An article in The New York Times notes that Disney's Chicken Little has the potential for a major breakthrough in 3-D movies (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/26/business/media/26digital.html) and has already spurred several theatres to upgrade to digital projection systems (registration required). The article notes that the new 3-D process will be more advanced than even recent movies like Spy Kids 3-D and that the Imax 3-D Polar Express made 10 times more than the 2-D version.
