View Full Version : REVIEW: Today's KWB (well, just MiB)`

I'll note that today's Zeta was apparently that "spacies" episode again....(muttering: "spacies"..."space hippies"....heee-larious....) and also the usual ***SPOILERS***
MiB: THe conclusion to last week's storyline. Not quite as entertaining as last week's installment, or so it seemed to me...I'll note that my prediction from a week ago of some lame cop-out being used (some sort of global neuralizing effect) *did* prove to come true (which makes me wonder about the vast amount of newspapers/magazines/personal diaries/TV archive footage/etc. of said alien fleet that would've been recorded in the meanwhile)...then again, I guess if they didn't do that, they couldn't, um, leave the (unlikely) hope of the show coming back...and, erm, the not being able to use those flashy neuralizer thingies either ;-)
And with this show's run complete, it looks as if I can settle back with ignoring KWB for the forseeable future ("Jackie Chan" aside). Esp. after seeing that they've already beginning to trot out their "new and improved" fall lineup a few months early (with that promo for "Rescue Heroes" or whatever it's called)...

Yeah they should have left the entire world aware of MIB's existance.

But as Zed stated, they're useless if their cover is blown. They're a covert group, and need to remain as such.

But why are they useless if they are not covert? I mean if everyone knows there are aliens whats the big deal. They would just be reconized.

MIB's sole purpose was to be a covert organization, who's very purpose was to make sure humans don't know that aliens walk the earth. And since the world was neuralized at the end of the episode, it would be pointless to make themselves known.

Funny you should mention that. Recently we on the TTAFF ml completed the UKE Awards (inspired by the Harley Awards). I was in charge of parts of it & had toons from WB shows past & present hand out awards --- Cosgrove & Freakazoid, Hunter & Colleen, Faust Tesla & Moo Goo Gai Pan, Brain & Master, Brain & Nostradamus, etc. For Most Humiliating Experience I chose the one who'd been humiliated the most --- Agent J. Of course the other MIBs weren't too happy about that; fortunately they were there on business --- to bring in Marvin Martian for that stunt he pulled on Sylvester & Tweety. L & X grabbed the tapes of the show from backstage while K neuralized the audience (& had Daffy & Sylvester fill in for J). When J brought up the point you just did, K said "The twins will come up with something".
You cant keep the MIB down. I think it leave it open nicely just in case all is right with the world and they can bring the show back. hehe

Didn't realize there was a TTA version of the "Harley Awards" (which I"m on the verge of submitting to be archived, having whittled it down to, um....ok, so it's *not* whittled, but it's as close to it as it's gonna get with how long that thing ran). Did this one involve an inappropriate-in-an-award-show Final Confrontation™ at the end? :-)
Re: MiB: in the stories where I've even mentioned MIB (which hasn't been mentioned much at all in the stories to date), I just treated them as, well, "just a TV show" :-) Thinking of a throwaway scene in some story where they're all waiting for KWB to renew their series:
K: Give it up, slick. The honchos have got bigger things to fall back on...or do you forget all those "Pokemon" promos we did?
J: (Standing by a phone) *They'll call*...they have to! I mean, with a sequel comin' out, how could we *not* get renewed?!
[Six months later...J's still by the phone, with cobwebs formed between him and the phone....he suddenly goes into a frenzied rage]
J: (Banging his head against the phone base) YAAAH! WHY---WON'T---THEY---*CALL*?!?
K: Easy, slick...fortunately, we've got other things for you to fall back on. [Hands J a piece of paper]
J: (Reading it) "Enemy of the State 2: Electric Boogaloo"?!? Wha--?!?
K: And check out your co-star... (points to two agents dragging in fanficdom's Dr. Gene Burrows [voiced by Gene Hackman], in all his mechanized-robotic glory...)
J: (Moans)
:-)
