After we've seen the episodes that supposedly introduced us to the heroes in their respective light, what episodes of these were the best that have the character set, with no real need to do a follow-up spotlight.
We've seen thus far:
Martian Manhunter (Jonn' Jonnz) : Secret Origins
Green Lantern (John Stewart) : In Blackest Night
Wonder Woman : Paradise Lost
Superman (who doesn't really need one) : War World
Flash : The Brave & The Bold
I vote for Green Lantern thus far. In Blackest Night gave us depth into his background more than any other character. In every episode we see, we know he's very militaristic. But what does that mean? Militaristic is not defined by the guy in green with the deep voice who screams "Fire" with no remorse. It means they go by the book, get the job done, but don't ever take it tooo serious. Anyone who knows military people know this.
Wonder Woman's episode just didn't really give us enough information about why she defied her mother, why she cared enough for humanity, and so forth. It was just showing us her strength and voice talents was all. Also Diana has never had much else to say in other episodes other than "Hera help..." She will require another spotlight to iron her character out, maybe "Fury" will do it.
Jonn Jonnz continues to be mysterious which actually works for the character, but we need to explore his loneliness on Earth and his isolation. A few words about him being lonely and him being the last of his kind is cool and all, but it just isn't convincing enough. We also need to see him tested to the limit of his abilities. Although, he has used his multiple powers more than Superman has.
Superman is disappointing. His character needs to get back to basics of what he was in STAS. Silent, mysterious, noble, boyscout. Also, he needs to use his powers more, even in the least, if not then don't have him around. Maybe next season we'll see more of the old Superman, I think the writers and artists were probably exhausted of him from the old series, which explains why they're having more fun with the colorful other heroes. Also, why do we really need a spotlight on him. We know him and Batman, leave them alone. That "War World" was poor because they didn't let Supes go all out like he did in "Legacy". Perhaps that event affected him. Hmmmmm.
Flash is a character without too much substance, we know where he's coming from. His character was done by right in "Brave & Bold", but it still lacked because of the brief origin. In a future episode we need to see him explore what made him put on the suit and fight crime. That is the reason of a spotlight.
Hawkgirl??
The only member it seems who was totally neglected of a spotlight this season. Little by little, we see into her character. But, like Martian Manhunter the mysterious side may work for awhile, but not too long. Maybe we'll learn she's married, or why she's hanging out on Earth and not Thanagar. Maybe we'll be introduced to some of her baddies, like Doctor Light.
Next season, we have to see more of a spotlight on, Number One, Hawkgirl. She should be in the season opener. Thangar or bust. Next, Jonn Jonnz, have him return to the empty Mars and reflect on his character. Have him embrace humanity more. Maybe go to the club with Flash and GL or something. Wonder Woman, have her character figure out what women are like in this world. Have her defend her be the one pushing Superman aside when leader moments come along. She is an Amazon, a Princess, and she needs to act like it. And if the team doesn't like it, have GL start a fight with her. Flash, I want to see Reverse Flash next season. Which means he need to see Star Labs, and Central City. I'm not sure if the city they were in in "Brave and Bold" was Central or Metropolis, but we need to see it. We need to see how they treat him, also, Star Labs is important to Flash's origin. I've written enough, time to sleep off this carpal tunnel syndrome.
