View Full Version : What cartoons SHOULD be overplayed

Here are a couple of cartoons I wish were played more often... (how is is all the "good" cartoons get the axe?)

Porky and Gabby (it has Gabby in it and i'm bored with the others)
The Milky Wife (uncut or edited, I want to see just how bad the edit is)
A Lad in Baghdad (1 of the two Egghead cartoons I don't have)
Isle of Pingo Pongo (this one's banned, right?)

I think some more redrawns should be shown. I kinda like 'um. They're fun to watch for me. And I only have three redrawn episodes (Porky's Bear Facts, Impatient Patient, and Porky's Railroad). They should show Wholly Smokes at a decent time, but knowing my luck, they'll air the computer colorized version by that time.

Why overplay cartoons in the first place? You get sick of them easier that way. Just keep the airtime for all of them at a level.

yup, Pingo Pongo is one of the Censored 11.

I would like to see all of the censored/banned shorts to be overplayed in their entireity for a short time, like maybe a month or so. But like PorkyandDaffy, I don't think there's much of a point in overplaying certain cartoons indefinitely, you'd get sick of it. A better way of phrasing the question would be, which cartoons would you want to see played more often.

I'd much rather see the B&W than redrawns. Those need to be more frequently shown too. They shy away from the older stuff too much.

And I want to see Peace On Earth. Possibly the only MGM Harman/Ising that I'd want to see.

Wait 'til Christmas, "Peace On Earth" will most definately be shown for Christmas, since that's when it takes place.

It's a great cartoon (IMO) excellent animation and effects, sort of chilling for a Harman Ising piece too.

Personally, having seen the first one, I want to see the 50s remake, "Good Will To men," where I quess they hint more at atomic bombs (rather than at regular warfare) as the destruction of mankind.

I'd like them to utilize WB's black and white library more, I've seen the redrawns WAY too much. Is it too much to ask to see the REAL version of "Puss and Booty" just once? It's one of my favorite Tashlin cartoons, but I've never seen the real version of it, just the -let's paint ugly backgrounds that don't match up with badly painted cels put in front of them so it looks like the lady of the house can fly up the stairs!- version.

I think it's silly how Turner won't show "pingo-Pongo"

It could EASILY be edited and still be intelligible.

I don't think CN airs Miss Glory enough. It's an excellent cartoon that kinda makes me sad that they don't make them like that anymore!

Miss Glory was on not too long ago, actually. I remember seeing it, probably on the Looney Tunes Show. But they really don't run it very often, just like many of the other older, great toons.

I was right, according to the archives, it was on the Acme Hour at 8 PM on 5/5. So it is being shown, just not much.

Robin Hood Daffy
The Rabbit of Seville
Broomstick Bunny (if only for Witch Hazel's makeover at the end - Rowrr, Rowrr!)
the Three Bears trilogy
any pre-1962 Speedy Gonzales cartoon (we don't see enough of him nowadays)
Putty Tat Trouble
any Goofy Gophers cartoon

All Speedy Gonzales (yes, those wonderful 1965-1968s:p (I really honestly like them) and all older ones too.

Bosko
Buddy
Beans (the ones not shown)
All avoided B&Ws
All stereotypical Mexican and Indian cartoons

To simply put it, all B&W and offensive cartoons should be shown late at night.

Forget about TCM, even though I get that station, I never watch it.
