Normally, the voices for JL is much better than anything that Super Friends had. And the actors doing the voices are top notch. But, I think I prefer the old Super Friends Grodd voice to Powers Boothe's version on JL.

I liked Powers Boothe

I can understand understand why, Doc.

I believe Mr. Ted Cassidy ( who you may or may NOT remember as Lurch on "The Addams Family") provided the voice for Grodd on the old Superfriends show. Not to mention Black Manta and a host of other villians.

Ol' Ted was a hard act to follow.

The Superfriends' Grodd's voice was much better and sounded more sinister than the Justice League version

Sinister voices...That's what ol' Ted Cassidy did best.
R.I.P.

Thanks, Spider, for testifying to this great voice actor. :)

He may not have gotten the recognition say that Mel Blanc, Don Messick or Daws Butler did, but there's a whole lot of cartoon villians who wouldn't have sounded quite so threatening if it weren't for ol' Ted. (Including our favorite despot from Gorrilla City)

And as for all who tried to follow him as Lurch in all the Addams Family movies and TV shows that happened in the 90's, come on...do I even have to say it? :p

Here's waiting for that eventual "Injustice Gang" episode...

Sisto Kid,

You're welcome. I loved his voice work in ST:TOS--esp. when he was the voice of 'Balok' ("The Corbomite Maneuver"). Also, we got to see him in the flesh in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" His voice (as well as his appearance) made a lasting impression on me. :)

Oh, yeah, I remember those Star Trek episodes too!!!
"Yes...the old ones...I remember..." :D

He was such a good actor, and unfortunately, an under-appreciated one. but he was so typecast after playing Lurch, that he could only get voice actor work and bit parts in B-Movies and TV shows after Addams Family was canceled. :(

But whenever he DID make an appearance, you would know him instantly!! :D

I must agree with everyone that Ted Cassidy was a fantastic voice talent. However, he provided the voices for Black Manta and Brainiac on "Challenge of the Superfriends," not Grodd.

Stanley Ralph Ross was the voice of Grodd in Superfriends. He also provided the voice for the 80's metal-skulled Brainiac in the last two seasons of the show and the voice for Perry White in the Ruby-Spears "Superman" series from 1988.

Just a little info.

Yikes! You're right! :o

I looked it up and you are correct. Thanx Toddman. ;)

Also, if I am not mistaken, wasn't Stanley Ralph Ross one of the executive producers of the old Batman TV show? I thought I remember seeing his name in the credits, but if not, then I've embarrased myself enough.

That sounds right, now that I think back to it. It seems odd that someone would go from TV producer to cartoon voice actor. I wonder what else he did? Guess I'll have to look him up on IMDB.com.

No need, dude, already did. As a matter of fact, Mr. Ross WAS a WRITER on the old 60's Batman TV show, as well as a writer on several Wonder woman episodes in the 70's.

wow...our man Stanley had a lot more ties to the superhero world than we thought!

Why? Ralph...I forgot his name...whatever his name is...the guy from Superfriends...his voice is corny...remember...Justice League is for grown ups...Super Friends wasn't.
