Update: Both TV Shows on DVD and The World's Finest have confirmed that Season 2 of Justice League and Justice League Unlimited will be released in Widescreen.

When Justice League was renewed for a second season, it made the switch from full frame animation to anamorphic widescreen. With the second season of Justice League starting DVD production soon, show creator / producer Bruce Timm let fans know about a possibility that may occur in the next release.

"We’ll be starting the special features stuff in the next few weeks, which means a decision on fullscreen or widescreen will need to be made very soon," Timm said. "I’ve been doing my best to persuade the WHV folks to release the season two set (and all subsequent JLU sets) in widescreen, but it’s an uphill battle (fullscreen format is the standard default mode for “family entertainment” DVDs). A deluge of polite, but emphatic, letters expressing fan support for widescreen DVD sets just might tip the scales."

Both Toon Zone hosted websites The World's Finest and The Watchtower have put up their own pages concerning this upcoming release. Both pages urge fans to write letters to Warner Home Video (an address is provided in the links above) to let them know that they want the proper anamorphic widescreen release for Justice League, as well as the future releases for Justice League Unlimited.
