The sixth of 12 polls has begun! Below are the voting choices for the sixth set of 10 episodes. If the turn out for this fourth poll is low, then it will be shut down. The episode options are above! Stay tuned for updates on this thread, and feel free to discuss the poll here as well.

Wow, this was a tough one...lotsa good eps here, but in the end, it came down to HARLEY & IVY and MUDSLIDE for me. I went with the gals, ultimately; it was the only good episode where Harley * Ivy appeared as a team, and it was damn good.

I've gotta plug it:
"His Silicon Soul."
This is easily one of the five best episodes ever. Even if you didn't like the HARDAC episodes before, this is reason enough to like him.

This could turn out to be an interesting poll. So far, no episode has a clear lead as many votes are for seperate episodes. Now this will hopefully be an interesting, close poll.

This is kinda tough. There's a few episodes I like a lot, but none particularly stand out. Hmm... well it comes down to The Man Who Killed Batman, Mudslide, and The Demon's Quest Pt.1 for me, but... I think I'm going to have to go with Mudslide. The final scenes in that ep were incredible.
well, I haven't voted yet, I may go back and look at some of the eps, to see which is really the best..The "Mechanic" ,,,,and very realistic.. , I only looked at it once, of course, the Demon Quest is most exciting, some great character input in Harley and Ivy....Lots to think about in this one.. I'll vote later this week.. Hope all is well with all....Stuart

MAN! NOW this is a tough poll.
Two of my favorite, and in my opinion, two of the best episodes are on this poll:
Harley and Ivy not only shows two of the greatest "Gotham Gals" in action together, causing mayhem, but it also marks the first episode that REALLY EXPLORES Harley Quinn in some fashion, liberating her from the "Joker's Henchgirl" title and giving her a unique character all to her own-exclusive AND inclusive of her relationship with the Joker. While Mad Love may have done this better, this episode does mark a cornerstone.
But if Demon's Quest isn't a cornerstone, what is? It was the episode many, if not all, true Batman fans anticipated. AT THE END OF OFF BALANCE, RAS AL GHUL GIVES A CAMEO APPEARANCE, CERTAINLY HEIGHTENING ANTICIPATION FOR THIS EPISODE . While the animation in Harley and Ivy is decent, and while the story is very good, well....frankly, I have to go with Demon's Quest part 1. It represents a tale different from any other episode of the animated series. It presents a new character to the series, a character highly anticipated off the wings of the comics and the episode above. But, NOT ONLY THAT, but it lives up to expectations with an excellent story. Many nuances (ex. "I'll just call that Strike One "<so cool>), excellent animation and expression, a well-crafted storyline, great use of Batman's deductive skills, exploration of love, striking animation, unique environs with a feel each to their own, a riveting and moving soundtrack that flows elegantly with the story (even moreso in part 2), and just a nice flow all around. A true gem.
While Harley and Ivy is a great episode that I enjoy HIGHLY, I have to go with DQ1.

It's a popular choice, but I didn't like Mudslide. Come on, Clayface didn't want to be stable. He just wanted to add a plot twist!

Several good ones showed up this time. For me, it was between Mudslide and Silicon Soul, but I went for Silicon Soul. Another excellent psychological episode. The robo-Batman's reaction at having taken a life says it all. I very much wanted to vote for Mudslide too, since I think it was probably the most interesting one to me during the initial BTAS run, but it was one or the other.

HIS SILICON SOUL is the best Batman Episode out of this block.
THE DEMON'S QUEST PART 1
and
SHADOW OF THE BAT PART 1
are close runners up. however, I think that HIS SILICON SOUL just is a more powerful episode. Hardac Imprinted the mind of Bruce Wayne on an Android, and programed toe android to serve him (HARDAC) But In the end The personality of Batman was so truly powerful and just that the Personality overwhelmed the Programming.
The scenes when Robot-Batman is trying to figure out what is going on and who he is are incredibly disturbing.
The others were good episodes, and important to the overall batman story. But HIS SILICON SOUL was special.

This may have been the toughest one yet !!!
A lot of great episodes in this round, but it came down to "The Demon's Quest" for me. Great adaptaion of one of the all time Denny O'Neil classics, and wonderfully animated. Certainly a Top-5 candidate of the entire series for me...

The only two I did NOT want to vote for are Harly & Ivy, and Blind as a Bat.
In the end I voted for The Man Who Killed Batman, because it's an excellent peice of storytelling.
Paging Crime Doctor, and The Mechanic are both among the most human stories in the series, and I liked seeing the Proto-Batmobile.
Mudslide was one of the best Clayface eps. Demon's Quest did the same for Ra's Al Ghul. Any Ra's ep is good. HARDAC is back again in a great ep. Shadow of the Bat introduces Batgirl.
Zatanna is a great ep because not only do we learn about Bruce's past, his training, and his tendencies as a lover, but we also get one of the few really good mystery stories in the series. Arthur Conan Doyle couldn't have done it better.
Personally I rank these ten in this order.
1) The Man Who Killed Batman
2) Paging Crime Doctor
3) The Mechanic
4) Zatanna
5) Demon's Quest part 1
6) Mudslide
7) His Silicon Soul
8) Shadow of the Bat part 1
N/A) Blind as a Bat
N/A) Harley and Ivy

Man, this was a hard one!! I had a hard time deciding between Harley and Ivy, or THe MAn Who Killed Batman. Ultimately, I went with the latter. It was just a cool epp, and a neat way to use Joker and Harley.
I actually quite enjoyed the mechanic, but I really enjoyed Harley and Ivy. It was a more light-hearted episode that was needed during this run of pretty series darker eps.

hello my good friends it a hard one to vote so I vote his silicon soul. I like shadow of the bat and the rest of the episodes but I want to see batman vs batman so I vote it. :)
Demon Quest is great and Harly and Ivy was funny. The Man Who Killed Batman though I think was gret and funny. It had pretty good animation and Sidney was just plan funny. The Joker mock funeral was also great.

While The Demon's Quest part 1 was a fantastic episode that I really enjoyed, I strongly advise people not to vote for it because if you look ahead to the next ten episodes, part 2 is really the best choice out of those, and if both parts win both polls, they will cancel each other out in the final poll, besides looking silly. My advice is to hold out until the next poll, unless, of course, you thought part 1 was far superior to the others.

A ton of great episodes this time around! Despite the sheer epic magnitude of The Demon's Quest p1, the emotional Mudslide, the real girl's-night-out in Harley and Ivy, and the awesome Silicon Soul of HARDAC Batman, my vote went to The Man who Killed Batman.
A great piece of storytelling with an unique story told from a unique point of view of a unique character. Sidney Devries probably wasn't the most realistic of characters, but he definately was fun to watch. Also, great characterization of the Joker. We saw just about every extreme emotion from him on this go, from his scenes where he seems to really be mourning Batman (providing me my first glimpse of his true insane motives) to his angry tirade against Sid, to his casual "Well, that was fun!" And he wasn't even the main focus! It was also a pleasure to see Batman beat the crap out of Thorne, who never really got what he deserved in any of the episodes he was in.

"Could it be it had a soul, Alfred? A soul of silicon. . . But a soul, nonetheless." -Batman, His Silicon Soul
This poll was a tough choice but I ultimately went with "His Silicon Soul." I felt this was a very powerful episode and has to be in at least my top 20. The fact that the Bat-Duplicant would end his own life after he realized what he (thought) had done. He really went beyond his original programming. He felt real emotional pain, that he just couldn't live/function with.

While I can see where you are coming from, I feel this may be reading too far into it. I say just vote for the best episode in the poll based on your opinion, regardless of whether or not the sequel is in the next poll. Hypothetically, what if Demon's Quest is a potential candidate for best ep (which in my opinion it is). Should the grouping of other episodes, sequel or not, cost it what it deserves? I think not, IMO. But....like I said, I can see where you are coming from. I just felt the need to advise otherwise.
And ah....King, what shot of Ras in Harley and Ivy? I think you may have it confused with Off Balance, which isn't in this poll. I just thought you might want to know that. Let me know if I'm wrong. After getting back my SCI 103 exam today, I wouldn't put it past myself.

I really enjoyed "Shadow of the Bat Part One" for several reasons which I'd like to share...
Firstly, the animation was leaps and bounds above what had been seen on B:TAS prior. Not only did the story shed some light on the Gordon family relationship, perhaps even more so than "Heart of Steel", it solidified Barbara Gordon's relevance in the Batman universe. Two-Face, on the other hand, also recieved some much needed upgrading. Finally, he was seen doing more than tying Batsy to a giant coin or stealing files or jewerly to thwart Rupert Thorne. He arranged a set-up for Gordon, and a clever one at that. His "mobster-quality" dementia was what made him a respectable and dangerous villain in the first place. Add all this, with an interesting (and plausable) origin story for Batgirl, and some great/funny character interactions between Bruce, Dick, Alfred and Barbara and you surely end up with one of the most entertaining, visually captivating, heart-pounding stories in the entire run of Batman: The Animated Series. Don't you agree?

Had to go w/ Harley & Ivy. It had one of my favorite title cards. And Walker did a great job blending Harley's theme w/ Ivy's. Plus this episode really helped to develop Harley's character.
The Man Who Killed Batman was another great ep. I especially loved the Joker's segment. Joker's ego is clearly defined when he's enraged that HE is not the one to snuff the Bat. Also this ep inspired a wonderful WB Lim Ed cel, Wild Cards, depicting Joker, Harley, with Bud & Lou (the hyenas) in the Ha-Hacienda!!!
Loved the Demon's Quest. Off Balance definitely left me anxious for Ra's al Ghul's return, as did Tools of the Trade for future Darkseid stories. I loved the fight scene where Batman took on all those Shadow fighters in the caves of the Himalayas. Also, it was neat to get Batman out of Gotham. It really showcased his man-of-the-world status.

This one was a little tough to call, but in the end I chose "Harley and Ivy." "Demon's Quest Part I" was okay, but "Demon's Quest Part II" was better, because it had a lovely piece of music when Batman and the nomads rode across the desert. When it comes up at the polls, I'm voting for that episode!
Favorite line in "Harley and Ivy": "Nice goin', Butterfingers. Why don't you turn on the Bat-Signal while you're at it?"

this is an extremely hard vote, but i went with "Shadow Of the Bat" part 1.
why??
That was one great ep, and One hell of a Two Parter!!!!! seriously, that was probably one of the best written stories of the whole series. twoface was perfect in it and so was batgirl. the only thing it was slightly lacking in was animation quality, but the animation was okay, just not great like in eps like "the demons quest".
i urge everyone to vote for shadow of the bat part 1. while the demon's quest was a great arch, shadow of the bat, imo, was alittle better. it was a real gritty gotham story, involving so many great elements that make batman so great, like the gcpd, the gotham underworld, some nice undercover/detective work by the dark knight, SO many great things. vote for it!!!!!! :D
now, the only problem w/ it was concerns part 2 and wheter or not that guy ever wakes up from his coma and spills the beans on batgirls identity. or maybe he'll have amnesia. peace.

Actually, there are quite a few votes, just not for one particular thing. It's really been spead out this time.
I chose this one because it really kept my attention, and I found Ra an extremely interesting adversary for Batman...The plot in this first part, was logical, a kidnapping, there is much to look at here, and Ra's personality and demenour are dynamic and complex, as is Batman's..I believe the Joker is the only one close to Ra or perhaps his equal, depending on how one looks at it...an outstanding story.

Hey folks,
I've been plugging this thing as much as I can, but it looks like it is not taking. I'm going to do one last effort to get it the word of mouth it deserves by getting it to be a "featured item" on the www.toonzone.net page. If the poll doesn't reach at least 200 posters, then it will be closed down. Sorry folks, but this just doesn't seem to be tkaing. It's extremely frustrating and disheartening. I can't thank enough evenyone who has put mentions of this on their signatures, webistes, etc...but I guess it's something that people just don't want to see. Thank you all very much for helping me out. But at the pace the poll is going this week, it might not make 200. Let's cross our fingers and hope, becuase I'd like to continue this.

Just because I Am the Night lost doesn't mean that the world is coming to an end, or that this poll needs to end! :p
I can see how a powerful 173 votes can be disheartening for something as epic as this. But considering lesser polls, the average of which get near 15 votes and then disappear, 173 is still an awesome number. Also, remember that almost all the World's Finest regulars are still voting, and NONE of us want to see this thing shut down, at least until the final, climactic vote that brings Over the Edge its well-deserved victory :p ! And when something lasts this long, it will grow lower and lower in votes because its no longer something 'new', yet, with 173 votes, I'd say its still going strong, it has quite a few more votes to go, and it still can definately be considered epic and a big part of this forum's identity.
My vote goes to Keep this Poll alive! Also, if you do put this poll as a Featured Item, this will definately help a bundle. Look at the Delaney Poll and see how it jumped from 186 to, currently, 236.

This isn't too bad of a number, Jim. The decrease in the votes is probably due to the fact that some people are like me-- they take forever to make a decision because there are too many good episodes to choose from :D , but give them a chance, they'll come around. And I for one definitely don't want to see these polls shut down--I don't think the other 174 people that voted want to see them shut down either. I ask you to please keep these polls open for the people that are interested (like me). :D Besides, I'm sure you'll get huge increase in the voters when you make this a "featured item" liked you planned, so please, don't give up on them. :)
Now, on to my decision. I found this extremely difficult (as I do all of these polls). But, my vote finally went to "The Demon's Quest". I always thought the story was very interesting, and the animation was superb!

This isn't a bad number at all, as far as votes go. And, remember, each of those votes, whether it be 170 or 230 represents a person who loves Batman and this series enough not only to come here, but also to voice or cast his opinion. So, at current pace, I still think this poll can reach 200 or more, but EVEN if it falls short of that, I wouldn't call 180 or 90 too shabby, or even 150 or 60. AND even if you do have to close it down if it doesn't reach 200, I wouldn't do so after one poll short on votes. I'd wait to see if it becomes a pattern. I am enjoying this poll either way, and 170 votes from true Batman fans seems to make for an accurate indicator to me.

I'm back, and I'm still torn between four or five episodes, but since I couldn't find the time to rewatch all those episodes and just found out I'll be out of town all weekend, I had to get brutal and pick one. And my vote goes to His Silicon Soul. I love the light-hearted eps like The Man Who Killed Batman and Harley and Ivy, but for sheer psychological drama, you can't beat His Silicon Soul (Sorry, but IMHO Mudslide just didn't match it. Hagen has made it quite clear that he doesn't want to get better--even in this ep he was mostly interested in sustaining/increasing his power.) The Demon's Quest pt 1 was great, but I think Part 2 was (very) slightly better. I was actually surprised that more people didn't vote for Paging the Crime Doctor---I haven't seen it in years, but I seem to recall it being a good episode.
BTW, I agree that the lower number of votes this time around can be blamed on the difficulty of this particular poll. Expect a sudden jump in this poll's popularity this weekend...everybody's probably busy watching and rewatching the episodes, trying desperately to pick one. And even if you don't get 200 votes this time around, please PLEASE don't shut down the poll on the basis of one slow week! :( If there's a definite, steady decline over the next few polls, then sure, then it makes sense. But not after just one.

Seriously though - I had to go with the Demon's Quest on this one. I was never into the Bat mythos when I was younger (Superman and Marvel child here) but I thought that this was easily one of the best animated episodes out of the entire series. The animation looked amazing and now that I think about it this episode/story (entire 2 parter) would have to rank up there in the top 5 of my favorites.

The polls have been a lot of fun, and given us a lot of insite and info about the eps. Good natured banter, and good debates on issues. OK, maybe we do not get 200. But, what is this board about? You got a great idea here, please, let's keep it. Thanks...Stuart

Well, the poll only needs 6 more votes, so maybe it'll be saved this week. Who knows. As for it's fate - I'm still debating it to be honest. I do want to see it continue, and I realize that 190 odd people is a good turnout - but I can't help but be a bit discouraged when I see the Delaney poll pull in 260 plus people. But that's a different poll all togethor and I can see why it'd pull in a tonne of folks. It's just dissapointing to see this poll, full of great potential, start to flounder. Even if it doesn't reach 200 this week (but please try and get the word out tonight if possible) I may keep it going for another week, becuase I want to see if the FEATURE ITEM plug will help it out.
After that, well, it all depends. Bird_Boy will be taking this poll voer when I start my hiatus next week (yup next Sunday) so it is partially up to him as well. I will be back to pitch in for ROUND TWO, seeing as how R2 starts the same week the DVDs hit.
So, well...stay tuned, I suppse...

I was torn between The Man Who Killed Batman and Harley And Ivy. Both were great Harley episodes. I gave into H & I because it was the first episode with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy teamed up. It was a pretty funny episode too. :D
Harley: "Hey, you're that plant girl, right? Poison Oakey?"

Hmmm.
Well, 4 more votes will take it over 200. And if those go to H&I we'll end up in a tie.
Interesting developments, possibly. :D

Good thing I waited until now to vote! That's one less we'll need to 200! I encourage people again, vote for Harley & Ivy! Wait until Demon's Quest part 2 in the next poll (assuming there is one), don't vote for part 1 now! I know some people disagree, and again, I truly liked Demon's Quest, but I wouldn't say all this if the vote wasn't this close, and I guarantee, if both Demon's Quest part 1 & 2 win both separate polls, they will cancel each other out in the final vote! But hey, as long as these polls continues, I'll be happy!

well, it seems at the present time all we need is one vote to reach 200.

I thought The Demon's Quest pt.1 was the best episode on this poll, but the thought of them cancelling out each other in the final poll is what really made it a tough decision for me to make. Like I said in a previous poll, if the two-part episodes were together, it would be a lot easier making a decision. To me, you can't have one part without the other (except in the Cat and the Claw's case--I didn't think that second part was really necessary). But, I'm with you, Phantasm. I'll still be happy, whether they cancel themselves out or not, as long as these polls continue. :D

whats the point of this poll other than to decide which ep is best from the list? does CN show them to us on sundays after JL? :)

Instead of looking at the poll count this time (199 woohoo! :D ), I finally looked up to see how the eps were doing. I can't believe how close Harley and Ivy is to Demon's Quest! Big Q here: What if there's a Tie ?

I voted Mudslide, because it was the best listed that i remember. I'd have to say that my favorite part is the title card.

Phew. 207 votes. I'm so very glad.
This poll is fun. It is interesting. It deserves closure.
Screw the numbers game. This is for Batman, baby!

With 210 votes, the poll stays open for another week. I think this is the cloest poll yet, with the episode winning by only 5 episodes. If the poll had about 10 more votes, this could have gone very differently. So - for the time being the poll remains open (WOO HOO!) but I will be keeping an eye on it. Poll #7 opens tomorrow - tell yer friends!
