Is this cartoon banned or has it appeared on TV before?
Nickelodion used to show it alot when they had the rights to air Looney Tunes, but I think the end gag would get cut out.

I don't remember seeing that one on TV, but part of it was used in the Speedy cartoon "Muchos Locos", when Speedy shows a kid clips from Daffy Duck cartoons on an imaginary TV screen.

...And in syndication it showed up in toto, fully unedited, up through the end of 1989 when my local indie station quit airing the great toons :( I still love the "dragon lady" and the Chinese car... ;) ;)

Yes to both. It has been on TV much in the past but it's now been banned from Cartoon Network. Fortunately I have a copy on a WB-issued video from years ago.
Hopefully, WB can get these things properly remastered and on to DVD's where they belong.

It was definitely cut out. After Porky says "better to press shirt than press luck", Nick irises the cartoon out using closing music from Daffy's Southern Exposure (1942). Daffy, talking in jibberish Chinese with subtitles "Help! I'm being held prisoner in a Chinese laundry!" is not shown.
And that was when I stopped watching Looney Tunes on Nick, before CN took over everything.

The uncut version of "China Jones" is available on the Porky Pig Tales video. It is out of print, but it can occassionally be found in Wal-Mart's video bargain bin.

It can also be found on a PAL tape I've seen called 'Looney Tunes Collection-Porky Pig' which I've bought from ebay.co.uk . I should have it in the next week!

Funny you should mention Freleng's super-classic 'Rhapsody Rabbit" as one of your most favorite Warners cartoons... Because the other day I was reading an interview with Friz done very, very late in his life. And he was wishing for the interviewer to forget that cartoon!!! And that he wished that he'd never put the mouse-with-the-mallet gag in!!!
Maybe, just maybe creative geniuses should NOT be interviewed late, late in life...
