prices, but most of those sets were bought up at full price in the days just before Christmas. (I found some and paid full price at the time.) Most of us who follow this closely expect the Thanagar/Eclipso sets will vanish as if they never happened, just like the final 6-packs sets of 2008. (Even I didn't see those at retail.)

I didn't know they were clearancing the 6-packs. Drat, I would have bought the old villains 6-pack when I saw it there on Monday. That would have finally helped me make up my mind whether or not to get it. Yesterday all they had was one League United pack, and I've already got that. I did see the Eclipso and Thanagar 6-packs on Monday, but the only Thanagar pack had a bent helmet on one of the Thanagarians because it had been put in the package wrong. Otherwise I would have gotten that.
What's up with Eclipso Hawkgirl's paint job? The colors are annoyingly bold and clashy.

My Target has the old 6 packs on clearance and the new 6 packs for $30. Thing is, aren't they all under the same DCPI, so how only some of them are clearanced is beyond me.

I picked up the "Attack From Thanagar" six pack at Target on clearance for about $15. I would've picked up the other six packs. But I'm not interested in paying like $20 for the other ones when all that I want are the Tala and Supergirl figures.

I got the Attack pack while I was visiting family in Charlotte this past weekend, really like it. The Eclipso pack was okay, but I can't justify buying it for one figure- tho it was nice that they did repaints... maybe they should've done that "cave guy" instead of one of the league members, hahaha... all the packs were marked down to $20, but there was only one each of the new sets...

I saw both six pacts at my local Target, I didn't get either them though. Wasn't interested.
It was so irritating though because while the regular one and three pacts were in the action figure isle, the six pacts were three isle's down in the "under 6" children's isle. It was completely idiotic.

Yey I found the 3-packs! Too bad they were only at one Target O_O. All the other Targets only have JLU on Clearance. I don't think Vegas will be getting the 6-packs -_-, so I'll have to buy the Shayera on ebay.

Saw the Thanagar pack on Ebay and after checking out a video review, I have to say they look pretty darn good and I think I want 'em! Sure, many of the details are just painted on, especially for the ladies, but there were nice touches too (the saddlebags on the girls, the new arms and torsos for the men) PLUS the Shayera head...which I still don't have.
If only Canadians could purchase this stuff on Matty.com my life would be so much easier! Still, kudos to Mattel for actually LISTENING to me on this one (yes, I'm taking credit!) As y'all know, I've been wanting to see these figures made for years. Think they'll ever make a generic Thanagar solider in red? I think folks would be happy to have multiples of those to army build....at least I would.
Did anyone read the Matty Facebook page? In one of the last announcements, Matty said that an Apocalipse pack would be out, with a major character in it that has been on fan lists - Kalibak hopefully? That would be great.
Here's that review I saw of the six pack for those interested: http://tnts.dirtmound.com/article.php?story=20091217105840947
Are there any other online reviews with photos? I'd be interested in seeing a review of the Eclipsed pack as well...

Yeah I'll admit the pack is pretty awesome outside of the Batman and Green Lantern. If I cared about having MOC stuff then I would shell out the $30+ dollars for the entire pack online, but I'd rather just get the Shayera and maybe the Paran Dul. Btw anyone know why these things jumped from $19.99 to $29.99 and then to $34.99? Same with the 3-packs @.O. They used to be $9.99 now they're $15.99! Must be the economy? Inflation?

They used to be $9.99 now they're $15.99! Must be the economy? Inflation?
Well, there are a few different reasons. I believe part of it is the same reason the JLU got a "Fan Collection" tag; they're inflating the price knowing that their audience is mostly hard-cores who will pay it.
Also, it could be due to shifts in the price of oil. After all, plastic is made from oil; so the price of oil going up, causes plastic cost to go up too. This could all still be residual effect from the enormous oil spike last summer.
I had heard the cost of oil is why they stopped making JLU playsets and vehicles; it takes more oil to make those, and passing the cost on to the consumer would mean a playset with too big of a price point. I still wish they would at least go the exclusive route with playsets. Imagine if the San Diego ComicCon exclusive was a Hall of Doom playset; or what about a Brainiac head ship?

My Target, for the time being at least, has nothing JLU-related in stock at all. I checked the entire toy section to see if they moved it somewhere else, but wasn't able to locate anything. KIND OF regretting not buying the Thanagar pack, despite the only one I saw there having a slightly bent figure.
I'm rather confident the packs will show up again eventually. They've disappeared and returned in droves before.

I saw the ones with Tala and Supergirl for 1/2 off at about $15. I didn't want to pay that much for each one when I only wanted one figure out of each six pack. But then I was at Target the other day, and the clearence section had 75% off signs. So I don't know if they had those six packs for 75% off. But if they did, I missed out. Cause I would've paid $7.50 for each one.

The S:TAS styled Aquaman has shown up on Ebay. I have to say, as much as I've been giving up on this line, lately I've really started to come back around. They are making good use of the existing bodies now to give us cool variations (Thanagar Shayera, finally! Now this).

It really has. For me though, the paint application problems, the reuse of stock molds, the bending plastic...and most especially...the LACK OF DISTRIBUTION IN CANADA made me give up on it for a long while.
But I'm coming back around. A bought a Booster Gold two months ago, and recently found a new figure. Guess which one! It's a villain...and a main arc foe for one of the JLUers! Hopefully, I'll be able to find an inexpensive Thanagar pack, as that would really make my month.
As for Weather Wizard and Livewire, again neither are perfect. Livewire doesn't really suit the generic female body, having never worn heels, and Wizard has some weird limbs and a super-hero chest. Not a good pair-up. But at least the heads look nice! According the lists someone found over at actionfigureinsider, here's what we might be able to expect in 2010. Apprarently, the Superman that comes with Starro will be in the BB styled suit. At least that's the rumor. Probably won't look that cool, since the Superman figure is one of the weaker ones in the JLU line and Mattel just seems to repaint all over it without retooling it much.

I don't know why they haven't just repainted a WW mold to make an Aresia already. Sure, some sculpting on WW's body doesn't match up with Aresia, but that hasn't stopped them before. (And I personally would want Aresia to be the same body type as WW, rather than the standard smaller female body mold).
Vandal Savage is another super-easy no-brainer. They'd need a new head, but they could just use the Lex Luthor body. Everytime I look at the Blackhawk set, with the redundant Superman and WW with it, I cringe. It would have made so much sense to put Vandal in that set instead of one of the two heroes.
They can also use the new "suit" mold they're so fond of to give us a "Steve Trevor". Which isn't the TOP of my list of figures I want...but that'd still be pretty cool.

Absolutely. It wouldn't even be hard - just a new head - and I for one would really enjoy it. They could also do a Jason Blood figure this way, and then release him and Etrigan along with some other character in a three-pack (I don't need a Morgan Le Fay, though that would be the obvious choice for fans, and a massive headache for Mattel).
In fact, of all the Wonder Woman characters I'd like to see Mattel make, the only ones that would be tricky would be Medusa and Hippoylta. Everyone else - Steve, Circe, Amazons, King Faraday - can be done using existing parts and new heads. A real shame Mattel isn't looking into this more. But then, they're only now getting around to releasing Flash villains too, so Diana's not the only one who had to wait.

Rejoice - this weekend's Toy Fair has revealed some nice pictures of some cool figures, one of which we've been heard couldn't be made for quite some time:
Despero: http://www.cooltoyreview.com/TF2010/Mattel/image29.asp
Manhunter: http://www.cooltoyreview.com/TF2010/Mattel/image31.asp
Lobo: http://www.cooltoyreview.com/TF2010/Mattel2DCIH/image17.asp
Neat. Although I remember hearing about the Manhunter from years back, as though he was supposed to be released but they held back.
NOTE: Lobo will be a MattyCollector exclusive on a single, oversized card in May or June. After releasing him last year at Comic Con and seeing there was an appetite, they figured the website would be an appropriate venue through which to release him (since he's supposedly too violent for kids to be on regular store shelves).

Very cool Lobo and Manhunter figures. My own recently started collection is coming along quite nicely. I'd been ticking off figures on the DC Hall of Justice chart, when they suddenly decided to update it with the latest figures, and re-arranged them all, so I had to start over. Grrrrr.
I wish the figures in the shops would be available online at MattyCollector. It can be a bit of a pain to hunt down figures, particularly old ones, of course, but I did luck out recently, when a friend of mine phoned me from a comic book shop in Germany of all places, where he had found a bunch of really old figures in a bargain bin, so that saved me a lot of eBay hassle, and plugged a sizable hole in my collection.

An answer from Matty regarding having a new female body for Killer Frost/Livewire/Poison Ivy or whoever else needs a no-high heels base:
Q3. Now that you have confirmed JLU will be ongoing in 2010, any chance you can finally tool up some new non high heeled legs for the female buck body??
They really would help make more yet to be made female figures on model, and would be great to use for re issues on figures that should have had them in the first place!
A3. We are well aware there has been a longtime demand for this. Right now JLU is a very tool sensitive line and most of our tooling is going into heads and capes, which help make figures as unique from each other. A female figure with new legs is just not different enough for kids and moms compared to a character who becomes a whole new figure with a new head. JLU at retail needs to have a strong kid and mom ‘wow’ factor, and while collectors want new legs, this is just not something kids notice.
I think Mattel is forgetting how much Moms love flats...

Sounds like to me that Mattel is only bothering to make figures still because it is cheap to do, and they can have Target charge a premium price for them.

Lobo will be 20 bucks on Mattycollector.com. Anyone else think 15 would have been enough? 20 just feels like Mattel gouging us. Back in the 90s, every toyline had original sculpts for every figure. Now, to get one figure that isn't 85% reused parts, we have to pay 20 bucks, plus shipping?!?
15 would have been reasonable.

Why can't I find Mattel DCUC and JLU in retails. If I do why does it have cost so much, Most of us work so hard to save ur money just get their stuff, When we do go to the retails stores to get them we can't find nothing, When we go on Ebay it cost so damn much, Mattel need to do something about this before the fans pay 30.00 for a action figure in retail I'm not willing to give half pay check for one action figure.

Thankfully, they're not charging 30 a figure, but yes...I feel your pain. Ebay has been my only source for figures for years now. I sometimes come across a figure in a mom-and-pop store, selling for 11 bucks (a single) and pick it up...but yeah. I'm super jealous of the folks who just drive for five minutes to a Target and pick out whatever they want (or just whatever is there), when I have to deal with shipping charges, and being outbid, etc etc.
In the end though, I like the toys I have in the line, and am glad I bought them.

I have news for you D-boy... I live in a land of Targets, and thanks to Mattel's continued ineptitude, I have yet drive five minutes and pick up a figure. It usually involves accumulated trips of hundreds of miles over several weeks and scores of stops. I probably spend far more in gasoline than folks in other countries spend in postage. (Not to mention time.) And there are some figures I've never seen at retail, and I'm more diligent about such things than most. eBay looks better all the time.

I ALSO found new singles at my local Target. Got Deadshot, Black costume-Batman, and white glove GL. They didn't have the Firestorm, sadly. Also, there were no new 3-packs.
My all black Batman had a bad leg joint when I opened him. It's not broken, it's one of those things where the joint is in too tight or glued in, so every time you move it, what you're actually doing is twisting the plastic peg. That's really upsetting, because now i'm worried about breaking him.
I like that they're releasing different costume repaints of old characters, thats a good idea. If they MUST Re-release characters they know that sell; give them new costumes for collectors benefit. I don't know why they don't do that more often. Instead of just giving us the same Batman and Superman over and over again, especially in the 3-packs and 6-packs, they should release different costume versions.
Like:
-90's costume Kyle Rayner.
-Kingdom Come Superman
-Black Flash
-Walter West Flash
-"Wraith" version of Batman
-New Earth version of Martian Manhunter (the one in Co2E)
-Sinestro Corps versions of various characters
-Wonder Woman's black leather "biker" costume.
And so on, and so on. Really, there's no excuse at this point for them to still be putting old versions of the characters in their multi-packs. The worst offender was the "Eclipso" pack from a while ago. "Purple shards" doesn't cut it as a repaint.
---
DisneyBoy

I would really enjoy seeing a 90s costume Kyle, but I think it would require a different head sculpt, given how unusual Kyle's mask was then.
I agree that "purple" shards doesn't qualify as much of a repaint, but you have to remember that this line survives in part due to the recognizability of the figures in the packs. The Moms who shop at Target for their son's friend's birthday party aren't going to pick up the wacky-alternate-costumed Wonder Woman pack if there's a normal-looking Diana nearby. GL Corps costumes are okay, but in the few stores around here that had JLU product, I saw a lot of Superwoman figures. No one knows who the heck she is, I'll bet. I don't either.

I think those non-JLU figures cheapen the whole line, and nothing like that should ever have been included until every single character who appeared on-screen in the actual JLU show had a figure. Leave those other ones to the main DC Universe line, I say.

How does that cheapen the line? When they're releasing Batman after Batman after Batman ALREADY, half the time ALONGSIDE each other (this recent line had normal Batman AND Black-suit Batman both in single packs).
When they're ALREADY over saturating the line with regular characters, i'd prefer it be re-paints, rather than the same figures again and again. It has no bearing on other characters releases, just the ones they're re-releasing ANYWAY.
The LEAST they could do it start doing "battle damaged" repaints. One of my favorite customs i've ever seen was a Superman repainted to look like he did at the end of "Legacy".

They're the same characters, just different costumes. And the packaging would just say "Superman" or "Flash" anyway. I don't see how that's any less preferable to just ANOTHER standard Flash toy, or a Superman with a "Bottled City of Kandor" accessory, that they'd be releasing ANYWAY.

So? They're still just repaints of the classic characters, that would be marketed under the name of the classic character. I don't see how that's any different from "Karate Chop Batman".
Ultraman was a repaint of Bizarro with a Superman head, and Superwoman had a custom head. Those are more in line with new characters than what I'm suggesting, which is just superficial repaints.
Who said that? You said that. I'm suggesting instead of getting re-releases of the same old characters, we get re-painted costume variations of those characters. I'm not saying anything about the ratio of new characters. Yet you're saying those re-paints would be bad, only because those costumes didn't appear in the cartoon. Thus saying that you'd prefer the continuation of the redundant re-releases. Or am I misunderstanding you?
In fact here, let me paint a picture for you: You know how recently there was a 3-pack of Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, and Flash?
What i'm suggesting here is instead of that, they had done a 3-pack of Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, and that same Flash figure, but repainted in "Walter West"s costume but still labeled Flash.

Mr. Happy, who cares!! They are going to pack in a Superman, Batman, Flash, or Green Lantern anway, so they might as well do something costume wise so that you don't get another of them. Before I stopped collecting the JLU line, I had 9 Batmans. NINE FREAKING BATMANS!! That was uncalled for, because we do not need that many Batmans in the same costume.

I think one of the problems with doing a Clayface-stained Batman or some other variant that might make sense to us is that he'd have to be in some sort of context. There's no Clayface in this line, so you can't do that one. Of the villains we already have, how many Batman variants can be created?
I can only think of a scratched-up Batman, and the repaints they've already done.

Well both Superman and Flash have had some pretty intense "Battle Damaged" moments in JLU.
They could repaint Martian Manhunter's "alien" body as a white Martian. Even though the Martians in the cartoon didn't look like that, it'd still be pretty cool.
Green Lantern had that trench-coat at the Superman funeral, and they could just slap on the 'Question's" coat. Though, I guess that's not really JUST a repaint anymore at that point.
They could do a Superman funeral version of Wonder Woman (and frankly I wish they would), but that would actually need new tooling, and wouldn't be just a repaint at all...
But yeah, there's not too many repaints they could do, while staying strictly within "JLU appearances".

Since we're not limiting ourselves to the brand the line is based on, let's go even further than DCU. Let's dress them up as Simpsons characters, or Smallville characters, or the members of whichever boyband happens to be hot. Who wouldn't want a Christine Aguilera styled Supergirl? Not beside them.
If something such as "Wraith Batman" or my other "White Martian" idea fall too far and are considered "new characters" then fine, but then that's a whole different subject than what we're arguing about.
I totally GET that you would prefer characters that did appear in the show rather than characters who didn't. A Vandal Savage instead of a Dr. Sivanna. And I totally agree with you. But what we're talking about is simple costume repaints that would go on those necessary re-releases, in place of just standard versions. But they would still be marketed as their normal character names, and would just take their place, ideally. We're not suggesting them effecting the ratio of new characters.
And if you're saying such a thing "wouldn't happen" well that a different argument than "shouldn't happen".

And you're assuming there's any kind of "reason", as apposed to happenstance. It shouldn't come to a surprise to anyone that they have mostly JLU figures in a JLU line. (Though, in that very article he mentions Nightwing and Batgirl....two non-JLU characters)
And yeah, what's up with that comic decoed Brainiac? I'm still confused about that.

And you're assuming there's any kind of "reason", as apposed to happenstance.I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt by suggesting they've learned from past mistakes, but it's Mattel, so I'm sure they'll make all kinds of new mistakes at some point. For now, let's just enjoy the fact that they seem to be back on track.

Really?
Edit:
Anyway, yeah, i'm about 99% sure he just meant a random "Green Batman" and not actual comic themed costumes. Because already in the pipeline for this year we have Batgirl, Nightwing, that comic painted Brainiac (Which is ironically green), and the Ryan Choi Atom. And that's not including the comic repaints that have already been released this year with the classic Aquaman and all black Batman.
And in the blog post directly beneath the one you mentioned he blatantly said they were still doing comic themed repaints.

Anyone collecting the Batman: Brave and the Bold branded figures? I've seen a lot of them around, but mostly they're these really short Action League Mini Figure packs or Batman with weird armor and various vehicles. I was checking out some of the stuff featured at New York Toy Fair Mattel that looks interesting. Not sure what's in stores yet though.

Thanks! I was fortunate enough to purchase Clayface from Casimir several years ago. Its beautifully scuplted and heavy! Its one of my favorite pieces. The Batgirl and Robin in the balcony are from a fast food chain called Jack in the Box from out west. I think they work nicely with the pose that Nightwing is in. I repainted the Batgirl from the Animated Series that is to the left of Wayne Manor. Everything else is either Matty or retail.

DB, clearly you haven't followed in nightmarish detail the incredible idiocy that is the Matty website. If there's a wrong, bad, or stupid way to do things, they'll do it. Logic and the potential for greater profits or stronger public relations never factor into their decision making. The blame is equally shared by Mattel and their chosen e-commerce partner Digital River. (I'm sure DR was the lowest bidder for the job.)

Mattel, why can't you throw a Starro in for free with the 20 bucks you're charging for Lobo?? Why can't there be a points system where collectors can eventually earn points for a freebee Starro two-pack after they buy thirty figures? We'd settle even for that!

I ended up passing on the Penguin pack, since I already have all those figures from earlier releases, but I definitely snatched up the other 3. All those figures were nearly the last of my personal "Must haves" for the series. Now I just need that classic Aquaman, and I'll feel personally satisfied with the JLU line. (until something else awesome comes out)

...so, basically...I'll never feel done with it :p They could make a Circe, Maxie Zeus, Medusa, Hippolyta, Amazons, Felix Faust...but will they? *sigh*
If you've already got a Mattel Batgirl, could you do me a favor a post a pic or two of Livewire next to her? I'm thinking Wire would look better on the lithe Batgirl body...would like to see if her head is too big for it, though.
So does this mean you won't be picking up Lobo, then?
theRedDeath
05-18-2010, 07:32 PM
Eh, I should have said I already have those "characters" from earlier releases. I DO have those molds of Penguin and Nightwing, but I don't have THAT particular mold of Batgirl. I was never much interested in that mold, since even though it's a more accurate paint job, I HATE the articulation in the legs. So i'm afraid you're on your own with your head-switching aspirations.
I've never bought anything from Matty Collector, and even though Lobo looks super-cool, I don't think I'm gonna start now.
My logic in buying figures, is that I only want figures of either:
A) Heroes I would actually care about/Play with. So my collection is missing a LOT of general hero releases. Pretty much sticking with the main JL and associates. I have some heroes that I've been "forced" to buy in 3-packs though.
B) Villains that are capable of villain "Team-ups". At this point all the "Big" villains have already been released. Ambiguous villains like "Eclipso" which was really just a possessed normal guy, or "Despero" who is cool but comes with TWO Green Lantern re-releases, don't really interest me. (I passed on the Matty Collector Gotham-Villain pack because Bane was too small, I already have a Harley, and Clock King didn't interest me. I do wish I had that Scarecrow though)
So a guy like "Lobo" who's a kind of anti-hero/sometimes bad guy doesn't really fit with the direction of my collection.
I'd snatch up a "Vandal Savage" or a "Aresia" in a heartbeat though.

I think its safe to say that both the Aquaman and Firestorm waves are done shipping to stores. The waves were both released roughly at the same time before the Brainiac wave. Both waves are in the old style packaging, the Brainiac wave comes in the newly designed packaging. If you seriously want him I suggest checking ebay now. I was never able to get the Batman Beyond JLU 3 pack in stores.
Ya know, I don't think I ever saw that one in the store either. So a lot of times I have to rely on good ol amazon.com to find the toys that I can't find in the stores:

A little OT, but thought I'd share in case any other stores were doing it... completed my Wave 10 DCUC collection last night from the local Wal Mart, $5 per figure and they had at least four or five per character. I don't know if this is just this store or what, but a 66% markdown is always nice :-)

Dr Destiny and Firefly have popped up on Ebay. Check out Action figure insider's forums for the link. I'm assuming everyone here goes there for updates anyway!
Destiny looks okay. Wish they'd gone with the Martian Manhunter body, as it is taller. The hood is dull - reused from another figure, Hourman maybe? And no 'terror claws' on this guy either. Sigh.
Firefly is...too rough to tell.

I thought Weather Wizard's limbs were an odd choice for a "unique" sculpt. Now with Firefly coming out they make more sense. I think it works and am excited that its coming out. I'll take any Timmverse figures I can get!!!
I wonder what show accurate character they could reuse the Shazam family Wizard mold for??!!!! Seems like such an odd choice for unique characters. Maybe they could do Felix Faust. Especially since their villain choices of late seem to be based on the first two seasons of Justice League.

DB, I'm surprised you had so much trouble. The Matty website was loaded with heavy traffic for about the first hour but after that you should have had no problem ordering a Lobo. He was still available for another 4 hours after the initial first hour of chaos.
For anyone who had to work and had no internet access, i feel bad for you guys. There was really only a 5 hour window to get him and if you did not have a friend order for you, you were screwed.
The good news is that he sold out so fast that we should see more exclusive big figures from Matty and they will prob re-release Lobo with a second shorter run for those who missed him.

I spent thirty to forty minutes at 12 trying to get in, and then checked back multiple times through the afternoon and early evening. No luck.
I wouldn't be surprised if they don't rerelease him. And even if they do, it'll still likely be on a MOTUC sale day. I frankly don't have the time to devote to this monkey dance. Once was enough.

I understand that Matty has there reasons, but selling everything on one day is just stupid, especially since they have a terrible server. They should have MOTU on a day, Ghostbusters and DCUC on antoher, JLU and whatever else on another, just lumping them together causes a lot of problems and anger. Thankfully, my Dad braved the idioctic set up and got it for me... sorry to those of you who missed out, it sucks big time...

Sadly, don't think that's gonna happen man. Why didn't Mattel ever make figures of Toyman or Mxyzptlk? Scale issues because they're so small? Rights issues? They've put out more obscure characters than those two, so I can't help but wonder what kept them from ever getting a release. Mxyzptlk even had an entire episode about him, unlike some of the obscure Justice League members who have had their own figure.
DisneyBoy
07-14-2010, 08:33 PM
It really is all about scale. They reuse bodies to save costs, and entirely newly sculpted figures tend to be saved for special occasions (hence Lobo's recent online sale, and Grundy being an SDCC exclusive, and Grodd and Doomsday coming in the 6 pack).
Hopefully, they'll use the new Lobo-sized packaging to see Toyman and Mxy together in one shot and sell them online....but that would make sense, right? And Mattel tries not to make sense as much as possible.
Plus, they like to save popular characters so that the line doesn't die out. Their logic is that if they don't include minor characters, we'll buy all our must-haves in one year and then the line won't have any attractive new characters in it.

This was a relatively easy 'cut and paste' I did between exam review. To make it I used the 5" scale Jollibee Green Lantern Series One figure (though Series 2 works fine too cuz they have the same legs and torsos).

I have no problem buying that three-pack which includes Booster Gold. Two Boosters on the shelf are better than one. Plus, being a time traveler, Booster can easily be in multiple places at once.
And...Angle Man? Seriously, that's hilarious. I'm getting that three-pack just for Firestorm, but Angle Man will make an awesome addition to my pitifully unpopulated and low-tier villains shelf. Mirror Master, Clock King, and Angle Man...THE TRIAD OF TRIGONOMIC TERROR!

I ship items very quickly and even the day of the end of the listing, for example if these Items are bought and paid for using paypal today before or around 5:45 or 6:45 PM US Pacific time, I will ship them today, using USPS Priority Mail. also the Tsukuri custom includes her removable sword and holster on her back and she can probably be posed or played with carefully but I don't really recommend it.

I remember seeing pictures of it online once, but I can't find any pictures of it online right now and none for sale on E-bay. White Track suit Shayera was a variant suggested by fans, and I'm sure I've seen several customs over the years. But Mattel said they'd never repaint their original "limited edition SDCC exclusive!!!" yellow Shayera....which was really just a three-pack they held over until convention time.
I think at some point they'll go back on that and release a white variant...but I just mostly wish they'd given Shay a new costume all her own instead of the "It's the weekend and I'm jaded so who cares!" track pants. Yikes!

You can stay abreast of most of the JLU/Mattel news over at Action Figure Insider. Here's the quote, from a Mattel Q+A. I asked the question:
Q4. JLU- The bending legs. Oh, Matty! The Bending Legs! They’re awful, and while paint problems have absolutely improved on this line, as has character selection and accessories…the quality of these figures legs is just terrible. They almost ALL bend or get warped. I put some Thanagarians into a drawer with t-shirts and somehow, just because of how they were lying on top of one another (and the considerable heat wave we experienced this year) they came out warped-legged, unable to stand. And I LOVE those figures. Can Matty not use a stronger, thicker kind of plastic on just Legs from now on? Can’t something be done? I’m not saying redo your mold or anything, but just make sure legs are strong enough to support the figures? Is this possible/doable? When you get the pre-production figures back to look at, do you check and see if they can stand? This issue doesn’t seem to exist with other, non-Matty toylines….and it’s been going on for years and years. It hampers the enjoyment of this line seriously for me. I don’t buy stands, I’m not going to use putty or hot-glue to get these toys to stand. I shouldn’t have to…so what has been the reason for this situation not improving, and what needs to happen to fix it? Thanks!
A4. PVC 95 is the ‘hardest’ PVC we can use for JLU figures.

Amazon.com has an image up of the upcoming Batman:TAS style three pack coming out featuring Batman, Joker, and the Gray Ghost. I doubt I'll pick it up, but I might pick up the Darkseid figure based on the final episode of JLU that's supposedly going to be coming out as well.

Does anyone know when that and the Supergirl 3 pack will be out?

They should start hitting within the next few weeks, it mostly depends on how many older JLU 3-packs your Target has on the shelf right now, to get new product they must sell the old for the computer system to call in another order of 3-packs, (but even then more often than not Mattel just sends more of the old product) why you ask? Well my friend, that is because Mattel is a Chump-wad, ;)
(Chump-wad isn't considered a swear word here at TZ is it?)

I believe, based on the figs popping up on Ebay, that these packs are already starting to get out there, so keep your eyes peeled.
That Darkseid figure comes with a Kalibak figure, and will be sold exclusively online at the matty website.

 GRR!! That means if I'm going to get it, I'll have to end up getting it on amazon.com for twice the price of matty's website.

All of these new 3-packs have hit e-tailers. A little pricey but they are out there. I haven't seen one Target report of new 3-pack sightings. It also seems like Matty is shipping 2 or even 3 waves at once. It's gonna be a nightmare finding these all at Target.

I cannot believe these are not showing up at Target yet. Well actually, this is the JLU line so i guess i can but come on?! They E-tailers have them and my Target has zero 3-packs. Something is wrong there. I pulled the trigger too late on ordering all the new stuff from BBTS and now i feel like i'm going to miss out on the Despero 3-pack. There is no way i'm paying over $30 for that one new (undersized) figure.

Which stuff? Just the singles right? There have been rumors that they will get the 3-packs in too but no official reports yet.
