Given the insightful comment on Spiderman vs Batman (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22449) over on the Batman board, I thought I'd start a new round of discussion, as the BM vs SM debate is winding down...
So, I thought a good match up would be the battle of the people in high tech battle armor...
Rules are the same as these (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?postid=186984#post186984) with more room to allow for the fact that both these guys fly.
Keep it clean, no "I like Iron Man, Steel sucks, so Iron Man wins" or vice versa "Steel Wins cause marvel & Iron Man Suck"
also, try to limit the 3rd person interaction...A beats B beats C arguments tent to not hold up...

with the Aegis-- Steel
without?
Iron man would mop up on steel
he has superior technology, has been in that suit since Korea, and honestly just seems more powerful

Agreed. With Aegis, Steel is at least Thor calibre.
Without it, though, Iron Man has superior versatility and firepower.

Also, the thing most people don't realize about Steel is that he's really just a mechanic, not a super genius like Stark. Steel's original suit merely had super strength, flight, and a piston gun. Then, when Steel joined the JLA, John Henry all of a sudden became this advanced technology and electronics expert. Stark probably has equipment in his least powerful Iron Man suit that could disable Steel's armor before a punch is thrown.
Of course, Stark would probably show up to the fight piss-drunk, so that might make things a bit more even. :D

Also, Tony's a millionaire and owns a company. He can go in and make a new armor A.S.A.P. Although, I think about three of Tony's armors could stand up to the Aeris Armor: The original War Machine Armor (Tony made one which he wore before Jim Rhodes wore his War Machine Armor), The Modular Armor (With Support of the Hulkbuster Exo-Armor), and the S.K.I.N. Armor.

I'm not so sure. From what I've heard, the Aegis Armor is basically up there at Plot-Device power-level, with total control over space/time/energy/whatever. After all, it used to be Imperiex, and has a Mother Box, to boot.

The one thing about Iron Man's armor that has never really been tapped to its fullest is its energy-siphoning capabilities. Quite a few armors ago, Iron Man took on the Silver Surfer almost to a stalemate using it. I agree about the experience factor mentioned earlier and that Tony is just such a genius about creating armor to counter (nearly) anything else. Plus, Tony has that cool Brak's dad moustache. That alone spells victory!

To be fair, Silver Surfer was hardly fighting all out then; not only could he overload the energy siphoning with a planet-crusher level blast, but he could have just disintegrated him, spontaneously.
Still, it shows that he can channel a lot of energy.

I know this is a question but a few years back, when Steel had his own book, towards the end of his series they implied that John may be a Meta-Human and at one point he could "call" his armor from another dimension. On top of that any damage to the armor when sent there was "fixed"
There was also a connection between his "supposed Meta" status and his control of the hammer.
Since his book ended I have not heard much from that, can anyone tell me what happened with that ?? To me that might tip the scales in his favor.
whitmore_sean – was right about Steel. When they first introduced him he was a mechanical engineer Weapons/Ballistics expert. He was at Genius Level but since his book cancelled and he joined JSA he seems to have picked up some new specialties.

Hmm....I think virtually this all boils down to wether or not John has the Aegis armor or not. Without it Iron Man kicks him around Seattle a couple of times and still has enough time to hit the bar.
With the Aegis one of two things happens - Tony uses the Hulkbuster armor and downloads Jacosta into the Aegis armor - forcing it to obey his commands and become a new toy for him to expirament on - OR - Steel crushes Iron Man in a long, drawn out battle.
Personally I'm sticking with Stark on this one - he's got the higher IQ, more experience and also has gone up against more brutual threats than Steel.

:) Ok I see we have a bunch of Marvel fans here.
Steel would win because his armor is more advance.
I'm not speaking of the aegis I'm speaking of the latest upgraded armor built with New Genesis technology he worked with while in the Justice league.
now so you'll know what i mean
in JLA act of God it was stated when all the meta-heroes lost there power that the most powerful hero on the planet was ...Steel.
DC heroes are on a higher power curve than Marvel characters.
The Hulk cal lift 100 tons Superman like 5000 tons. According to the DC heroes RPG Steel can lift in Armor about 2000 tons or so.
That means he can rip Starks armor in two easily.
His hammer has the ability to hit harder the father its thrown. It could in theory com down with enough force to flatten a city. Iron Man will have no chance.
On another war front. Steel has used his armor to hack into other combat systems including the Armor of Prometheus who is a villian almost as smart as Batman who we all know is smarter than Tony Stark.
Sorry guys Stark...the Drunken sot loses.
