View Full Version : According to a vid game mag BATMAN VENGEANCE will take place after the Joker's death
At a news agent today I read a German video game magazine which featured an article about BATMAN VENGEANCE. According to the magazine the story will take place after the Joker's tragic death, Poison Ivy, HQ and Mr. Freeze will be the main villains in the game.
It would make sense that the story takes place after the night in Arkham because neither Robin nor Nightwing appear in the game, but on the other hand I also saw screenshots of an intact Arkham Asylum as well as pics of the Joker (which is also featured on the official BV website)
I assume the story will be like this:
The Joker will fake his death and try to make the Gotham Knights believe that he disappeared forever, but in the end they will find out that he's still alive and battle him in the very last stage.
BTW don't pay too much attention to articles about Batman in a video game magazine:rolleyes:

That website is wrong, wrong, wrong. I don't know the plotline, but at E3 there were plenty of CGI scenes showing that the Joker is very much alive and hanging around Harley and the Stooge Gang.

So I doubt the plotline will involve his faked death.
And I meant that _magazine_ is wrong, wrong, wrong. The wrongness is spreading, it's a disease! I've been infected! Two plus two is five! The moon is made of gouda! Dubya is a decent president! AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Okay, I'm better now.

At the Ubisoft website the game description says that "after the Joker plummets to his death in an attempt to kill Batman, Gotham's criminals quickly escalate their schemes to gain power."
Wizard says the Joker "has seemingly fallen to his death from atop the Gotham City Bridge...." Obviously his death is faked, as the screenshots, vid clips & Mad Hatter tell ya, there's a lot of Joker & his gang in the game.
As far as timelines, Timm & Dini always rolled their eyes at being slaves to strict continuity. I'm guessing the game just falls within the general world of TNBA- pick a date.

Really? Well, consider me corrected, then. Thanks for the info!

You're welcome! But Mad Hatter, whatever you do, don't start editing yourself- your posts are very entertaining and informative.

Groovy, I've got a fan!
Seriously, thank you for your words of encouragement. I'm always glad to spread whatever useless knowledge I have, though I hope people will point out the (few) times I get something wrong... I hate disinformation of all kinds, even when it comes from me. But don't worry, I plan to keep on trucking.

Anyone else kinda angry about them seemingly giving away the plot of the whole game? I mean yeah, if you think about it - theres no way the Joker could die on the bridge if you stay in the TV show's continuity but other people could believe this. And even for us it would still make the game more interesting.

here's the description of the game, as written in this month's WIZARD:
the joker has seemingly fallen to his death from atop the gotham city bridge and batman is the prime suspect. while batman is on the run from the law, several of gotham's most villainous denizens have taken it upon themselves to fill the clown prince's oversized shoes. but is the joker really dead or is this just another one of his over-the-top schemes?
it also says that you can not only fight as batman, but can drive the batmobile and the batplane... i gotta find the $ for a PS2...

Hey:
I just got a PS2 a couple of weeks ago, and I must say that the system rocks, I got a couple of games as well, "Zone of the Enders", and "Twisted Metal Black" which are really good games and fun to play with a friend. Also in my recent GamePro magazine they had an artical about the game as well as some screenshots, one of Poison Ivy, the Joker, one with Batman gliding across the screen, and one picture of him saving a women.
Here is what they said about the game Batman Vengeance:
"HOLY ARCH-VILLAIN team-up, Batman: The Joker has joined forces with Harly Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze! The Caped Crusader is gearing up for what appears to be a promising console release with Batman: Vengeance. In this one-player 3D outing, you'll guide the Dark Knight through five episodes that run the gamut of several gaming genres, including driving, hand-to-hand combat, and puzzle solving. You'll also don the guise of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne, to collect valuable information that pertains to your quest."
And it also said that the game is coming out in September of this year, so I can't wait for September.
Have a Nice Day!

September?! That soon? Mad Hatter said at E3 it was still very rough.

September? Aw, crap. They really, really needed more time to polish this thing, from what I played. I mean, it's not Superman-level bad, but the gameplay was on the shallow side of mediocre. Dammit, if we're getting another animated Batman game, I want it to be as good as the SNES and Genesis versions were! Hey, game makers! Quit farting out bad games with licensed characters in them just because you know people will buy them!
And I wouldn't get too excited about the batplane yet... the sequence I played was fairly dull. Man. Maybe they'll have been able to polish this game in such a short time--I'm PRAYING they've been able to polish this game in such a short time--but I've got a bad feeling about this.
Yup, Twisted Metal: Black truly rocks the house. It's the first bona-fide A-list title for the PS2, and I've been playing the heck out of it.
I loved the SNES version but I hated the Genesis version because I didn't like the weird bosses, it's no fun when you can't beat the crap out of 'em and overall the Genesis version was very hard and unfair.

I saw a commercial for Twisted Black Metal..but there are 2 reasons I can't play it:
1) Don't own a PS2
2) It's rated M..I'm 14
Then again, I'm not spending a poop load of money on it. I gotta save up for GameCube games (bro's buying the console)....woohoo.. I can't wait for GCN..

(keeping in mind that the Joker "dies" all the time in the comic book only to come back later, not to mention that many websites cited have already blown that plot twist for us)

I'll probably buy this, over 40 minutes of cinematics in 5.1 is pretty sweet, good thing I'll have my reciever a surround system by then!
