I don't know. It doesn't look too bad anymore now that we have our first real glimpse at the whole thing. The CGI Scooby looks pretty good I think. The decision for the old school costumes is still iffy. The dialogue doesn't sound too bad either. Matthew Lillard sounds a little like the real Shaggy, though Casey Kasem should have dubbed his voice. :) I wouldn't be surprised to see this attached to Ice Age this weekend.

Good gravy, that was terrible! The video movies were 50 times better than this! I hope it bombs big time! Looks like this summer will belong to the Force, and your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!

well i think the previews only furthered anybody's doubts about this movie..it kind of makes biodome look like oscar material...what's up with daphne: the vampire slayer??..do we need even her doing charlie's angels/matrix/crouching tiger hidden dragon fighting too??

I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but it looks...okay. The stuff that entertained me the most featured Matthew Lillard and Scooby. They could be the deciding factor between whether I see it and whether I avoid it. Although, I am fully in agreement with you, mbaker: the DTV movies are much better.

I'm speechless...words can't describe how much I don't wanna see this movie..
I mean, it looks ALOT better than I would've thought..but it's still not somthing I'd go see...
ah well, maybe I'll rent it when it comes out on DVD... :)

It doe slook better than what I thoight it'd be. I will give them 2 pros:
1) Matthew Lilliard. Wow - he nails Shaggy perfectly. This is just great casting. The voice is so remarkably dead on. Great job on Lilliard.
2)Scooby - he actually looks pretty cool. It's obvious he's CGI so I won't be distracted by it during the whole movie. Kids will likely belive the dog is real, or close enough. Plus, they got Scooby pretty dead on, too.
The rest I'm a bit iffy about. Fred doesn't look that good, nor does Velma. Daphne doesn't look too bad, although I'm still a bit iffy on her. I think if WB concentrates the advertising on Shaggy and Scooby (which they will) they will have a $120 mill (at least) grosser.
I did think it was nice homage when Shaggy jumped into Scooby's arms. Nicely done.

I'll admitt, it doesn't seem as bad as I thought it would. Matthew Lilliard sounds so much like Shaggy, it scares me. Plus I'm learning to deal with a cgi Scooby Doo. I even laughed at their scenes together in the trailor!

The trailer is much better than expected. The kid part that's still in me wants more footage of this movie. There are some good parts that I liked a lot:
Shaggy's voice was dead-on! I am shocked that Matthew nailed the voice.
Scooby looks good for a CGI dog. I'm sure the kids will think he's real, since I thought he was looking good in the scenes. They did a great job bringing Scooby and Shaggy's friendship to life and that I will give them credit.
The other characters though, well, I though they pretty much sucked. Velma I only saw a little of, so I will reserve my judgement until I see her in the movie. Fred's part with the whole rapper talk was out of character, and Daphne fighting was also out of character. The others (Scooby and Shaggy) I really liked, and I hope at least most of the movie I will like also.

Ack! The trailer dosn't work for me. I have a pretty crappy computer. :( But I'll speak my peace any way. Dosn't look too bad. Could be better could be worse. Though Daphne fighting isn't entrelly out of character. She did do some judo moves in Zombie Island. I heard she learns martal arts to break free of her "damsle in dissress" role, in the moive. At least that's what I heard. I can't wait to hear Lillard's role as Shaggy. Jugeing by the posts he got Shaggy dead on. The CGI Scooby looks good. Looks real but not too real.
Fred rapping!? That sounds funny in a kinda disterbing way. :p

wow I'm surprised ppl actually like this trailer. To me SB appears to be one of the dumbest movies ever! I mean, the dialogue? ugh. Big ugh. I've never been a big SB fan anyway.
Somethings screwed up because the darn trailer will not load for the life of it. I go to that link and it's as if the trailer is non existant. I don't know what the heck people are talking about.
okay IT FINALLY LOADED.
Man, Seeing Daphne in action? pathetic. They've slaughtered that and I think they can get a little less of an idiot to play her. Shes too much spice girl and not enough classic Daphne. she tries to be a charlie's angel--- and comes off ruining just the toon style character... and she may not be blonde but she sure sounds and acts like a movie blonde... UGH!
The only thing that made me smile was the Shaggy Voice. None of the characters really look like they should--- and sound just bizarre, except for shaggy. he looks weird but the voice makes up for it I guess.
I'm just hoping Atkinson (ugh bad spelling day) pulls it off as a superb villain.
Overall--- the kiddies will love it I guess-- because thats about all they can fool with this
Velma? 'your name means Scooby poo?'
WHAT KIND OF LINE WAS THAT!? Who slipped the brain a little alcohol or something?
I shake my head in shame and I know they cant fool my 16 year old little sister who's a darn addict of Scooby Doo. I'm contemplating sending the trailer or not...
ahhh yes, the forum looks nice--- what's that i see in the background? MIB's Agent Jay from MIB when he's about to neuralyze Agent Kay? I LOVE IT! I'm very happy with it!

My biggest gripe is Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred. That is just horrible casting. They are nothing like each other. It doesn't work. That is my big gripe. The rest of the cast ranges from great (Lilliard) to mediocre (Gellar). But Prinze Jr.? Lord...why him? Has anyone been paying attention to his track record? His last (and only) hit was 'She's All That', one of the worst movies of all time...

According to an article, Freddy did the most because he always wanted to do a movie like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", his favorite moive and he wanted to work with his fiance Sarah Michelle Gellar. Finally he didn't get Spider-Man, so this is the next best thing for him.

Freddy Prinz Jr. makes Fred acted more like a jerk than he was in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. Sad isn't it.

Why is Freddie sounded like he's black?
he should have been like a jock, instead of a Eminem wanna be
(Hey, sounds like a good idea, let Eninem play Freddie, so Daph can kick the crap out of him.
I hate to say this, but Matthew was the best actor nailing his character.
The movie will still suck, and it will not make any money. Spider-man and Star wars will rule for at least three months.

The trailer really didn't give me a good enough glimpse of the movie to really form much of a judgment in terms of the characters. Like a lot of you said, Lillard seems perfect as Shaggy, and I have no problem with the cgi Scooby. I like Gellar, but the trailer really didn't show enough for me to know where they're going with the character. Same for Fred and Velma. I guess I'd like to see more context.
The major problem I had is with the setting. Where the hell is this taking place? In the cartoon, it was usually night and they were investigating some forboding place like a haunted castle or something. That doesn't seem to be what they're going with in the movie, which seems problematic.
Just looking at the trailer alone, it doesn't look very good. But being familiar with the cartoon, I'm also aware of the potential. It could turn out all right. I just don't know.
There's been a lot of criticism of this project, even before this trailer was out. It does look like the movie could suck, but is that the reason for the slams or because you guys don't like the cartoon? If it's a dislike of the cartoon, that doesn't seem fair. If you don't like the cartoon, of course you wouldn't like a movie version.

Lilliard got the Shaggy voice down, but I think he looks nothing like him. I only watched half the trailer but I saw the first Fred and Daphne parts... and I just couldn't stomach anymore. (Plus the download stopped for some reason, probably because it was too ashamed to go. :p)

I saw the trailer last night with Ice Age and was only impressed with three things:
The casing of Shaggy & Velma...and the CGI work of Scooby.
That's it. Fred, sucks. Daphne, sucks. Oh my God I can't get over how much they both suck... Prinze Jr. & Gellar are fine in other movies but not this one.
No way in Hannah-Barbara hell will I be going to see this movie...

Freddie Prinze's little rap thingie he doe sin the trailer was just very...off. I was sorta grinding my teeht when I saw that. And the more I see the trailer, the more I'm accepting Gellar as Daphne. I hear she does this training so she won't always be the 'damsel in distress', which could actuallty work for her in the movie. As I've said before, Lilliard is dead on in the movie. Perrfecgt casting. I may end up seeing this just for Shaggy and Scooby.

I do think Gellar will be good as Daphne. It seems like with Daphne and Fred, they're leaning toward the "Pup Named Scooby" versions of the characters. The trailer didn't give much of look at Velma, so it's hard to say there. And like you said, Shaggy and Scooby seem right out of the cartoon. The movie could work out. I'm hoping there'll be a second trailer, so that I can get a better sense of where they're going with this. Right now, my only major gripe is the island setting. They could have done a lot better than that.

Agreed. I'm not a big fan of the "on a remote island" set up. I have a feeling this could end up horrible - like The Flintstones...but it could turn out good like The Brady Bunch. There is hope yet for the movie, but it is very slim.
