It's the STAS episode showing this Saturday night, and I'm not going to be around. Someday, this site will catch up and review the Superman episodes, but probably not by this weekend! :) Is it a keeper?

Personally I think all of the STAS eps are keepers some I'm going to be a little biased. If nothing else it is very important as it gives Luthor his first piece of Kryptonite.

"A Little Piece of Home" is fantastic. It's the first use of kryptonite in the show, the animation is above average (the same guy who did Worlds Finest Part 1, and there's a giant robot dinosaur. Nuff said? Plus, Luthor utters his best line of the series.

Superman: "You will NEVER control me, Luthor."
Luthor: (nonchalantly) "Then I guess I'll have to kill you."

It was a great episode with probably the best version of Luthor. I'm surprised that Kid's WB let him kill so many people on that show!

I really recommend this episode. Believe it or not, this episode was written by the usually sub-par Hilary J. Bader who pulls in a really good script in this episode. The animation, buy TMS (who did all of World's Finest) does some spectcular animation. And the dinosaur fight is just so very cool...

I think it was a great episode. Very entertaining. Then again, I haven't seen it in a long time...

I'm really confused...TMS did the animation in World's Finest (which I didn't enjoy animation-wise)??? I thought TMS did the animation in that Batman Sega-CD thread Tim has going... Please straighten me out someone...

TMS can animate more than one thing, ya know. TMS did animate sequence sin the game. And TMS did animated the beautifully done three part BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD'S FINEST episodes. They also animated episodes like OVER THE EDGE, DEMON WITHIN, HEART OF ICE, and ON LEATHER WINGS to name a few. They also did BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER.

Strange...I found that the styles all looked drastically different from episode to episode...comparing On Leather Wings to World's Finest, I prefer the first B:TAS episode, and Over The Edge really looks different from both of them...

Not really. TMS had a distinct style, as did Dong Yang and Koko and (ugh) AKOM. I find it very easy to tell which episode shave been animated by TMS, and which by the other respective companies. Watch CRITTERS and OVER THE EDGE back to back, and you will be able to see the difference in style off the bat. TMS had major anime influnce (see the finale of DEMON WITHIN) in their work. Here's examples of the other animation studios, usuing Batman episodes:

TMS - OVER THE EDGE
Dong Yang - MAD LOVE
Koko - CRITTERS
AKOM - CAT SCRATCH FEVER
SUNBROW* - I AM THE KNIGHT

*is that the correct name? I know it's "Sun" - something

The reason why it looks different from WORLDS FINEST to ON LEATHER WINGS is because of different production values and animation styles mostly. FOX had a bigger budget than WB, so TMS could do much more in their episodes.

You didn't enjoy 'World's Finest' animation-wise?? It was fluid, had some very impressive shots, smooth batwing sequences, and great character animation (especially Batman in the first part, and the Joker in the last two parts): what's not to like??

To my mind this episode and 'Over the Edge' probably had the best art of the whole TNBSA run.

It was a great episode...the fight scene with the Dinosaur was ausome...another well animated episode was "Ghost In The Machine." The scene where Brainiac shoves Superman into a...well...I can't remember what it was...but it fell over and almost smashed Luthor...he had to move out of the way quickly. If you have it on tape, rewind it and watch that scene again...it looks so real...in a cartoonish way...but it still looks real.

Overall, it's a great episode. The introduction of kryptonite to the series couldn't have been better. The climax has to be the battle against the robot dinosaur. There are some good lines of dialogue involving Supes and Lex. The animation and score was also quite good. :) :) :) :)1/2 / 5 :)

It established Luthor as a really great thinking man's villan in that he'll stop at nothing to rid himself of his enemy while going through the proper steps so that can be done without getting his hands dirty in the process.

tms rocks. but as far as worlds finest is concerened, the quality AND designs were extremely different. part 1 was probably the best animated episode of all tnb/sa (maybe tied w/ over the edge), but parts 2 &3 looked really different. the quality wasnt as good and batman's and jokers design looked very different. plus, just look at the scene where luthor grabs jokers jacket and is screaming at him after mercy shoots up his hide out. um, that was very dissapointing.

but as far as "alittle piece of home" is concerned, great animation, great story, great dialogue, and luthor exterminated alot of people in this ep. a perfect 10 if you ask me. STAS doesnt get any better than this. peace.
