View Full Version : Brave and Bold I: The REAL problem with the truck chase scene (Spoilers)

The truck chase scene should never have happened.

Consider this: Grodd “needs the isotopes to power his devices,” but the isotopes were stolen from the research facility that was also Grodd’s base of operations, and where his devices were. Considering Grodd’s use of subterfuge at the facility, wouldn’t it have been easier (and faster and quieter) for Grodd to mentally command Chin and Stevens to wheel the canisters down the hall to where his devices were rather than have them be loaded on a truck, be driven madly across Central City, attract the Flash’s attention, almost become lost underwater and be detained in a police impound?

And it’s safe to assume that Grodd had control of the facility staff (with the exception of Dr. Corwin, of course), so what was the point of reporting the items stolen -- besides making Green Lantern aware of his schemes?

Don't get me wrong -- I loved this episode, despite the big plot hole. I welcome anyone's suggestions to fill it.

that's stretching everything a bit thin I think...The Truck Chase was the BEST part of that episode. Plus, he's a "big, fat stupid gorilla".. :p

seriously though, that's the same type of things I like to stay away from, because the same things could be said about any of the episodes if you look at them long enough...and I like to enjoy them as much as possible...

Howdy,

Did they say Grodd needed the isotopes? If so, then yeah, that's a big fat hole, all right.

If not, then I'd say the reason for the theft was pretty simple: to get the two doctors out of the way so Grodd and his little lady love (eeeewwww) could continue their business uninterrupted (that bit about taking over the world, not the bit where, um...EEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!).

That's also why they had the Flash steal something. Where'd that isotope go? It really doesn't matter much -- they just wanted to get him arrested for something.

How about this: Whent the police show Flash the security footage you can't see a thing because, duh, he's so fast. So what made them slow down the tape in the first place? Was someone just bored and decided to watch the darn thing frame by frame?

And then how did they catch him???

they did say grodd needed the isotopes-- and he got them when flash stole them for him

as for the truck, one can only assume the isotopes were NOT in the animal lab and were instead somewhere across town

Good point. But the Police Chief happens to be a conspiracy theorist.... ;)

Making the rounds, the guards noticed that the isotopes were missing (or some were). They then checked the tapes (at normal speed), and saw only that the canisters suddenly vanished. So they slowed the tape down to see how something could just disappear into thin air, and saw Flash in one of the frames.

I think Green Hornet has the best answer for the truck chase. The cops said the isotopes were stolen from the lab, but that could simply mean from the Institute (the corporate body) and not the physical building. We don't know where the truck originated from or what it's destination was -- the only thing we can conclude from their behavior was the isotopes were in one place, and where Grodd needed them was in another.

Easy solution: They wanted to get his attention. That way, they know where Flash was and could set him up (after all, Grodd was in the cage while Flash was looking around.
