(Zap2it.com) - Concerned about losing track of your "Friends" once the popular NBC sitcom goes off the air at the end of next season? Rumor has it that secret plans are already underway to create a new spinoff show based on one of the characters once NBC's premiere program goes dark after nine successful seasons.
A story in the British tabloid The Mirror, later reported in the tabloid-esque New York Post, says that Matt LeBlanc's character Joey Tribbiani is being considered for a show of his own, much like Kelsey Grammer's character of Dr. Frasier Crane was spun off from "Cheers" to create the show "Frasier."
Apparently, the idea being discussed would be to pack Joey off to L.A. after he lands the part of a rich playboy on a "Dynasty"-like show. However, once that show gets cancelled after only one episode, Joey ends up stranded in California. Reportedly, Joey's character in this new show would see him as "less dumb" than he currently appears on "Friends."
"Friends," which ends it nine-season run in May 2003, is one of the most successful sitcoms in television history. When the show goes off the air, NBC will be losing its top-rated program and will surely be looking for ways to fill the gap.

If only they could wrangle Chandler out of that unfunny marraige to Monica and put him with Joey it would be perfect!
Either way it would work. Matt LeBlanc is tremendously talented.

Hmm........ a Friends spinoff could be good, if handled right. After all, Matt LeBlanc is a great actor and he deserves his own show, but to make Joey less dumb? Now that would be a mistake. After all, his dumbness is what makes the character! Well, it should be good anyways, I just hope it gets made!
See ya!

*ALERT! ALERT! BAD IDEA! ALERT! ALERT!*
Aren't we beating a dead horse here? I think Friends stopped being funny about three of four years ago. Of course, ask me sister and this show is her Bible. Go figure...

I doubt this'll happen, although it could be possible. Frasier, a spin off of Cheers, was ultra successful and it's possble this could follow suit.

However, once that show gets cancelled after only one episode, Joey ends up stranded in California. That exact thing happened when Joey went to film a movie in Vegas and the production ran out of money before shooting could begin. He stuck around in Vegas for a bit, but eventually returned home after his friends came to visit. Think about it, a premise as contrived as that would never be enough to pull Joey apart from his life in New York and 5 best friends.
I love Friends, even after all these years. But I don't think this would work. If it even is true.

I see it having potential. I think Joey, Rachel and Ross ae three remaining funny ones - Ross and Joey especially have grown into very strong characters. If handleded well, I reckon it could work and a new format for the character could be perfect.
Worth a try - can't be worse than Chandlers current script..

I think Friends stopped being funny during the first half of season 6 but then took a great leap and became once again an amazingly hilarious show during season 7. Except for the awkward Joey/Rachel thing, season 8 has also had a great deal of funny scenes sofar.
I don't think ppl should heed what British tabloids have to say about Friends. They're renowned for their lack of accuracy.

I must be in the minority, but Joey is my least favorite 'Friend'. As for a spin-off, don't care, won't watch.

Not a Phoebe fan I'm afraid. Occasionally amusing, often pretentious, she makes good side comments but I find rarely holds an episode based around herself.
Ross is embarassing - but well played. Is beginning to remind me too much of myself!!

I heard that they were making a spin-off called a "Ross and Joey Show" or something like that a while back... Oh, well! :p If they do make this spin-off with Joey in it, I'd definitely watch it! :D He's just a really cool character. :)

I think if handled correctly it could actually work very well- Joey has had some of the funniest lines in the series, and Matt Le Blanc is tremendously talented. Man, it won't be the same of Thurdsays, once Friends is gone...
By the way, Ross is easily the worst friend... Although he's arguably the main character.

Joey in L.A? haha...I can just see the hallarious hijinks he'd get into, now! Then again....eh.
Friends kinda sucks now that Joey & Chandler aren't roomates anymore. There just isn't that..'feel' anymore. They made a great Duo...then...it was all ruined. Geeze...did Monica & Chandler have to get married?
