Veteran television publicity executive James Anderson will join Cartoon Network as vice president of public relations, it was announced today by Shirley Powell, senior vice president of corporate communications for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
In his new role, Anderson will oversee external and internal communications supporting the domestic Cartoon Network brand, including the flagship television network and its sister services, Adult Swim and Boomerang, as well as Cartoonnetwork.com. Anderson will be based in Atlanta and will report to Powell, while working closely with Jim Samples, executive vice president and general manager of Cartoon Network.
Anderson was previously senior vice president of publicity and public relations at Carsey-Werner in Los Angeles, where he created a comprehensive in-house communications department servicing the company's corporate, production, syndication, and film divisions.
Anderson earned a bachelor of arts degree at Denison University. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, currently serving on the Membership, TV Cares, and Governors Ball committees and as editorial advisor for Emmy magazine. He is also a member of both the Television Publicity Executive Committee (TPEC) and the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society (EPPS) and was a board member of the Los Angeles Chapter of Sickle Cell Anemia.
