Hi peeps.

As some of you might know I am from Denmark and ever since I got on the Internet there has been no Danish website for Batman. So I have more or less been thinking of making a website for a couple of years but never really done it.

Anyhow - Ever since then I knew that the domain batman.dk was registrered but nothing was ever on the page. But today I just wanted to know if anybody put something up on it and someone did!

www.batman.dk
(click the top link)

what do I find? I site for glideplanes. This has nothing to do with Batman at all. The site has been registered since 97.

Domaine name: batman.dk
Registrered: 1997-10-02
Latest update : 2002-01-01

What's up with this? IMO they should not be allowed to use the domain name Batman.DK since Batman is the trademark of DC.
I was told that one of my friends
once bought the domainname "Cokes Gehenna" and after a while he got a letter from Coca Cola in the United states, telling him to hand over the domain name or face Court. (!!!)

So...What ya'll think? What I want to do is to contact WB and tell them about it...somehow this guy just makes me utterly mad!
...also because *I* want to make a Batman website really bad...and not some glider site!

I'd really like some feedback on this.

Thanks!

Yeah, well, the thing with the internet is it's international, and copyright laws weren't designed with the whole "Internet Domain Name" in mind.

Sucks that you can't reg batman.dk...

you could always try getting dc-batman.dk

=\

Well, Coke is doing the, we'll sue, because there's no way you can match us in court aproach...because chances are, your friend wouldn't make it in a long drawn out court battle...he'd run out of money.

There is no true legal reason why your friend would have to give up that domain name. As it stands now, it's 1st come, 1st serve.

However, there would be cause, if he was prentending to BE Coca-Cola, and/or used copywritten matterials on the website without Coke's Permission

That's a major bummer Fish! Well, I would try emailing them anyways, perhaps ask them just exactly why they have that domain name? It really doesn't make sense for them to have that name and it has nothing to do with anything in the Batman universe. But, they might be big fans of Batman, and just felt like using a domain name like that. Never know until you contact them. I agree with Nar though, that if they aren't going to change it, just alter that domain name a bit.
