I have been reading both here and in the comics on the list of suspects that could pull this off and while everyone could possibly create this situation in one way or another, either the motive or brains/finesse don't fit into thier usual M.O.'s.

One name that constantly get left off the list is Talia (Ra's Al Ghul daughter). She also knows Bruce's Secret, She is incredibly skilled intellegent enough to pull off this stunt. Finally the only hint that we have been given by the folks at DC fits. "Something that was started several months back before Fugitive" Well The Tower of Babel would fit into that time frame also.

She has already broken into both the watchtower and the cave. She was able to access the computers. There is no telling what she found when she was there and the simple most purest motive is Jelousy; Either over Vespa or The body Guard or Both.

While she usually only acts on her father's behalf, I would make her my first suspect given the information availible.

Hmmm. I don't know. I mean, Talia has always known that Bruce is Batman. And this week's Birds of Prey implied that someone just found out his identity and wanted to make it public, and used Vesper to do it. So why would Talia all of a sudden want to have Bruce secret revealed to the world?

I just read that issue 20 mins ago and I am not sure I got that, they "just" figured out Bruce's secret, but that Someone definately knows Bruce's Secret and is tring to make it public, with the frame up.

As for why's...

Jelousy would be top on my list. Talia suddenly had access to the both the watchtower and the Cave's info on her "Beloved" and His innermost thoughts. His love interests with Vespa, and or possible interests in the bodyguard could have angered her. There could have even been a Talia/Ra's file in there.

I also noticed at the end of the Birds of Prey book, there is a "Bruce Wayne" file similar to the files he created about the JLA . At least this gives a hint as to why he is distancing himself from the rest of the Bat-Group. (eliminate what he may perceive as his biggest weakness.)

It ain't Talia. Ra's Al Ghul, I could understand that to a certain extent (while I still think the Ra's theory would never work), but Talia LOVES Bruce. Now that she's free of her father's control, she wouldn't do anything to hurt Bruce, much less land him in jail.

Yo, just reading back up on Batman 600, and Oracle said, "We've already cleared Bane and Ra's al Ghul". I think we should be able to take that, along with Scarecrow and Mad Hatter shown incarcerated in the 10c adventure, as "proof" that these villains shouldn't be suspected here. Oracle is usually pretty durn thorough, and wouldn't 'clear' anyone without due reason.

Well, I didn't read all the parts to Murderer, so did they show how these people were 'cleared'?

They didn't clear a thing. They mentioned that Ra's was thought to be in some desert, and Bane was supposed to be somewhere. That's it.

That would be pretty far out of character for Talia. She loves Bruce, as kid_flash said. Jealousy isn't really part of her character - she's too confident in herself for that. And even if she did get jealous, she'd not take it out on Bruce by landing him in jail or by exposing his identity. She'd just go an eliminate the "competition". So while its possible that Talia would kill Vesper (a slim chance in my opinion), she wouldn't set up Bruce that way.
