Thanks to <a href="http://www.comicon.com/newsarama">Comic Newsarama</a> for the heads up on this. The latest update on the May 4th promotion Free Comic Book Day is something that should please the publishers! Diamond Comics Distributors report that as of this week, the number of comics slated for availability through comics shops on May 4th is nudging the 2 million mark. Close to 2,000 stores are participating in event, including in all 50 of the United States and a total of 29 countries around the world.
Also included on the latest update, in an effort to try to encourage comics readers to try to interest non-reading friends in event, and trying a free comic or two, Diamond, along with The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide and Collect.comhave posted a “primer” on comics history and milestones.
In the areas titles ‘New to Comics?’ and ‘Comics History & Stats’, information is given including historical timelines, comic book “firsts” and an introduction to collecting.
