With all the time compressed WB shorts on Cartoon Network, what would you call last night's airing of "Scrap Happy Daffy"? Time decompressed? Many other WBs on public domain tapes are aired the same way.
Interesting in that they put the WB shield zoom open and Porky drum close in the correct speed and with good print quality, but "SHD" itself was not nearly as good quality. Perhaps they should've borrowed Goopy Geer's copy. ;)

Goopy's copy may look good on RealVideo, but probably not on full NTSC resolution.
It's a shame though...WB should have a VERY good print in their library since they had it computer colorized in 1995.
I'm not sure, but the print looks like it might by a SUNSET print...which probably was a nitrate to safety print coversion. (on 16mm, too.)

You know, if you adjust the vertical hold on your TV, you can see the subtitle that was cut off (NON-ARYAN DUCK).
The scene needs to be windowboxed. You experienced "TV cutoff," as well as a print that looked a little overscanned (or whatever that is called).

They also need to windowbox that opening scene which shows all the banners, because it's very hard to see them, and I think there was supposed to be some sort of joke in that scene, but picture restoration ruined it. I had a hard time watching that cartoon because of the bad print. I had to turn down the tinting of my TV in one part just to see what was written on the sign that Daffy put outside the hole. I'm sure it's a great cartoon, but they need a better print.
There isn't any unseeable joke at the end of the sign showing, it just says "get the (or was it "that"?) lead out" because that was a popular expression that just happened to serve a dual meaning in the cartoon.

They *do* have a very good print in their library. "We're in to Win" in B&W was used in the TV special Bugs Vs. Daffy: Battle of the Music Video Stars and that looked and sounded fantastic.

I've yet to see that special, Jon. Did they cut out the part where Daffy makes an impression of the three dictators (or as I call them: the DICK-tators)?

Nope, they left it in.

Sorry, Jason, but I was referring to "Bugs and Daffy: Battle of the Music Stars", not last night's special. Seeing that it was made in the late 80's, it's most likely gone. Also, was Bugs' blackface left in "Music Stars" from "Any Bonds Today"? I do remember watching as a toddler, "Seein' Red, White, and Blue", but the ending was cut out. I guess Japanese spys dressed as orphans and Popeye beating the crap out of Hirohito and Hitler was a little to PIC for the 1990's. :p

No, it cut to Daffy commenting on Bugs' network. However, you could still hear Bugs singing. When it cut back to the cartoon, Elmer and Porky were on-stage and Bugs was finishing his make-up removal.

Jon Cooke emailed me about it. It's on the list on the Colorized Toon WS.
