I saw it, and thought it was a great movie. Everything up to the the end with the city destoryed was just like out of a Resident Evil game. The whole Zombie/whatever popping out and scaring you got a little old after a while though. I also like how they said something about the turning one of the main characters into Nemesis.

This is the best video game movie to date. :)

"I want him in the Nemesis program"

It's clear what's happening. They made a PREQUEL to the first game's storyline. The sequel will have Clair trying to find her missing brother (Nemesis), and we'll see Racoon City zombified. A great ending. You just didn't see those men in biohazard suits coming.

I WAS going to go see it...... but do to the fact that nobody else in my family wanted to....... I got out-voted and we saw something else. I'm planning on seeing sometime next week, though.

Hopefully the next movie is more horror and less sci fi.

I would have liked to see it, but it got very, very bad reviews (0 out of 4 stars). Instead we saw Ice Age :p .

Despite reading nothing but bad reviews, I was very surprised by RE. Very enjoyable though I was expecting more gore. I couldn't believe they would cut away from certain death scenes. I loved the ending. Complete set up for a sequel so let's all hope that it happens. The reference to Nemesis was pretty cool. Entertainment websites from Cinescape to IGN are reporting that a sequel is planned IF the first one does well.

I've never cared for what movie critics say. I just read them and don't think about them.

I saw this movie this afternoon. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. I enjoyed it, and I'd recommend it to any RE fans - its worth seeing at least once.

I am stuffed. I had too much. Last night, I ate my words with a side of humble pie. I had it in my head that this was going to be the worst film since Gone Fishin'! I was going in with little or no expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised. Acting was okay, dialouge wasnt too bad, and it stuck relatively close to the main feel of the game (I have them all, even Survivor! hehe! :p ) . Dont get me wrong, I have my problems with this movie, but all in all, it left a relatively decent taste in my mouth. I love the fact that they killed of that group of insignifigant characters in like the first 30 minutes! I hated them from the start, and i was happy that my wish for their demise was granted! it felt so gratifiying :D the zombies were done really well too. not too hoaky, like certain retro zombie flicks (which I love. Romero is a genious). my fav was the licker! thank god he wasnt in it too much, though. anyway, it was good, but I hope there isnt a sequel. I HATE SEQUELS!!! (Terminator 2 was an exception)

This movie was EXCELLENT.. VERY GOOD. the only reason it got bad reviews is because the people who review movies are 50 year olds who enjoy drama and movies that make you cry.

What was Mila's name in the movie?

Alice. Alice and the Red Queen.

Why Alice and not Jill..... they should have used Jill :\

They didn't want to use any of the character from the games to try and keep some suspense in the movie. If you know who the characters are before the movie even begins, you automatically know who will live and who will die. By using new characters, you have some element of suspense and surprise.

The movie was...ugh...not so good. Was anyone else annoyed by how the horrbly loud music drowned out a lot of the dialogue, sound, etc...? There were times when I couldn't hear anything. Granted, they were going for the music video effect probably, but I'd like to be able to hear the dialogue better. There were some cool parts and some nice cameras moves, but the bad outweighs the good. I wasn't expecting much from this movie and I was still dissapointed.

Wish I saw ICE AGE instead...

the only way yuou wouldnt like it is if you didnt like the music, which i thought was perfect for a tough action scene with guns.

I like that type of music. I have a wide variety of taste when it comes to music. And I did think it was cool. What I didn't like was how it drowned out some of the dialogue.

I didn't think the movie was as bad as some of the early reviews, but I thought it could have been much better. It had it's moments, but was a total mess. I liked the dogs, the "Nemesis" part onward, the Marilyn Manson score, and the parts that actually featured zombies.

The acting/editing were atrocious. It was apparent that a couple of scenes were missing. Talking about the one where Alice and "bad guy" character were talking in one scene and then running from zombies in the next. There was no transition or any indication that they had even left the prior scene. One minute they are in deep conversation, the next they are running full stride from zombies that were never there. Terrible. Another would be when everyone is walking down the tunnels near the end. They give no indication or act like that they are being pursued by a horde of zombies. One of the characters mentions that "those things are right behind us" and then all of a sudden all hell breaks loose. It just didn't make any sense based on the 2 minutes that came before it. Typical logic gaps/leaps. That ending was great, though. Reminded me of the last 2 Romero films, in terms of the way it looked and felt.

Catch it in a matinee only if you are a RE fan. I am, so I could halfheartedly forgive some of it's many shortcomings. The 4th "Living Dead" film, "Dead Reckoning" will probably be the next "great" zombie film. Leave it to Romero.

Are you sure this was the movie's fault and not your local theater's? I remember once I saw a movie where the sound was terrible - the music kept coming up over the dialogue, and it bugged the heck out of me. But then I saw the movie again in another theater, and they didn't have this problem at all. Just wondering, since I don't remember the music ever coming up over the dialogue when i saw RE. What scenes did this happen in?

that is possibility because i didnt hear music over the voices.. and ijust recently Hollywood theater (which sucks) did that and it also has part of the movie on the wall.. HORRIBLE

I just saw "Resident Evil" last night along with "The Time Machine", which is a must-see for any science nerd. I was very surprised. I expected it to be basically "Night of the Living Dead" with a few characters I know. Not only were the (human) characters new, they actually stuck to the games pretty well. I didn't expect them to use characters like lickers at all. I'm really looking forward to the sequel. On a side note, the score blew me away. Marylin Manson show stop trying to shock people and write more movie scores.

i enjoyed it. it really reminded of if you chemically combineded Aliens and Day of the dead. The stole something from day of the dead too. Towards the beginning of day of the dead you see a newspaper that says the dead walk. It sux though that they not let George A. Romero direct it. As much as i liked the movie i think he could have made it better, but the studio cut his script because they said he was making it too horror.

I was totally thrilled by Resident Evil. My roommate thought it was going to reek and afterwards I was convinced he was horrifically wrong. I'm going to echo the thought that this is the best video game movie adaptation, and it was fantastic. I even loved the ending. I was only periphally aware of the game in that I played it a handful of times enough to get some basic plot down, but this was great.
One of the coolest things about it, that never really struck me during the game was how creepy the name of Raccoon City was. I mean it's weird in the game I was like okay yeah, but having it translated into something realistic and live action I was creeped out by the thought of that town existing. Not just because of the zombies, it's just the name racoon City was unsettling or something. It's hard to explain, kinda like the creepy Alice in Wonderland vibe too. Freakish. Awesome filck.
