An Investigator comes to determine if Yuske really even deserves to get his body back. She starts by observing that he has a girlfriend (which he denies) and wonders how any girl could even like him. After a while, they observe the girl (Keiko?... can't remember) when a handsome man asks her out. She refuses, saying she already has someone, much to the Investigator's surprise. She goes to Yuske's home, which is an absolute mess due to his mother's carelessness. Here, we see a tender moment that proves the girl really does care about him, even to the point of nearly kissing his unconscious body.

The girl leaves, but shortly afterward a mysterious person creeps up to the house... and throws a flaming can inside. The house catches fire, and if Yuske's body is destroyed he won't be able to come back! Botan goes to get the rival's attention (red-haired boy) while Yuske tries frantically to figure out what to do. The girl happens to see smoke on the horizon and hears that it's on Yuske's street. She rushes back to the home, and runs inside, despite neighbors trying to hold her back. She finds Yuske's body, but she's trapped by the flames.

Then, the Investigator proposes a solution: if Yuske hurls his spirit-egg into the fire, it will magically calm the flames long enough for the girl to get out. But, the egg will be destroyed and Yuske will never be able to regain his life. He thinks for a few moments, and then does it. The egg shatters and the flames part. The red-headed boy arrives and helps the girl drag the body out (though he freaks when he finds out what it is!). She explains the situation, and everyone is relieved that they'll be reunited with Yuske.

Except Yuske knows he can't come back now, and can't tell them that. He finally accepts his fate, and is ready to go on to the afterlife when Koenma (the kid in charge of the afterworld) shows up. He says that it's a good thing Yuske destroyed the egg, because the way he was acting it would've been a monster. But, his selfless act impressed the young lord, and he's decided to give Yuske a second chance!

For the next ep, Yusuke's ready to come back to the living world, only problem is someone he knows must kiss his corpse. O_O
